Work Text:

***

Amelia stands on the threshold of her house. She wanted to take a walk, because the work was done, which meant that she could rest. Stepping out into the street on a dark dark night, she lifted her gaze up. The raindrops had just begun to fall to the ground, but did not try to intensify. It was cold, and the light jacket on her made itself felt, but Amelia did not pay attention to the trembling in her body, but only reached into her jeans pockets to get a pack of cigarettes. Lighting one, feeling the pleasant warmth in her throat, Amelia rolls down the railing, landing on her feet, and begins her journey.

She did not even think where she wanted to go, just walk around the city and see its beauty. Maybe go to some bar to drink two or three mugs of that other beer. Passing the streets, she looks at the sky, which is lit up with stars and raindrops, which slowly begins to grow stronger. Cars pass by, the owners probably hurrying to their families after a long day of work. The cigarette goes out in her mouth and Amelia tosses it into the nearest trash can.

"Yeah, I'll have to go buy another pack later." She said to herself under her breath, looking at the almost empty pack of cigarettes. "Ha?"

Without having time to do anything and react, the rain begins to intensify strongly, and there is no dry place left from Amelia. She curses this world, but at the same time she rejoices, without knowing the reason herself.

"It's already too far to get home, and it's too long to wait for the next bus." He mutters to himself, and shoves her hands into his pockets, which were already filled with water. Before starting her step, Amelia feels something small bump into her. "Ha?"

Amelia lowers her head to meet blue eyes. The white-haired girl who ran towards her was already sitting on the floor, stroking her nose. Narrowing her eyes, Amelia recognized the girl and who she was. It turned out to be Gura, who studies with her in the same classroom.

"I'm sorry!" The white-haired girl raises her head to meet Amelia, who continued to stare at her. But after a while, she holds out her hand, which the girl accepts. "Thanks! Sorry again for bumping into you, it was hard to see because of the rain..."

"It's okay, Gura." Amelia again looks down at the victim, mentally considering how short this girl is. Looking at her trembling body, which she is trying to hide, Amelia unthinkingly takes off her jacket, which, although wet, is acceptable to warm and attracts her petite girl. "Here you are. You'll be cold when you're only wearing a light sweater."

"Uh..How do you know my name?" Gura said, hesitantly taking the jacket and throwing it over herself. Warm. "Don't forget to remind me to return your jacket."

"Don't you know me? Ah- yes, I almost never show up in class." Amelia chuckled at herself as she lifted her wet bangs to show herself. "It's me, Amelia, from your course. Sometimes we meet at the same classes, which I sometimes skip."

"Amelia?" The girl looked at Amelia, who continued to stand with a stone face. "Exactly! I managed to see you, but not so often. What are you doing here?"

"I want to say the same to you." She said with a smile to Gura, scanning her body with her gaze. God, she's wetter than me. "I decided to take a walk after a side job, but now it started to rain, and getting home is like Jupiter. So what about you?"

"I was on extra assignments at school, but didn't take into account that it was going to rain. I wanted to take the bus, but the nearest stop was so far away that I had to run to it." After Gura explained the reason, a car drove past them through the puddles. Gura looked at the water, which was about to wash over her again. She closed her eyes to keep the water out and waited.

But there was no water hit.

Opening her eyes, she noticed Amelia, who was standing in front of her, holding her behind her back. The blonde looked at the passing car with an unkind look.

"Sometimes these freaks don't care so much about people's plight that they do whatever they want." Amelia grumbled, turning to the girl, who at this time did not stop watching the blonde's condition. "You didn't get hit by water?"

"Amelia, you're going to catch a cold!" The older girl looked at herself, and instead of doing something right, she laughed. "Did I say something funny?"

"If we compare, which of us will catch a cold, it's you. Seriously, in a skirt on a day like this?" Amelia chuckled, looking down. The skirt that was on Gura became too dirty and wet. "Since we have nothing to lose, then to whom are we going home? To you or to me?"

Gura looked at the blonde, who continued to smile, as if now she was not wet to the heels. "My home is closer, come to me."

"Well then, lead me, princess."

Ignoring the new nickname that popped out of Amelia, the white-haired girl grabbed her arm as she started her way. Because of the rain, it was not very clear where she was going, but she walks this road every day, so Gura managed to easily find the right entrance.

Gura's apartment is warm, Amelia noticed as she slipped off her wet t-shirt, thus remaining in a sports top. Now she was standing near the washing machine, waiting for things to stretch out so that they could dry them later. Gura gave her a large t-shirt that her older brother had given her. The t-shirt, although it was large, but well suited to Amelia. As well as shorts that were already Gura, so they were not very comfortable, but normal. After drying her hair, Amelia went into the kitchen, in which Gura was already sitting, and put down mugs of tea.

