magic in your veins

Summary:

The constant nerves provided by the three tasks that make up the Triwizard Tournament are nothing compared to the uneasiness that comes from having to face insecurities turned into mistakes, acknowledge newly awakened feelings, and change relationships that refuse to stay in the past.

Chapter Text

“I'm so, so excited!”

With a smile that has become the main element of his expression, Wooyoung can't help but vocalize those words. Certainly, as he has mentioned, he’s excited. More than excited. Although he’s aware that he's a restless person, someone who finds it difficult to remain still, without making any kind of movement, at that moment the sensation is different. It can't be described as restlessness, it’s pure emotion. Beneath the lion shield that represents his house, his heart beats, heavy and fast, against his chest.

“Please keep showing your emotion,” San's delighted tone of voice reaches his ears. “Eden will take points away from you and just like that Slytherin will win against the other houses this year.”

Finally the smile on Wooyoung's face is replaced after hearing those words decorated with determination. He stops keeping his eyes on the doors of the Great Hall to place them on his best friend, who despite wearing colors different from his, is sitting next to him.

He frowns at San's confidence. “The year is just starting. Eden won't take points from us,” Perhaps he will thanks to his pranks as he has done in previous years, but not for being overly excited. Well, technically, he did get points deducted for being excited, since excitement is the reason behind the pranks he gets up to. He doesn't think about mentioning that detail out loud.

“That's because you're a Gryffindor, it's called favoritism,” San assures him.

After listening to them and listening to San's words, one would think that they don't maintain a good relationship simply because they belong to different houses. Gryffindor and Slytherin. Snakes and lions. But they are best friends, even if San is sure that the director of the school is not entirely fair —though his wisdom is limitless. They know that if there is something that can unite two houses that, in fact, are characterized by being enemies, it's the fun produced by making pranks.

“It's called being an emotional person,” Wooyoung corrects him. San scoffs. “I am so excited!” he repeats. Again focusing on the fact that in truth, he is more than excited. “My leg won't stop shaking, San!” He says pointing to it. “I need to move, I'll overlook the fact that you've assumed that Slytherin needs Gryffindor to do poorly in order to win just because I feel the shakes. I feel like I can even fly without a broom.”

San laughs but covers his laughter with the back of his fist after Wooyoung throws him a look. He understands that Wooyoung is really excited. Not because a cheerful smile remains on his face anyway, or because his leg is certainly shaking, but because for him to mention that he feels able to fly without the help of a broom, then his emotion must be more than genuine. He clears his throat, opting to rest one of his elbows on the table so he can leave one of his cheeks against his palm.

“Yes, it shows,” San assures him.

“Hey,” Wooyoung gives him a slight push with his shoulder after seeing his reaction. “Why aren't you excited?” he asks him. San is usually on par with him when it comes to being excited. “You can't say you're tired from class because I know you didn't pay much attention, and they finished early too.”

Wooyoung is not the only person excited that night. He hadn't been the only one from Hogwarts to spot the Abraxans that had appeared in the sky pulling a carriage, as well as the ship that had risen from the water to approach the castle. Nobody knows what is happening. In addition, the classes of that day have finished earlier than normal, so although he doesn’t know what is happening, he does know that something is definitely happening.

The Sorting Ceremony has already taken place and there is still dinner left, but unbelievably, no one has touched the food. Wooyoung sees San open his mouth to reply, perhaps to give him a clue as to why he doesn't seem to have as many questions as he does, but is interrupted by Eden, who speaks for all the students.

“Now that we're all settled in and sorted, I'd like to make an announcement.” Wooyoung closes his hands into fists of emotion after hearing him. He knew it, he knew something was up. “This castle will not only be your home this year, but home to some very special guests as well. You see, Hogwarts has been chosen—”

Both Eden, Wooyoung and the rest of those present rest their eyes on Leez when he interrupts the director’s speech after entering the Great Hall, addressing Eden in a funny way. Wooyoung is sure his house prefect gives him a look when he laughs, but he promptly covers his mouth with his hand as Leez approaches Eden to exchange a few words with him. Whatever it is, Leez retreats again.

