Work Text:
Donghun was currently focused on writing lyrics for his self-composed song that was about to be included on their upcoming mini album. He couldn’t help but smile as he began scribbling the part where he and Sehyoon will supposedly harmonize, already imagining how their practice would turn out. As he brushed over his lilac-tinged silver bangs that covered his eyes, his phone suddenly started ringing. But, he ignored it and concentrated on what he was doing.
Still, it kept on ringing and it was getting on his nerves, forcefully putting his pen down. He clicked his tongue in annoyance as he picked up his phone and received without even looking at the caller ID. He didn’t say anything and just waited for the caller to speak.
“Hey there, DH. I’m at Z bar and—“
“Thanks for the update. In case you’re going to invite me, I’ll pass. We just drank our hearts out yesterday! Also, I’m busy.”
Donghun snapped at Seoham, one of his best buddies who called two hours before midnight. His friend only chuckled at his lashing, to which he rolled his eyes at.
“Chill bro, I know that. I just wanted to tell you that I saw WOW downing three – no, four bottles of soju around…an hour ago?”
“Hold on, WHAT? As in A.C.E’s WOW – uh, rather -- my Kim Sehyoon??”
Donghun quickly cut him off with a surprised tone.
“Yes. Who else would it be??”
“But my Sehyoon never gets drunk!”
“Well today, A.C.E’s Kim Sehyoon a.k.a WOW, your band mate, and your lover, is wrecked with alcohol. I am not mistaken.”
“Then why didn’t you stop him???”
“Who am I to stop him?? Only you or your other band mates could, and probably his family.”
“And why did you only tell me NOW???”
“Sorry, I got preoccupied a while back. I only remembered just now so I called you.”
“Really now, Seoham.”
“Oh, and fun fact: Some girls and guys were swarming over him at that moment too but he just drove them away like flies. He kept on telling them that no one is allowed near him except you.”
“But of course! Don't underestimate that man's loyalty. Ugh, damn it…I’ll be right there.”
“You better. He’s already out of it and has his head slammed on the table.”
“Yeah, yeah. Thanks for calling me, see you.”
Donghun quickly ended the call and rushed over to the bathroom for a quick shower. After drying with a towel and blow-drying his hair a little, he opted for his favorite black bucket hat, plain beige T-shirt and dark-blue jogger pants. He also wore his favorite silver necklace which was Sehyoon’s gift for him on his 25th birthday, then wore a black mask to conceal his identity. He chose a random pair of rubber shoes for his footwear and went straight into his gray car.
Not that he was worried over paparazzi since the place was private, and the clients were mostly just businessmen and women. He was worried over the possibility that he might make a mess, cause a scene or worse, be hit on or asked for a dumb fight once he wakes up. Such scenarios flooded his mind because he didn’t have any idea of Sehyoon’s drunken habits.
That guy…what is he thinking???
Donghun thought as he drove a little fast on his way to Z bar. It took him only 30 minutes to arrive at the location and after parking his car; he dashed inside and quickly fished out his phone from his right front pocket and called for Seoham. Luckily, his buddy answered in a few seconds.
“So, where are you?” he immediately asked, and Seoham laughed.
“Relax, I’m currently watching him, making sure no one attacks.”
“Is he still out?”
“Yeah, and guess what, he wouldn’t even let me near him too. I’m at an empty seat beside his table.”
“Okay, I’m here now. Tell me the specific corner you both at.”
“On the table located far left side of the main drinks counter.”
Donghun scanned the place, looking for what best fits his friend’s description.
“Found you.”
He said, ending the call simultaneously and hurried over to where they were.
Seoham waved as Donghun approached him.
“Thanks. I’ll take it over from here.” The silver-haired man declared, casually hugging his friend and motioned for a high-five.
“No problem. Let’s hang out again some other time.”
“Sure.”
“By the way, did you do something bad to your boyfriend? He seemed lonely when I saw him drinking all those.”
“What are you talking about? I am taking care of him. Get going!”
Donghun retaliated, and Seoham only cackled as he walked out of the bar.
Donghun sighed heavily as he approached Sehyoon in his black and white striped long sleeves, black jeans and his black cap worn backwards that covered most of his royal blue hair. He was still knocked out on the table with the bottles of soju surrounding him. Thankfully, there were only a few people around.
“Sehyoon. Sehyoon-ah.”
He called out a little softly, but there was no response. He then sat beside him, put down his mask up to his jaw line and shook him a little before speaking up again in a louder voice.
