The agreement

Summary:

Félix made his choice. An agreement with Gabriel Agreste. Others may think he was stupid or selfish, but he knew why he did it.

Notes:

Just something that came in my head after seeing the recent developments in the show.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

He had done it. It was done. It couldn’t be undone now. Not that he wanted to undo it. He just didn’t know how to explain his side of the agreement to others, if need arose.

Gabriel had invited him and his mother to some party in the mansion. His mother was super excited about it.

She was just like that. Thrilled to see anything and everything that had a connection with Aunt Emilie. Most of all, she was excited to see his cousin, Adrien. Felix couldn’t deny that he himself was also eager to see him.

They hadn’t met for a long time. Before the death of his aunt, Adrien and he lived like brothers. But then his aunt died and Gabriel kind of shut in Adrien from the rest of the world.

Their last meeting had been a disaster. He was bitter about Adrien not attending his father’s funeral and he ended up turning Adrien’s friends against him, even got them akumatized.

That is when he was introduced to superheroes and the miraculous jewels. He was so interested in this whole fiasco between the heroes and Hawkmoth that he started researching about the miraculous jewels.

That’s how he ended up on the Ladyblog, where he came across a rough sketch of the peacock miraculous. That looked exactly like one of the brooches his aunt owned.

His mother had mentioned that that brooch was one of his aunt’s favourite things and he had planned to get his hands on that as well along with the ring. But he had failed to get it.

Seeing that brooch on the blog had confused him. Could it really be? Was his aunt a miraculous holder? There was only one way to find out and that was to investigate in the mansion.

The day of the party came and they went to Paris. Adrien was as nice as ever. Sometimes Felix marveled at how his cousin could do that even under the custody of such a tyrant.

Gabriel looked suspicious. Not much work and Felix was sure that he was Hawkmoth. He had seen the butterfly miraculous hidden under his ascot. This just solidified his doubts about his aunt.

A part of her wanted to expose him amd then demand the peacock miraculous as a reward for his help. He could then give that to his mother and make her happy.

But he didn’t want to break Adrien’s heart by telling him that his Father is the man he has been fighting all this time.

Yes, he knew Adrien was Chat Noir and Marinette, his friend, was Ladybug. He had put the pieces together shortly after his last visit to Paris.

He knew that Chat was in love with Ladybug who being Marinette was in love with Adrien but not Chat, who’s also Adrien. Yeah, his cousin had managed to trap himself in a love square.

He regretted deleting Marinette’s confession that day. But he had been blinded by resentment and didn’t know what he was doing was wrong.

He was thinking day and night for a way to get the brooch from Gabriel, but how?

His next visit to Paris solved all his worries when Ladybug approached him with a miraculous thinking him to be Adrien. The power of this miraculous was something that could solve all his worries.

So he kept up the pretense and even helped her. He managed to steal the miracle box containing all the miraculous jewels.

Then he made the deal with Gabriel. He would give him the whole miracle box if he agreed to give him the peacock miraculous.

Some might think it was stupid of him, but he didn’t want to have anything to do with a bunch of magical jewels. He just wanted that brooch to make his mother happy. It would be his gift to her.

He didn’t want to expose Gabriel. Adrien would be devastated.

If Gabriel managed to gain the miraculouses of the ladybug and black cat, he could bring his aunt back. Everything would be fine. Adrien would get his mother back. He would be happy.

And Gabriel, knowing that he had been fighting his son all this time and hurting him, will hopefully die of guilt if he had even an ounce of love for Adrien.

If Gabriel failed, everything would be alright. Hopefully, the two fools would finally learn of each other’s feelings and Adrien would be happy.

Gabriel would still die of guilt given that he would have failed to revive the love of his life.

Either way, it would go fine. Even if he didn’t expose Gabriel.

His plan was foolproof. The people he loved would stay happy, very happy.

He just hoped he wouldn’t have to explain his choices to anyone, least of all, his mother.

He knew that no one would understand him. But he didn’t care, he had done all of this, planned all of this out of his love for his mother and cousin.

Hopefully, everything would turn out the way he wanted it to....

Notes:

I really hoped that Felix would be a positive character, considering his loving gaze at his aunt’s portrait in “Gabriel Agreste”. But the finale ruined that. I just tried to justify him.
He deserved a redemption.