“So,” Eden picks up the word. “Hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event. The Triwizard tournament.” Wooyoung feels San's gaze on him as he can't help but take his arm in his hands. His eyes widen. “Now, for those of you who don’t know, the Triwizard tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. From each school, a single contestant is selected to compete. Now let me be clear, if chosen, you stand alone. And trust me when I say, these contests are not for the faint hearted, but more of that later. For now, please join me in welcoming the lovely students of the Beauxbatons Academic of Magic and their headmaster Ollounder.”

Wooyoung's eyes dart towards the doors of the Great Hall as the doors finally open, and he takes his head in both hands as an expression of both surprise and delight takes over his face at the sight of the sudden scene in front of him.

With light-blue uniforms, perfectly smooth and free of all stains, students from the aforementioned school enter that part of the castle, immediately drawing the attention of all those present. Not only because of the neatness of their uniform and the pointed hats that accompany it, but also because of their graceful features and the blue butterflies that seem to detach from themselves to turn their entrance into something charming.

Wooyoung quickly begins to scan the students' faces, searching for familiar facial features, and a sound of surprise leaves his lips as he finds Yeosang's face. With his black hair beneath his small but pointed hat, he keeps a calm smile on his face as he gives a small bow of his head after having introduced himself to the Hogwarts students. Wooyoung thinks his cheeks will hurt from smiling, but he doesn't care. It’s worth it. It's worth it when his childhood best friend is suddenly in the same place as him, and even more so when they haven't had the chance to see each other that summer.

He finds himself reacting quickly. He shakes San's arm. “San, San, that's Yeosang, Yeosang is here!” he exclaims, moving San's arm to grab his attention, although he doesn't even notice if San is looking where he indicates because his eyes don't leave Yeosang's figure. “He's so pretty, his uniform is kind of funny, don't you think?”

Despite starting to clap like the rest of the students, probably louder than the rest of the audience, Wooyoung manages to hear San.

“I love our uniform,” he says.

He laughs and finally his eyes stop meeting Yeosang's face after resting his gaze on San. He is glad to find him watching Yeosang. Thanks to his inability to keep quiet, and the photos he keeps by his bedside, San knows who Yeosang is and Yeosang knows who San is, but this is the first time the three of them are in the same place.

“I think you'd look good in blue,” he tells him, trying to picture him in a Beauxbatons uniform.

“Shut up,” San frowns before looking at him. “I don't want a Ravenclaw tie.”

“Isn't the feud supposed to be between our houses?”

Wooyoung laughs although San pushes him with his shoulder after hearing his question, and again rests his eyes on Yeosang, this time to allow a small lip pout to decorate his face because it shows that they have taken place at the Ravenclaw table. Luckily his table is next to the one in that house, and that gives him a glimpse of the way a pink-haired —and Wooyoung has to admit, very handsome— student, leans toward Yeosang to whisper something that causes Yeosang to cover his smile with one of his hands.

A smile once again spreads across his face, and again, Eden draws everyone's attention, including his own.

“And now, our friends from the north, please greet the proud sons of Durmstrang, and the high master Maddox.”

If Wooyoung had thought that Yeosang's presence would be the only surprise that night, he soon realizes that he was wrong, because as soon as he hears the name of the school to which the students belong, his jaw drops as he rests his eyes on the doors of the Great Hall.

Students enter, long sticks in hand to move with agility, soon giving off a completely different energy than that of the students who had previously paraded down the hall. Seriously, they create little sparks when they hit the sticks on the ground. Both Wooyoung and the others follow them with their eyes as they quickly rush over to where Eden is standing to show off their body agility after doing pirouettes, but Wooyoung's attention and eyes soon rest on the person who enters with the headmaster of his school, the student whose face had appeared in his head when he had barely heard the name of the school.