“Ya, Kim Sehyoon. Wake up, let’s go home.”
Sehyoon groaned and slowly lifted his head, his eyes squinting at the man beside him.
“You again…? I said get away from meee. Lee Donghun is the only one allowed near me, okayyy?”
He said groggily, making Donghun laugh a little.
“It’s me, your Lee Donghun.”
“Hmm?”
Sehyoon brushed his tongue between his lips, an uncontrolled quirk of his as he leaned a little closer to Donghun and scanned his features to see if he was telling the truth. In his slightly hazy vision, he recognized his silvery-lilac hair, his black bucket hat, his plushy pink lips and his overall facial features. With that, a wide grin formed on his face.
“Ah, it’s really youuu…”
He quickly grabbed his lover for a hug, much to his surprise. He started nuzzling his head in a doting manner on Donghun’s neck, with his arms wrapped tightly around him. He was indulging his presence and his fresh scent.
“W-whoa! We’re in public…”
“Who cares?” Sehyoon replied nonchalantly as he giggled impishly and continued to snuggle with Donghun while spouting more sentiments.
“I love you so much Donghuuun-ah.”
“My one and only Donghuuun…you’re really hereee…”
“You’re mine. Only mine, okayyy?”
The smell of soju and cigarettes wafted strongly on Donghun’s nose, and it wasn’t very pleasant for him but he put up with it anyway.
“Did you smoke?”
“Yeah, but I only had two sticks, I promise. Where’s my answer to my confession?”
“Yes. I love you too, Sehyoon. Very much.”
The younger smiled in satisfaction and continued to hold him fondly, and the older ultimately responded by hugging him back. But even as the older wanted to stay that way -- he felt like the others’ eyes were already on them so he pushed Sehyoon away from him a little.
“Huh. I still want to cuddle with youuu.” He said, pouting as he attempted to squeeze him again. However, Donghun stopped him first by grabbing his wrists and inclined closer to say something.
“We can continue our cuddling when we get home.”
But suddenly, the younger’s body jolted in disagreement, immediately burying his head on his shoulder.
“No. I want it nowww.” He said in quite the needy tone, which gave Donghun another surprise.
So this is Sehyoon when he gets drunk. He’s unexpectedly talkative, clingy and whiny.
He thought as he chuckled inwardly. He never imagined his aloof, mysterious but quite the joker boyfriend to become a whole new person when under the influence of alcohol. At the very least, he wasn't the type to resort on fighting or any other form of violence.
“Come on Donghuuun. I want you in my arms all day.” Sehyoon continued to plead as he freely crossed his arms over Donghun’s waist.
“Juseyooo.”
Although the silver-haired man was amused of this brand new version of his lover, he was a bit perplexed of it as well because it was not the Sehyoon he’s used to, and it was also unintentionally testing his patience. He let out a single, quiet huff; thinking of what to say to make him agree to go home.
“Sehyoon-ah.”
“Yeah?”
“It’s almost midnight. We have to go...we have a photo shoot in the morning.”
“No, I don’t care. Let’s just stay here like thisss.”
“You’ve got to be kidding be. We will hug all the way when we get home…there’ll be lots of cuddles, I swear.”
“Buuut I don’t want to be apart from you even for a second.”
Donghun hated the fact that it was a cringey statement, but it was too sweet that it made his heart skip a beat.
“I also want to stay like this, but it’s really better if we are in our own room, don’t you think?” he said, hoping he would buy it this time, but to no avail.
“Nooo. Anywhere is good as long as it’s you who’s with me.”
The older couldn’t help but facepalm at his far-from-sober partner’s extraneous poetic answers but admittedly, he was struck to the heart twice.
Donghun was about to grab his phone to ask help from Seoham, but he just remembered that he had dismissed him. He then searched his contacts for Junhee, but he guessed that he was probably asleep, together with Byeongkwan and Yuchan. Just then, an idea popped up on his mind and although it was a harsh one, he had no choice since being mellow wasn’t working at all.
“Sehyoon. If we don’t get home now, I’m breaking up with you.”
He said as he removed his partner’s arms that were entangled over him.
Sehyoon immediately went stiff, staring directly at him in shock.
“Are you serious?”
“Yes. You’re not listening to me anymore, and I don’t like that.”
“You’re being unfair.”
“In what way am I being unfair right now?” Donghun replied, his forehead furrowing a little.
