Tom was late… very late for work. He just hoped he could reach office before his boss arrived. He just could not imagine how Mr. Potter would be if his favorite coffee (extra sweet with almond milk) was not on his table.
Tom finally reached his work place- ‘POTTER FURNISHINGS’- a company selling high end furniture. He did not bother to ride the lift, taking the stairs three at a time. Finally he deposited the ‘precious’ cup of coffee on the table and went back to his desk, sighing in relief. Mr. Harry potter -his boss was due to arrive in 3 minutes 15 seconds. Tom never understood how someone could be so punctual all the time.
Tom was just arranging Mr. Potter’s day’s schedule when the lift opened and the devil himself arrived. Mr. Potter just gave Tom a curt glance and rushed to his cabin. Tom counted till 50, as usual, when he received a call to come to the boss’s cabin.
Working as Mr. Potter’s secretary for the past three months, Tom was used to this exact routine- Monday to Friday without fail. Adjusting his tie, he took his stack of papers and went inside. Sitting behind the desk and sipping his coffee, Mr. Potter looked up.
“Good morning, Mr. Potter. We have a meeting scheduled with the Mr. Hamid of Travis Co. at 10 00am. Later at 11 am, Mr. Collin has requested a new meeting to discuss about our new factory construction in China. At one, we have a board meeting scheduled followed by lunch…”
“wait a second, reschedule the meeting with Mr. Colin tomorrow at 12 pm. I had clearly told him to get the construction done within the approved budget. This is not the first time he is overshooting our budget. Let him wait.” Mr. Potter added twisting his emerald ring on his middle finger.
“Noted sir.” Tom said, quickly noting the points in his note pad.
After discussing today’s schedule, Tom returned to his desk, when he felt his watch heating up. Tom quickly rose from his seat and rushed to the washroom and locked himself in a cubicle. His wand was in his hand the next second and he cast privacy spells on his cubicle. Next, he touched his watch face, and it expanded to a two way mirror. Tom was positively grumpy when his dad, Albus Dumbledore appeared on the mirror.
“Dad, how many times do I have to say, don’t call during my working hours. The muggles would notice if I take bathroom breaks for this long.”
“Tom, I know. But this is important. I just received a new lead. The magical sensor placed in your office registered a spike in magical activity yesterday at 6 30 pm, which was active till 7 00 pm, could you check who was in the office at that time”
“ nobody dad, because I was the last to leave office yesterday at 5 pm. But I will follow the lead. Let me check the CCTV footage and I will try to isolate magical signature from the device. Are you sure that the information is correct”
“come on Tom, you yourself designed, placed the device and assured its accuracy, are you now saying that our best Auror is wrong?”
“Dad, I am not the best auror in the force. You are…” tom Blushed.
“Son, nobody in the force is yet to break ‘Voldmort’s record for the most cases solved till date. Ok. Let meet today at the Leaky at 6 00 pm”
“ Bye Dad”

After cancelling all privacy spells and returning his watch to normal, Tom exited the washroom, to face Mr Potter who was washing his hands.
“ Long time in the washroom, don’t tell me you were wanking so early “ and he winked.
Tom was never embarrassed more in his life. He quickly mumbled” stomach bug” and left the place.

Albus Dumbledore embraced his son, as He met him at the Leaky cauldron.
“Since you were late , I ordered your favorite pumpkin soup and chicken fingers” he beamed.
“ Dad, I am sorry. I was stuck at work till 6 30. Usually I am free by five. Yet, today my boss gave me 2008 audit report and told me to find some error. It was strange. Why would someone want to check errors in a 10 year old file now?”
“ Ahha, maybe he bats for the same team as yours” Albus winked.
“Dad, Mr. Potter is straighter than the straightest line. He changes girlfriends like clothes. He is a complete playboy.”
“ OK, ok. Let time reveal its truth. Now to summarize our case till date
Mad Eye Moody spots Grindleward entering POTTER FURNISHINGS on December 12th.
You take your new undercover mission as secretary to Mr Potter on December 17th and verify his presence from CCTV footage.
No magical activity registered till yesterday march 24. This magic pulse was very strong and registered 9 on the magical core scale. So there is someone in that building who is magical. Plus the same magical spike was noted for last 3 major political assassination-2 in Paris and one in Moscow. The Magical Ministries of France and Russia are behind our ass ”
“ Dad, I am the only wizard in the building. I have scanned every individual who was visited Mr. Potter in the last three months. Every single one was a muggle. Not one, even registered in the squib level”
“ Tom, you are masking your Magical Aura. Cant somebody else too do the same?
“No I am sure. Voldmort never makes a mistake. The device registers even minute magical residue“
“ Self praise is getting to you”
“Actually, the masked hero Voldmort is a blessing. I am able to keep my private life and work separate because of this”
“Daily prophet is really missing VOLDMORT for the last three months. They are wondering where you has disappeared”
“ Dad, I am sure Mr. Grindalwald has a connection to Potter Furnishing, but with whom? The magical pulse is however is not his. This is a new guy who is in the scene. Someone who is not scared to assassinate high level ministry workers . Someone who is magically powerful, someone whom Voldmort can compete”
Albus looked at his son with pride. His Tom, whom he adopted when Ministry of Magic was notified about an accidental magic at an orphanage. Being an auror, Albus arrived at the scene and was surprised at Tom’s power ,even at the tender age of 7. However, he was quick to notice the neglect Tom faced from the matron and his fellow kids. He took Tom to his home next day and since then they were inseparable. Tom was the top student at Hogwarts and joined Ministry as an auror, quickly becoming the best, surpassing even Albus’s Brilliance. He was now Voldmort, the masked auror who solved all cases he set his eyes on.
Voldmort’s new case was Grindalwald and his presence in muggle world. What was he doing in a muggle Building who sells furniture? Was Mr. Potter in trouble? Whose presence triggered the magical devise and recorded that huge spike in Magic. Tom would crack it even if it was the last thing he did.

Tom was about to sleep when his cell rang. It was Mr. Potter.
“Riddle, I want a favor, can you be my boyfriend for the next 2 months?”
