“So, Gorou, when were you going to tell me about this ?” Gorou glanced up from where he was sitting on the ground underneath a lone tree near Bourou Village to see his boyfriend Kazuha.
The other had appeared as if from nowhere, but Gorou’s keen senses had detected him just a bit before he'd shown. Gorou had been sharpening arrowheads, but he'd put them down and stood up when he saw the flier Kazuha had dramatically pulled out with a flourish.
Large text splattered across the page attempted to draw the audience in--’Having trouble with your direction in life? Need advice in your love life? Why not ask an expert? Write to Ms. HIna!’--but the part that caught Gorou’s attention the most was the phrase: ‘Ms. Hina’ along with a depiction of what Gorou guessed was supposed to be a feminine version of him--although it looked more like his mother, he thought privately.
“I didn't know abou--wait, where did you get this?”
“There was one tacked to a lamppost in Bourou Village.” Kazuha answered. “Judging by your reaction, I suppose you didn't know.”
“No.” Gorou confirmed with a groan.
Lady Yae’s handiwork, he reflected grimly. It was bad enough that she had used his real last name, but did she have to make the figure resemble him so much? Well, that was probably her favorite part for her own twisted amusement. Gorou thought with a huff. He didn't realize he was tightly clenching his fists until he felt a soft touch unfurl one of his fists. Kazuha rubbed small circles in the palm of Gorou’s hand.
“Look on the bright side, Gorou." Kazuha sounded as if he was desperately trying to find something to be optimistic about, although if he was, his soothing tone masked it quite well. "At least she...made this form of you aesthetically pleasing.”
“I look like my mom in that ad.” Gorou huffed gloomily.
“Oh?” Kazuha looked back-and-forth between the sheet of paper to Gorou, comparing the two. “Quite the resemblance. It makes me wonder if our children will take after you in appearance.”
Gorou’s eyes widened. His mind was beginning to cloud with the possibility of domestic bliss, so the only thing Gorou could squeak out in response was: “Oh?”
Kazuha blinked rapidly. “I...didn’t realize I said that aloud.” He murmured sheepishly. “It wasn't--”
Gorou cut him off. “I hope they get some of you too. A little hybrid baby with your eyes would be the cutest thing ever.”
Well, that and Kazuha being pregnant. Gorou added silently to himself. His tummy getting all round from protecting the growing little pup inside. His tail started wagging at the thought happily.
Kazuha smiled softly, his eyes glowing. “I'd like that…but concerning the matter at hand, are you going to confront Guuji Yae about this ?” He held up the flier again.
“Mmm.” Gorou groaned. If he went to Yae Miko about this, she would probably turn it into another way to tease him. The last time he’d tried to confront her, it hadn’t gone well--even with the Traveler’s assistance. “Maybe we should just go check the rest of the village for these ads and then destroy them…forever.”
Kazuha laughed softly, the sound bringing a smile back to Gorou’s face. “Don’t worry, I’ll help you.”
Kazuha’s unbandaged hand was still holding Gorou’s own. Feeling a rush of affection, Gorou leaned in and gave Kazuha a peck on the cheek.
“Thank you.” He said. Being with Kazuha made even their tedious project--avoiding Yae MIko’s latest attempt to embarrass Gorou--enjoyable.