“Oh Merlin!” His hands are on San's arm again. “Oh Merlin! Kim Hongjoong is here!”

Sure enough, Hongjoong walks down the hall to approach his companions, who at that moment create a small fire dragon. Determined, decided, and without hesitating, his presence not only attracts Wooyoung's attention, but everyone else's. A student, but also a professional Quidditch player, recognized for his abilities on the pitch as well as the energy and youth he brings to his team.

As some of the people around him start whispering to each other and the respective school directors greet each other, Wooyoung is aware that he is still breathing only because at that moment he feels San's hand rest on his, the one that is still clinging to the black color of his uniform.

“Didn't you see him all summer?” San asks him, since certainly, if he hasn't seen Yeosang throughout the summer as he is used to doing every year, it’s because that vacation, he had been busy training with Hongjoong and the rest of his team after being invited to practice with them since he is also a good Quidditch player.

“Even so! Oh come on San, even you have to be excited!”

Both he and San are Quidditch fans, as well as Quidditch players after both being part of their respective house teams. Not only do they face each other in the corridors when it comes to winning the House Cup, but also when they find themselves flying on their brooms, throwing the quaffle at each other because perhaps it is true that they are best friends, but the rivalry is accentuated on their shoulders when it comes to winning matches.

He looks at San when he pats his hand. “I am, and Durmstrang just sat in Slytherin, so, see ya!”

At his sudden words, Wooyoung turns to rest his eyes on the Slytherin table and indeed sees the Durmstrang students taking place there, Hongjoong's presence promptly drawing the attention of those in that house. San seems to take advantage of his distraction to get up.

“Take the opportunity to talk to your blue friend, I'll be busy striking up a conversation with none other than Kim Hongjoong, I'll tell him that Slytherin is the best house.”

Wooyoung allows an expression of offense to decorate his face after listening to San, who at that moment only winks at him and gives him his best smile before finally turning away from him and his table to approach his own. He turns to rest his elbows on the table and squish his cheeks into them because he doesn't want to see San convince Hongjoong that Slytherin is the best house in Hogwarts. He pouts, until he realizes that turning around again gives him a chance to rest his eyes on the Ravenclaw table, and a smile returns to rest on his face as he finds Yeosang with ease.

Although having had the chance to train with a professional Quidditch team —and Kim Hongjoong no less—, he had been saddened by the fact that having accepted that offer had therefore caused him to miss out on the chance to see Yeosang and his family during the summer. Since they both attend schools that are in different countries, seeing each other is difficult, so their parents usually agree to spend vacations together since they are also friends —precisely for that reason, his friendship with Yeosang was born— for as long as he can remember.

Wooyoung straightens up and is sure his gaze sparkles when his eyes finally meet Yeosang's, but just as he thinks of raising his arm to greet him, Eden's voice interrupts his plans.

“Your attention please!” Wooyoung wrinkles his nose, but smiles after not doubting that at that moment Yeosang maintains an amused smile on his face because he knows he has been interrupted, and they both break eye contact after resting their eyes on the Hogwarts headmaster. “I would like to say a few words. Eternal glory, that is what awaits the student who wins the Triwizard tournament. But to do this, that student must survive three tasks. Three extremely dangerous tasks.”

Wooyoung bites his lower lip. He had been so distracted by the presence of his best friend as well as the Quidditch player he admires that he had forgotten that they are all in the same place for a reason. The Triwizard Tournament. He can't help but wonder why they've decided to hold it again, since as far as he knows, the tournament hasn't been held for the last twenty years due to the extreme danger it represents. Eden himself just made sure of it.

“For this reason, and also, as this year we will be accompanied by students from other schools, and since the tournament will take place throughout the year, this year the Quidditch Cup is canceled,” Eden proceeds.

If Wooyoung were asked what kind of nightmare it would be to suddenly wake him up, with his heart pounding against his chest and likely sweat trickling down the back of his neck, it would be the scene that Eden just turned into a reality at that moment. As complaints from the students are heard throughout the Great Hall, Wooyoung automatically turns to allow his gaze to meet San's.

