It had been almost a week since San had broken up with Wooyoung. The emotional toll it had taken on San was intense, but it was amplified by the other’s incessant messaging. No matter how many times San blocked him, Wooyoung found a way to reach him. He knew it must’ve been hard on Wooyoung, but they both needed to move on and he was determined to ignore him for as long as it took.
One day, while laying in bed and procrastinating his morning routine, San received yet another message from Wooyoung, this time from a burner Instagram account. The message simply read “San”, and he ignored it as always.
A few moments passed before another text came in.
“why are you like this” it said, with a broken-heart emoji added for dramatic effect. Again, San ignored it and continued his scrolling. Another text came in.
“I’m gonna jump off a bridge if you don’t reply.” Although he hated admitting it, this message was hard not to reply to. Even though he no longer wanted to see Wooyoung, he didn’t want him to die. But, remembering what his therapist said about manipulation and guilt-tripping, he chose again to ignore the message.
“Ok bye I’m gonna jump”. San’s heart froze. Was he serious? He remained still for several moments, contemplating how drastic the situation was and if he should give in. Before he could make up his mind, however, another message came in.
“YO THIS IS WOOYOUNG’S HOMIE HE JUST JUMPED WHY YOU AINT REPLY TO HIM !!!”
San stared blankly at the screen. Obviously, he deduced that Wooyoung was clearly lying. It had literally been five minutes since the previous message, and even if he had jumped, why would his friend be so close by and immediately decide to message him and not call for an ambulance? Maybe Wooyoung was dumber than he thought. Another message rolled in.
“DAWG HE FUCKING DEAD OMG”
At this point, San was fully amused by the situation. He had completely abandoned any morning plans and decided to wait and see just how far Wooyoung would go to try to bait him into responding. After about 10 minutes, three new messages came.
“san it’s me
I’m in the hospital
Idk if ima make it”
San felt insane. No way did Wooyoung think he would believe that in the span of 15 minutes he had jumped off a bridge, died, got brought back to life, and was conscious enough to text him. No way. He put the phone down, assuming that there was no way the other would go further than this. He had made it clear enough he was not going to respond. Or so he thought.
After only two minutes, one more message came in.
“Yo San it’s the surgeon”