"This is certainly not a luxury, like rich people, but it's all there is." Gura said as she sat down at the table. Amelia followed suit, drawing the hot mug to her lips. "Don’t burn yourself, after all, the kettle has been boiling recently!”

"Don't worry, he's not very hot for me."

"And I'd rather wait."

So they sat at the table for less than an hour, talking about the topics that first come to mind. To Amelia's surprise, the girl had many preferences that she also loves. Then they moved to the sofa, because there was nothing to do, and watching a movie is the best way to cheer yourself up.

Gura sat between Amelia's legs, who at that time hugged her from behind, pressing her cheek against her thin shoulder. Not one of them found this position awkward, so they just enjoyed watching and warm hugs.

"I do not think that the rain will end today, tomorrow, at worst." Gura said, hearing between the screams on the TV beating drops on the glass. Amelia at this time grunted something into her shoulder, already completely distracted from watching. "You will have to spend the night with me. Well, or go to the mercy of fate and go through this hurricane."

"The second sounded like you want to kick me out already." Slightly offended, but with a chuckle, Amelia said, raising her head. "Although it will not be convenient for me to spend the night here, because I have become more accustomed to the old atmosphere of my house."

"It's too far from your house, you said it yourself, so you'll spend the night here." Gura said before rising from the knees of the blonde who frowned at the loss of warm. "You will definitely not sleep on the couch, because you are my guest."

"If you want to sleep with me, you would say it right away, what to hide." Amelia's lips began to smirk at her own words. Apparently Gura understood the hint, and already with a face red to the ears, she threw the nearest pillow at the girl. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding!"

"Do you always joke like that with all the girls, or am I lucky and I'm the only one?"

"You are the one and only with whom I joke like that."

"Let's go, you idiot."

Amelia's ringing laughter resounded through the apartment when the flushed Gura grabbed her by the arm and led her into the bedroom.

Already in the bedroom, Gura realized that her bed was single. If then because of the thought that she would sleep with Amelia because she so wanted not to force the girl, then now she was all red almost from the tips of her ears to her heels. Amelia at this time grinning, leaning on the door frame.

After a few minutes [which I'm too lazy to describe] they were already lying in bed, slanting their backs to each other. There was an awkward silence between them, that is, between Gura, at this time everything was too great for Amelia.

A very strong thunderclap was heard, which lit up the entire apartment, and after a few seconds, Amelia felt a small body pressed against it from behind. A sob was heard on her back, and she had no choice but to turn to Gura, who at that time was pressed against her back like a little stone.

"Hey?" Gura heard Amelia's quiet voice near her ear, she didn't try to raise her voice but only clung tighter to the blonde. "Thunderstorms scare you, don't you?"

"Yes. I allow you to laugh." She muttered into her collar.

"Why should I laugh?" Amelia said with a little chuckle, but apparently this action made Gura flinch. Sighing, Amelia placed her hand on the petite girl's back, stroking it in consolation. "As a child, I was also afraid of thunderstorms and other loud sounds."

"You? Funny."

"No, really." Amelia spoke more seriously, thus forcing the Guru to finally raise his head and look at her like: how can a person like you be afraid of thunderstorms. "My stepmother used to lock me in a closet when I did something wrong. This "something" got bigger and bigger, so I was practically living in that dirty closet. If I violated this order, then they yelled at me, or left me without food and water until I realized my mistake. The most terrible thing was when, being in this closet, it was very clearly audible how the storm was approaching. In empty places, the sound wave becomes stronger, and when a thunderstorm hit the lands, I almost curled up in a corner."

"How could she do this to you?"

"Probably out of jealousy towards me." Amelia answered, continuing to draw circles on the back of Gura, who had already adapted to such actions from the blonde. "My father always paid more attention to me, probably, she just became jealous of me."

"But love for a daughter and love for a wife are all so different."

"Well, you could say that. You should have seen her face when dad found out what she did to me!" Gura's sobs turned into soft giggles and Amelia was pleased with herself, which somehow improved the atmosphere. "It seems to me that her jaw even cramped when she looked in surprise at the divorce document."

"God, this is creepy!" Gura said laughing, no longer paying attention to the next roll of thunder. "Thank you for comforting me..."

"Happy to help, princess." Amelia said with a smile, and felt thin hands around her neck, and a cold nose buried in her collarbone. "Mmm?"

"Can...Can we lie down like this for a few more minutes?" Gura whispered shyly but more confidently.

"Of course, as much as you like, princess."

Those few minutes turned into an hour, and then into a whole night. At least Amelia was warm when a small but warm body pressed against her. Gura also pressed closer to Amelia, wanting more soft and comfortable space.

Rainy days are not so terrible if you can meet such a nice person who will probably soon become the love of your life. But that's another story that leads to something else.