Although they are both sitting at different tables and neither opens their mouths, they know they are thinking the same thing. No Quidditch for a year? That is torture. They love Quidditch. Nerves run through their bodies every time they get on their brooms, but also joy, happiness at being close to the sky and its clouds, and at facing each other. Wooyoung promptly lets his forehead fall onto the table of his house —perhaps with more force than planned—, but promptly straightens up when Eden speaks again.

“Quiet please!” He asks, finally managing to silence all the complaints.

The pout that had taken over Wooyoung's lips soon fades to a surprised expression as he watches Eden point his wand at the box he had left in front of everyone. Slowly, it disappears until a goblet of blue flames glows.

“The Goblet of Fire,” he says in case someone had continued to wonder. Wooyoung forces himself to blink, drawn to the color of the flames on it. “Anyone wishing to submit themselves for the tournament merely write their name upon a piece of parchment, and throw it in the flame before this hour on Thursday night. Do not do so lightly, if chosen, there's no turning back. As from this moment, the Triwizard tournament has begun.”

Wooyoung lets a breath of air leave his mouth as soon as the announcement is over and dinner finally begins. Since San has chosen to leave the place next to him to sit at his table; with meat in his mouth, he takes advantage of the dinner to think about the words heard, and therefore, the event introduced. The first thing he thinks is that, since there will be no Quidditch tournament, he will somehow need to expend his daily energy, and the tournament sounds like the ideal chance.

He thinks he should think it over. At the end of the day Eden has expressed that this is not an easy tournament, and that once he enters, there is no chance of backing out. Wooyoung doesn't think that's a problem. Perhaps because he is a student of the Gryffindor house or perhaps because he has always had a mania for acting and then thinking instead of thinking and then acting, but he never backs down. He doesn't think it's a bad idea, and besides, only one Hogwarts student will be chosen to participate, and he doubts luck is on his side.

He wonders if San will decide to participate, or even Mingi. He remembers that they won't be able to compete with each other since only one student per school is chosen, and this leads him to rest his eyes on the Ravenclaw table, specifically on the corner where the Beauxbatons students are sitting, chatting among themselves.

He again bumps into Yeosang talking to the pink-haired student. They are sitting side by side. Wooyoung wonders if they are classmates, although to him, Yeosang's schoolmate seems a bit older than them. He can't help but wonder if Yeosang will participate. Perhaps so, considering that only a handful of students from his school have been taken to Hogwarts and he doubts they've been chosen solely to watch from the sidelines.

The idea of competing with Yeosang excites him. He knows that although Yeosang may seem small, fragile even, he is strong. Both mentally and physically. He also wonders if Hongjoong will decide to participate. He definitely has the appearance of the typical tournament participant. He is strong, more than strong. Even if he is young, Wooyoung believes that there is no other player who comes close to the strong presence that Hongjoong has.

It's only once the Beauxbatons students get up, and thus Yeosang, that he stops thinking about the tournament. He straightens up because he wants to talk to Yeosang, and he thinks that his posture as well as his expression shows it because Yeosang looks at the door of the Great Hall to indicate him to come closer, and therefore he doesn't hesitate to leave his place at the table once the students of that school leave that part of the castle. He again scans unfamiliar faces until he comes across familiar facial features.

“Sangie!” He can't help but exclaim as soon as he catches sight of him. Maybe because he's always a bit over the top when it comes to physical contact, or maybe because he wants to believe that Yeosang has missed him too. He doesn't know it, but Yeosang doesn't back down when his arms find his body to hug him. “How good it is to see you!”

A more than happy smile decorates his face after feeling Yeosang's arms wrap around his body as well. Accustomed to spending three months side by side, not having seen each other has made them miss each other more than usual.

