Work Text:
Izzy was a prickly creature.
Unfortunately, Axl was learning this time and time again.
Those prickles were full and sharp as Izzy carefully laid down in bed. Another fight, another reason for them to both cut it quits but Axl would probably die without Izzy by his side.
Izzy was like the water after a long walk in the desert. At first, he was like Heaven, but too much....Axl turned his head and looked at Izzy's pale face, solemn. "Where were you?" Axl asked, because it'd been hours and he worried about Izzy constantly, worried about his safety and many other things.
"Walking. Somewhere." Izzy dragged the blankets further over his body.
Axl looked at him deeper, trying to poke through Izzy's defences, see into his heart, his soul. "I'm sorry for what I said." He hated apologizing but Izzy liked apologies, liked being proven right.
"Yeah. So am I." Izzy didn't say anything more after that, and when Axl embraced him, he didn't reciprocate, as hard as a stone wall.
