Love’s Turbulence

Summary:

How did it even get to this point? One day the love of his life – Jung Wooyoung, that beautiful bastard - introduces him to his new boyfriend, and then the next he’s in love with both of them. Kang Yeosang is pretty sure Cupid just really wants to fuck with him. Maybe this was to be his own personal hell, having feelings for people who most definitely would never reciprocate.
At least he’s learnt how to hide it well, Yeosang thinks to himself.

Chapter 1

Notes:

Hey all, it's been a while! I just stopped writing for a while because of life and such, but I'm finally able to get back into it now. A bit of an ambitious one for me to try, but hopefully this goes well and people enjoy it! ^^

Chapter Text

Relationships were not Yeosang’s forte, honestly. “Finding the one” or whatever Wooyoung wanted to call it, the motivation just wasn’t there. Yeosang was perfectly content as he was; pining over his best friends for the rest of his life didn’t seem that bad. Jung Wooyoung is too much of a romantic for Yeosang to deal with sometimes. It was a common affair for the two to be chatting about Wooyoung’s “soulmate” and how he’s “the one”, Yeosang’s only comment being the roll of his eyes for the thirtieth time.

It was another average Tuesday morning, Yeosang wandering around the university campus before class to fill up time. One of his favourite pastimes while at uni was taking a walk, admiring the jungle-esque environment produced by the many trees and various plants that towered around him. There were also the nearby gardens just outside of the uni, however, he didn’t usually have the time.

“Heyyy, Yeosang!” Was all the warning Yeosang got before a large weight threw itself on his back. Guess Wooyoung didn’t have any classes at the moment as well, Yeosang thought.

“Wooyoung, get the hell off of me.” Yeosang huffed, more from exasperation than an annoyance. The shorter boy climbed off, giggling to himself with a large grin on his face. This usually meant something amazing had happened or Wooyoung was about to be a little shit, which was a lot more likely.

Still grinning, Wooyoung laughed out, “okay okay, but guess what? Choi San asked me out!” That made Yeosang really pause. Who asked who out? He almost swore his heart dropped out his ass at that point, really. Choi San, as in known as one of the best dancers on campus Choi San?

Well, Fuck.

“So, you are guys are dating now?” was Yeosang’s reply, looking at the ground away from his friend. He gets an enthusiastic nod followed by a squeal in confirmation, sighing in exasperation, “I'm surprised it took you this long to wear him down.”

There was then a loud over-exaggerated gasp followed by a screech of, “I did not ‘wear him down'! I very gracefully wooed him!” Yeosang just rolled his eyes at Wooyoung’s pouting face, slinging an arm around his shoulders. He nodded towards the cafeteria, beginning to pull the excited boy in that direction at the sight of his grin. The older boy felt that a very long chat about Choi San was going to ensue, and lunch always helped keep his own feelings down.

“... And so, after a very long romantic speech from Sannie, he asked me out and that’s how we- hey, are you even listening?” Wooyoung smacked Yeosang’s shoulder, pouting heavily. It was mildly (read: extremely) annoying to have your best friend ignore you while talking about something so important to you. He just wanted to share his happiness with the older boy but no, Yeosang’s spacing out over something most definitely not as important. Again .

Yeosang half-smiled, chuckling a bit, “Sorry, sorry. I was listening, he gave a speech with a giant bouquet of roses, right? A little over the top, but it suits you guys.” How he glossed over it so easily still aggravated him, but Wooyoung huffed and thought that maybe his friend was just tired. Sometimes he forgot that not everyone is as energetic as him all the time, so he shrugged it off.

Just as he was about to say something, Wooyoung felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see San, smiling and giving a light wave to the two of them. Of course, Wooyoung returned the grin and motioned for San to have a seat.

“I thought you had another class to get to? Or is that still a bit later?”

“Ah yeah, I’ve still got about an hour until I need to be there so I thought I’d join you and Yeosang for a bit?” San chuckled, clearly a bit nervous around his boyfriend’s best friend.

As he should be , Yeosang thought, although he just smiled at the younger boy. There wasn’t a point in being rude to San, since he hasn't done anything wrong; Yeosang was the coward here, after all. So, Yeosang got up and moved to the opposite side of the table, leaving the space next to Wooyoung free. San smiled wide, happily taking the newly free seat beside the younger boy. Yeosang withheld from rolling his eyes at the two, now smiling and giggling at each other as he took a bite of his sandwich.

“So, Yeosang, do you have anyone you’re with?”

“Do I have fucking what now?” Yeosang choked a little at the sudden question from San, eyes wide open in surprise.

“Well, I was just wondering, since Wooyoung talks about you a lot. Surely someone has confessed feelings for you, with how handsome you are?” San chuckled, looking over at Wooyoung. Of course, the bastard was nodding along, grinning at the prospect of finding out about his best friend’s love life.

“Ah, yeah… But I didn’t really like any of them, so nope, no one,” Yeosang took another bite from his lunch, hoping the conversation would just die then and there. Luck, however, was not on his side today it seemed.

Wooyoung leant over the table, grinning wide. “So you mean to say, there’s someone you like?” He spoke in a suggestive voice, wiggling his eyebrows for an annoying amount of emphasis. For fuck’s sake, Yeosang thought, as he choked on his food again . “Haha, I’m right, aren’t I! You wouldn’t get this flustered if I wasn’t!” Wooyoung loudly laughed, almost screeching, while giddily clapping his hands.

Yeosang glared at the younger boy, giving him a good shove back into his seat, where San stopped him from completely falling on his ass. Sadly. It would have been a hilarious sight and a great distraction from this horrific conversation. He knew that keeping his love life secret from Wooyoung could only last so long; another year or two would’ve been lovely though.

“Look, does it even really matt-”

“Yes! Obviously, I need to know if they’re worthy of my best friend!” Wooyoung stood up, determination flashing in his eyes. This set Yeosang back a bit, not aware of how much his friend cared about this sort of thing. Well, he knew Wooyoung took his own relationships quite seriously, but Yeosang’s too? He hadn't had a proper relationship in over four years, so maybe Wooyoung was just worried about him?

With a long sigh, Yeosang started, “yeah, okay. There is someone, but!” He put his hand up to stop Wooyoung, “I’m not planning on doing anything about it. Can we drop it now, please? I have class in fifteen minutes.” Yeosang stood up, gave a small wave to San, and began walking away. He dropped the last of his sandwich in a nearby bin, having lost his appetite. Having class was a lie, but they didn’t need to know that.