“You too.” Wooyoung lets a chuckle escape his lips after hearing Yeosang's voice close to his ear. The letters between them never stop, but they are not comparable when meeting face to face. “Air, please.”

“Uh, sorry.” Wooyoung keeps smiling even though he stops hugging him. He takes the time to watch him, delighting in the way Yeosang seems to have grown a bit since they've last seen each other. If he's slightly taller than he is now, he doesn't mention it, but he does manage to keep smiling after his gaze sweeps over his face, being more than happy to have the opportunity to do so. His birthmark as intact as ever. “I’ve missed you a lot.”

Yeosang holds his hands behind his back. “Me too,” he assures him with a small smile. His cheeks have a barely visible pinkish hue.

“You look so pretty,” Wooyoung can't help but mention.

He thinks that Yeosang has always been pretty. He reminds it by complimenting him on any given occasion. He also believes that he is not the only one to notice the beauty that he owns. His black locks still gleam over the blue hat he has put on again. His facial features are defined but also graceful. He is pretty.

Yeosang slightly lowers his head after hearing his words and the corners of his mouth turn up. Wooyoung smiles because even though they are best friends and Wooyoung makes comments about him often, Yeosang still acts shy around him.

“Do you think they sat us down with the Ravenclaws because we’re also blue?” Yeosang chooses to ask him. Just as Yeosang knows the names of the houses in Hogwarts thanks to the letters sent between them, Wooyoung knows that Beauxbatons also has houses, although in their case, three instead of four.

Wooyoung laughs upon hearing him. “Perhaps, though if so, Durmstrang should have been with us, Gryffindor, and that didn't happen.” Indignant, he crosses his arms. Although Durmstrang students have appeared that night dressed in brown uniforms, everyone knows that they are also characterized by more formal red clothing.

Along with an amused smile, probably due to Wooyoung's reaction, Yeosang tilts his head before asking, “Annoyed?”

Noticing that his question has been asked on purpose since his indignation is obvious, Wooyoung doesn't hesitate to make the tip of his index finger meet Yeosang's chest. The bluish fabric of his uniform is soft to the touch. “I know you're not interested in Quidditch but this is Kim Hongjoong, Sangie!”

Unlike him, Wooyoung knows that Yeosang has never liked Quidditch. Wooyoung believes that Yeosang would have been an interesting player, someone flashy to play against as he has no doubt that he has enough strength, but Yeosang has always expressed that he finds the sport a bit intense for his liking.

“I know,” Yeosang assures him. He makes sure to fix his uniform even though Wooyoung's finger on it has done absolutely nothing. “Trust me, even I know who he is,” he adds, still looking at the bluish color of his clothing.

Instead of starting to think about the fact that Quidditch has apparently been canceled that year, and therefore he won't be facing San, and that he won't have any opportunity to put into practice everything he has learned with Hongjoong during summer; he decides to focus on the fact that his best friend is in front of him right now instead of miles away.

“I'm glad you're here,” he tells him. “I wish you had been with us. You should all have sat in Gryffindor. I'm so glad you're here, finally getting to know Hogwarts, I'll show you absolutely everything, all the corridors, the classrooms, the gardens—”

“Tonight,” Yeosang cuts him off. Wooyoung smiles, a bit embarrassed because he knows that he has talked too much. “I want to sleep, the carriage ride has been long.”

“Of course, of course!” he assures him without hesitation. “We have a lot of time. You also have to know the quidditch field even if we won't be playing this year for the tournament, but anyway, still, you could watch me fly—”

“And make a fool of yourself?”

Yeosang could have interrupted him a second time, probably to bring up those words since even though one is looser than the other, they both know that Yeosang has a sassy side. But no, Yeosang hasn't opened his mouth, and instead, he has seen what Wooyoung believes behind him. Wooyoung immediately turns around, as he has been listening to that voice all summer.