“I’m not listening to you? I ALWAYS listen to you whenever, and whatever you want to say or want me to do. Since when did I not listen to you? Tell me.”
“Wait, you’re getting the wrong idea. That’s not what I—“
“Donghun. You just said you love me. You can’t do this.”
Sehyoon gritted his teeth and hugged him so tight like a toy he wouldn’t share or let go.
“We’re not ending things between us.”
He said in a tenaciously deep voice that sent shivers to Donghun’s spine. Donghun was about to clear up the misunderstanding but Sehyoon blurted out first, cancelling his chance.
“Fine then. Let’s go home.”
Sehyoon severed from their hug and stood up right then and there, wobbling as he walked on ahead. Donghun didn’t have the time to process his own reactions as he rushed over to support him.
“I’m fine. You don’t have to help.” he grumbled, swatting away the older’s arm.
“Goodness, Sehyoon. You can’t even walk straight.”
“So what?” I can still walk.”
Donghun didn’t have it in him to talk back and still assisted him despite his complaints. When they reached his car, he helped him sit properly on the front seat and also fastened his seatbelt for him.
“You okay…? You don’t feel weird?”
He asked, and all he got was a dry reply from Sehyoon.
“Yeah.”
“Okay. Just tell me if you ever feel something.”
Sehyoon didn’t respond and just stared at the car's window, laying his head on his own arm all throughout half of the drive. Silence covered the atmosphere, but it didn’t bother him at all -- unlike Donghun who felt uncomfortable by it. Aside from that, he was stunned by his full degree mood swing. He knew what caused it, but he just had to do that because he couldn’t think of other options. He didn’t want to disturb their other three members/friends and the bar employees.
Sehyoon noticed that they took a different path, and that was the only time he spoke up.
“Hey. Where are we going?”
Donghun, startled at his sudden question, exhaled deeply and cleared his throat.
“We’re going…to my house.”
A weak smile crossed the younger’s lips.
“Ah.”
The two were quiet again, but for the reason that Sehyoon had already fallen asleep. Donghun noticed that and pulled for a quick stop-over just to smooch him on his temple. He laughed quietly as he watched him slumber for some time until he resumed driving.
When they had arrived, Donghun quickly went down first and opened the door for him, waking him up from his short nap and helped him get down. Surprisingly, there were no objections from the younger.
The older brought him straight to his bedroom, and Sehyoon was rather baffled. He was about to question him but he let him sit comfortably on the edge of his bed and spoke first.
“Jagiya, stay here. I’ll get you a change of clothes.” He said while taking off his cap for him, exposing his slicked back royal blue hair.
“Alright.”
Donghun also removed his bucket hat and placed it together with Sehyoon’s cap on the hat stand beside his door before going to his closet room.
Sehyoon waited like a good child, and a few minutes later, Donghun was back with a pair of plain white shirt and black knee-length loose shorts; along with a soft, damp towel and a glass of water. He then sat beside him and let him drink the water first.
“Thanks.”
“How are you feeling?”
“I’m still a little tipsy, but I’m okay…”
Donghun was now about to wipe his face as well, but Sehyoon stopped him.
“I can do it.”
“No, let me do it.”
He then carried on with the task, gently wiping his face from his right cheek to his forehead, left cheek, chin, lips and finally to his eye and nose areas before going to his neck. He could feel Sehyoon’s gaze completely on him, and he chuckled.
“Just so you know, that was just an excuse to get ourselves out of there. Why would I ever want to break up with you?” Donghun said, and he felt Sehyoon flinch.
“Ah, that was—“
“You were being difficult to handle, so--”
“Yeah…I’m sorry about that.”
Donghun stopped what he was doing and gawked at Sehyoon.
“You’re acting…normal. Have you sobered up a little???”
“Mm…the short nap helped.”
“That’s good, then.” He said, laughing a little as he ruffled his hair.
“So, uh, I’m going to change at the bathroom.” Sehyoon uttered, taking the clothes that Donghun had on his lap.
“Sure.” He said, smiling as he patted him on the back.
Sehyoon was finished in a moment, the shirt and shorts fitting him perfectly. As he went out of the bathroom, he saw Donghun already lying on the bed in his light purple sweater and silky dark pants. He was about to say something but the older went first.
“What are you standing there for? Come here.” He said with a grin, to which the younger nodded awkwardly. He meekly sat beside him and flipped his hair towards one side.
“What’s up? I thought you wanted to cuddle with me all day.” Donghun continued to tease, holding back his laughter.
