Work Text:
Two figures were seated at in a library.
The first one was a plain looking brown haired boy, looking at him, what you would first notice was his smile, unbelievably average style, and Ultimate Bedhead.
The other was a rather dignified person, long lavender hair, gloves and a suit on. You would first notice the stoic look on her face, and detailed gloves.
But you would have to be pretty blind to not notice a slight smile on her face.
These two people were Makoto Naegi (Ultimate Lucky Student) and Kyoko Kirigiri (Ultimate Tsund- Detective)
As one might expect, they were both pleasantly enjoying their own novels, Makoto holding a mystery novel that had been suggested to him by Kyoko, and Kyoko holding a romance novel that Aoi Asahina had suggested her to read while near Makoto.
"Just let the cover and title influence him"
And as much as Kyoko hated to admit it, being a socially distant person for most of her life, she was clueless in the romance department.
A clueless detective huh...
So she decided to follow the advice, despite knowledge of Asahina's general carelessness.
The novel had proved itself interesting, it involved a lot of mystery aspects and beneficial things to an upcoming detective.
Or that was all just denial so she could keep reading it.
In hopes that Makoto would take a hint.
Which seemed very unlikely.
But then again, luck caused very unlucky things.
Above Makoto, a bookshelf suddenly creaked releasing a stream of hard copy books.
They flew down perfectly and exactly 1.103 seconds later. Makoto got hit on the head by 7 books.
"Ow..."
Kyoko chuckled from aside. He always got into the most unlucky incidents ever. In fact the first time they even met...
...
She looked down at the small boy laying face first on the ground in front of her.
He seemingly had just come out of nowhere, flying through the doors and landing next to her.
After a few seconds. He finally got up, and dusted himself off before spotting her.
"Ah- I'm sorry to be an annoyance, you see I kind of got hit by a car and all, thing escalated from there with these gas barrels-"
She held a hand to silence him.
"Who are you?"
She asked simply,
"Makoto Naegi, Ultimate Lucky Student!"
He said, his face widening into a smile before stretching his hand out.
She hesitated before reaching her own hand out in acceptance.
"Very well, I am Kyoko Kirigiri, the Ultimate Detective."
...
Getting hit by a car at that time seemed pretty unbelievable for someone labeled the Ultimate Lucky Student, but over time, it had endeared to her.
...
"What did you get yourself into now"
She looked down at him with his torn hoodie and gut wounds.
"You probably wouldn't believe me, but Enoshima-san asked me to help out with a project of hers called SisKiller, and there a bunch of spears that..."
He winced, winded of breath from his gut injuries.
Kyoko started gaining different thoughts in her head about this, most of them directed towards Junko Enoshima, Suspicion, and Anger.
She had almost killed a classmate.
Not just a classmate, a friend.
Yes, a friend, something Kyoko hadn't expected to gain.
She sighed before suddenly picking up Makoto.
"W-wait! Kirigiri-san! I-i can get to the nurses office myself! T-there's no need!"
She didn't respond, and carried a flustered Makoto to Mikan.
...
There were still suspicions about Junko she had, this incident playing a key part in them due to the hurt of a friend.
Makoto had registered the injuries as an accident, not including Junko in the report
She had to admire his selflessness, and be infuriated internally by it.
And back to the present. Makoto sheepishly rubbed his head, commenting on his poor luck.
His book had gone flying and landed next to Kyoko.
As he went to grab it, luck came into play as his gaze briefly went over the contents of the book.
She didn't know how to react, sure her wish had been granted and Makoto noticed what she was reading, but what would happen next?
He kept reading, transfixed by the scene playing out in the book at that moment.
The boy and the girl moved closer to each other, the movie seemingly gone to background noise
He subconsciously moved closer to Kyoko.
The two bodies made contact, warmth connecting.
He suddenly got a lot closer to her than ever before.
Noticing the intimacy, they gazed into each others eyes.
Kyoko locked on to Makoto as they approached.
Lips delicately moving toward the significant other
They moved in, overtaken by the hormones.
and then-
She felt a dangerous presence from behind.
A soldiers wrath.
Wait what?
They both felt a needle injecting serum into their bodies as they lulled away to sleep. One of the captors slamming Kyoko's face down enraged, while also unintentionally hitting Makoto with it.
"Aw Muku, you hurt your boy toy already along with hopeless detective. Though on the bright side, we won't have to erase their memories.
Later, Kyoko would wake up with almost no memories and a bad headache, and Makoto would also wake up with some lost memories and a bad headache.
Both of them in an empty classroom.