“Hongjoong-hyung, of course not!” He complains, promptly allowing his ears to be delighted by the laughter of Hongjoong, who is behind him and whom he doesn't hesitate to hug even though he knows that, like Yeosang, he isn't a fan of physical contact either. That night he seems to be lucky, since luckily, Hongjoong returns his hug. “Let's play, let's play! I will not make a fool of myself!” he exclaims as soon as he remembers his words, “We've been practicing all summer!”

“I know, it's good to see you,” Hongjoong expresses along with a smile. Wooyoung has to admit that he likes to see him in his uniform instead of with sports clothes, and even more so without a broom in hand. Hongjoong rests his eyes on Yeosang. “You must be Yeosang. He's been mentioning you all summer,” he says, tilting his head at Wooyoung.

“Hyung!” Wooyoung exclaims.

“Hyung, we already know each other.”

Any other claim Wooyoung planned to add after hearing Hongjoong mention to Yeosang that he hasn't stopped talking about him all summer, gets caught in the back of his throat after Yeosang's words hit his brain. He blinks. He switches his surprised look between them, and he can't help but express, “What?”

Hongjoong chuckles as Wooyoung's eyes finally settle on him. “I'm sorry, I wanted to pretend not to, but it was the funniest thing to hear you talk all summer,” he says, and Hongjoong looks at Yeosang. “How have you been, Yeosang?”

Wooyoung blinks again. He rests his gaze on Yeosang. When he had mentioned that even he knows who Kim Hongjoong is, he had assumed that it is because Hongjoong is a rising Quidditch star, not because they literally know each other.

“Fine,” Yeosang replies along with a small smile. “And you?”

“How come—”

“Tout va bien par ici?”

Suddenly Yeosang is no longer the only Beauxbatons student present in front of him, and the question that Wooyoung had started to ask is interrupted. He is the pink-haired student. He rests his hands on Yeosang's shoulders. Yeosang seems to be used to that action as he is not surprised by it. Wooyoung tilts his head.

“Did you just insult us?” Wooyoung asks him.

“Tout est bien,” Hongjoong expresses.

“Hyung!” Wooyoung stops locking eyes with the pink-haired student to rest his eyes on Hongjoong. “You speak French?”

“A little bit.”

"I asked Yeosangie if everything is alright because the voices were a bit loud.” Again his attention is focused on the pink-haired student.

Between the fact that Yeosang and Hongjoong know each other, that Hongjoong speaks French while he doesn't —and he should considering that Yeosang's school is in France— and that this mysterious yet handsome student from Beauxbatons has joined the conversation, Wooyoung doesn't know what to start questioning first.

“And I told him everything is fine,” Hongjoong adds.

All the other facts are thrown out when Wooyoung only needs to switch his gaze between Hongjoong and the Beauxbatons student to realize that they are exchanging a look that is anything but neutral. Although the Beauxbatons student continues with his hands on Yeosang's shoulders and he is by Hongjoong’s side, it's as if they've vanished, no longer present. Hongjoong keeps the corners of his mouth turned up but he's not smiling at all, while the other remains serious.

Yeosang is the person who breaks the sudden tension. “Everything is fine, hyung,” he says, looking at his schoolmate. “He is Wooyoung.”

“Oh, the much acclaimed best friend.”

“Hyung.” Yeosang hides his face behind one of his hands.

Wooyoung smiles as soon as he hears those words. Apparently he's not the only one who can't keep his mouth shut. “That's me!” He doesn't hesitate to exclaim, forgetting the previous tension to start thinking that he likes the other Beauxbatons student because he pays attention to Yeosang when he apparently talks about him. “And he's Kim Hongjoong, though he needs no introduction, of course.” Wooyoung smiles though he wonders why Yeosang is biting his lower lip at that moment, seeming expectant.

“We are all introduced except you,” Hongjoong emphasizes.

Right, they still don't know the name.

Yeosang rests his eyes on his schoolmate after hearing Hongjoong's words. He seems to narrow his gaze for a few seconds before choosing to part his lips and decide to introduce himself.