“That was embarrassing of me, I know. Please forget that, if you can. ” Sehyoon replied, covering half of his face with his left hand, trying to hide how flustered he was.
“Oh no, I won’t. I don’t know when I’ll get to see that version of you again. I didn’t know you were so needy and sensitive.”
“Please, Donghun. It’s really cringey.”
“Okay, I’ll stop now.” he replied, still chuckling.
“More importantly…I’m sorry about snapping out at you back there. I just got rattled since I never expected you to say that.”
Donghun fell quiet and instantly reached for Sehyoon’s hand, clasping it tightly. To his relief, his gesture was returned at once.
“Honestly, that was too much for an excuse…”
Sehyoon continued to say, but with a shaky voice this time. Alarmed, Donghun sat up and promptly grabbed him by the nape to give him a soft, apologetic kiss.
Parting slightly from the kiss, he opened his eyes and looked at him in assurance and spoke up.
“I’m seriously sorry. Heck, I will never give you up or let you go no matter what. You’re--”
Sehyoon abruptly leaned towards him, cutting him off as he kissed him deeply and passionately. There was still the faint taste of soju mixed with the taste of mint mouthwash coming from Sehyoon, but Donghun didn’t mind and responded with the same intensity. Both of them were breathless as they broke off from their intimate kiss.
“I don’t know what to do without you in my life anymore, Donghun.” The younger stated fervently, and it made him blush.
“You really say the most meteoric things…but I love it when you do.”
Sehyoon finally smiled and chuckled as he embraced him tenderly. Later, both lied back on the bed together, with Donghun snuggling up to Sehyoon. The older had his arms encircled over the other’s waist, while the younger had his arms looped over the other’s shoulders.
“This is what I meant, if only you conceded easily back there.” The silver-haired man suddenly teased, earning an exasperated sigh from the royal blue-haired man.
“Not this again.”
Donghun looked up and pinched his nose, giggling.
“Sorry. Bad habit.”
“It’s fine, I can manage. As long as it’s you.” Sehyoon replied with a short laugh, tightening his hug and resting his chin above his head.
“What were you about to say before I interrupted you for a kiss?”
“…oh, that. You’re my other half.”
He delivered it so naturally but Sehyoon's heart jerked like crazy as his face contorted in happiness. Donghun felt that and he grinned as he understood his giddiness.
“Let’s sleep?” Sehyoon asked after that, and the other nodded. He was about to put the lamp off when Donghun suddenly spoke.
“Ah wait a minute…! I wanted to ask you something.”
“Huh? Can’t that wait for tomorrow?”
“No. I can’t sleep if I won’t ask it right now.”
“But we’ll make it quick, okay? I’m really getting sleepy.”
“Yes, yes. So, what in the world made you think of getting drunk??? You always control yourself when you drink.”
There was no reaction, and Donghun quickly pestered him.
“Sehyoon-ah, I’m waiting for an answer. I thought you said we’ll make this quick??”
The man being questioned cleared his throat, and then breathed deeply.
“Uh, it’s not something worthy for you to know. Good night.”
Donghun got up abruptly and constantly shook his shoulders.
“Ya…! Now you’re being unfair. I will not let you sleep until you answer my question.” He said as he went on top of him, bent over and inched his face close to his while forcing the younger’s eyelids open as he pretended to sleep.
Sehyoon couldn’t keep up with his sleeping act any longer and chuckled as he took control of Donghun’s wrists. Then, he gathered all of his strength and twisted their positions. Now, he had the older man beneath him.
“Tell me.” Donghun demanded with teasing eyes.
“…I got jealous of you and Junhee being all over each other during our practice the other day.” He replied in a small voice, and Donghun immediately burst into laughter. Flustered, Sehyoon spoke up defense.
“Ahhh…see? I regret telling you now.”
“No, I mean, it’s just—“the older said, trying to explain, but he still couldn’t stop laughing.
“Enough already…I can’t be more embarrassed than I currently am.”
“Okay, I’m sorry…” he replied, yet Sehyoon was still considerate enough to wipe his lover’s tears of laughter.
“But darling, we’ve all been touchy with each other since the beginning of A.C.E.”
“Yeah I know…I just, felt down that day for no reason. I wanted a moment with you but then I saw that and well, it simply didn’t feel right. So I was hoping I could spend the night with you but I forgot that you already had plans with Seoham. I felt really glum about it and couldn’t open up to anyone, even the other members and I don’t know why. That’s when I decided to get drunk.”
Donghun then moved on to touch Sehyoon’s cheeks, and caressed them.
“Sehni…I’m sincerely sorry. I didn’t even notice you felt down that day. I was too focused on the practice and having fun that you looked fine to me. And...you should’ve told me you wanted for some time alone together. I would’ve canceled my meet-up with Seoham right then and have it moved to another day.”
“I thought you’d turn me down, since you already planned it.”
“Sehyoon…you’re my priority. You have all the rights to tell me everything that’s on your mind. You can tell me whatever you are feeling, and I’ll be with you.”
Donghun then crossed his arms over Sehyoon’s neck, rose up a little and kissed him on the forehead.
“Don’t forget, Kim Sehyoon. I am yours for life.”
He brushed his tongue in between his lips out of habit and quickly buried his face on Donghun’s chest just like that. His heartbeat was racing, and his cheeks and ears were turning a little red.
"I can't believe you're reddening. Is this still an effect of soju?"
"No, it's because of you. Only you can bring all kinds of emotions to my face."
“Obviously. Say, what if we skip our schedule tomorrow and cuddle all day?” Donghun suggested, and he felt Sehyoon’s lips curve upwards.
“Sounds good to me.”
They giggled and stared fondly at each other before the younger got off of him and lied down on the bed as well. After some time, Donghun shifted sideways and reached for Sehyoon’s arm, placing it over his waist before huddling up to him.
“Good night, Sehyoon.”
“Good night, Donghun. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Sehyoon was the first one to be greeted by the morning sun’s rays and in his arms was Donghun, still sleeping soundly. He smiled lovingly at him while gently stroking his cheek. Just then -- the notebook lying wide open on Donghun’s table caught his attention. He slowly reached for it, being careful not to disturb the sleeping man.
He read the contents and he had the vague idea that it was probably going to be one of the songs for their next mini album. He was amazed by the lyrics, and what especially touched him was the colorful note marked on the space beside the post-chorus.
-DH and WOW’s part ❤-
His mouth curved into a shy, bright smile before returning the notebook on his table. He then glanced at Donghun, brushing off the few strands of his lilac-tinged silver hair that covered his forehead and planted a heartfelt kiss.
However, their moment was disturbed when Donghun’s phone rang. Instinctively, the owner picked it up and placed it lazily over his ear, much to the other’s bewilderment.
“Hello…?”
“Donghun! Where are you and Sehyoon? Did the two of you forget that we’re having our photo shoot today!?” an upset, high-pitched voice greeted them, and it was no other than Park Junhee.
“Junhee. We didn’t forget. We’re just not attending today.” Donghun answered languidly, completely unbothered by his nagging.
“Ha?? Don’t tell me you’re actually together right now?”
“Yup. He has a terrible hangover and I need to take care of him.”
“What the—“
“Grant us a favor just for today, please. Save us from the boss’ tantrum. We promise to get all our parts done tomorrow.”
“Haha…excuse me?? Ugh, no. Let me talk to Sehyoon.”
Smirking, Donghun glanced at Sehyoon who was trying his hardest not to laugh.
“Want to answer?” the older whispered, and he nodded. He then took his phone and talked to Junhee.
“Hey, Jun. We’re really not participating today. Sorry, man.”
“So it’s true that you have a hangover??”
“Mm, and I need Donghun with me.”
“I didn’t know Lee Donghun was the cure for hangovers.”
“He is. Only for me, though.”
Junhee paused for a while, seemingly mulling over on how he should react.
“My god, are you both for real?? But fine. I’ll tell our CEO that both of you are not feeling well. I still have to team up with BK and Chan for this to fully convince her.”
“Yes please. We owe you one…thanks.”
“Thank you, leader Park Junhee! You’re the best!” Donghun exclaimed, and they earned a heavy sigh from him.
“Sometimes I wonder if you really are our hyungs.”
“We are, though.”
“Yes, but in age. Not in behavior. See you tomorrow, get well.”
Junhee said with emphasis and insult before ending the call, to which Donghun and Sehyoon laughed.
“Success.” The older commented with a mischievous grin, to which the younger giggled as he scooped him in his arms once again.
“You saw my notes, didn’t you?”
“Oh, so you were awake then?”
“Yeah, but not fully awake. I was only conscious of your movements.”
“Ah, I get you. The lyrics you wrote were nice…I can’t wait to sing our part together.”
“Me too.”
They looked at each other and smiled, then decided to sleep a bit more in each other’s warmth.