“Park Seonghwa,” he says with a fixed look in Hongjoong.

“Not a Hogwarts student, the color gives you away.”

Wooyoung can't help the obvious expression that he doesn't doubt that at that moment takes over his face after considering obvious the words that Hongjoong has mentioned. Like Yeosang, Seonghwa is also dressed all in light-blue. He hopes that by now Yeosang is holding back from laughing at the expression that has taken over his face.

“Did you decide not to wear red so your hair wouldn't match it?”

Running his fingers through his red locks, Hongjoong gives a chuckle that sounds as sincere as it is false. “And here I was trying to be nice.”

“Trying,” Seonghwa emphasizes. “You are not a Hogwarts student either so your hospitality is not necessary.”

“You like bad boys, I understand, I can be bad if you want.”

This time, Yeosang's confused expression mimics Wooyoung's. A look of puzzlement graces Seonghwa's face, and he speaks before Hongjoong can express regret for the terrible set of words he just uttered.

“What I want is for this conversation to end. Come on, Yeosangie, you must be tired.” Without adding anything else, Seonghwa walks away from the conversation.

Yeosang glances between them after having followed Seonghwa's figure withs his eyes. He watches Hongjoong for a few seconds, seeming to feel bad about the brief but intense exchange of words between them, and then his gaze rests on Wooyoung. “Good night,” he tells them, giving them a brief smile before hurrying to catch up with Seonghwa.

Wooyoung and Hongjoong spend a few seconds in silence, both watching the two Beauxbatons students walk away from them. Wooyoung can't help but wonder what has happened when he had only thought of having a quiet conversation with Yeosang before they both went to sleep.

“Hyung, your Quidditch skills obviously outweigh your flirting skills,” Wooyoung finally finds himself saying, “That was embarrassing.”

“I wasn't flirting.”

“Mh.”

“I was trying to point out the similarities!”

Wooyoung can't help but laugh. “Same hair color scale?” he asks, still laughing, but he raises his eyebrows when his laugh is intermingled with another. He looks behind them, and a big smile takes over his expression.

“That was so good to witness and it's only the first night,” Yunho expresses with a hand over his mouth to prevent his laugh from being obvious although a chuckle leaves his lips anyway after speaking.

“Hyung, you didn't even need us to make a fool of yourself this time,” Jongho, who is next to him, adds. “Apparently not everyone is your fan.”

“Double Ho!” Wooyoung extends his arms as soon as they finish speaking. “I have missed you!” He stops being with Hongjoong to approach them and hug them.

“Don't call us that,” both Yunho and Jongho say at the same time.

Yunho hugs him just as excited as Jongho pats him briefly on the back before pulling away. Wooyoung glances between them, smiling as he realizes that after focusing on Hongjoong, he had forgotten about the fact that if Durmstrang is at Hogwarts, that means Yunho and Jongho are too, as they are both wearing the respective uniform.

The three rest their eyes on Hongjoong when they hear him let out a snort before smacking his forehead with his own hand. “I can be bad if you want... what was I even thinking...”

“Clearly, nothing, hyung,” Jongho answers although it was a rhetorical question.

Wooyoung has to admit that although he likes the fact that Yeosang seems to get along with his schoolmates, seeming close to Seonghwa, the tension had been felt as soon as he had joined the conversation. He had never been the target of his gaze, while Hongjoong had. Maybe Seonghwa is a fan of other Quidditch teams and for that very reason he doesn't like Hongjoong. “The vibe was so weird.” He finds himself unable to lie.

“Oh.” Yunho rests a hand on his shoulder. “That's hyung's ex.”

Wooyoung wonders how many surprises can happen in the course of one night. Considering that they finished dinner a few minutes ago, he thinks that maybe it's better to go to bed early that night before sentences with surprise prompts keep coming to his ears. He allows his jaw to drop in surprise at Yunho's words, and he rests his wide-open gaze on Hongjoong.

“Your ex!?”

Hongjoong smacks his forehead with his hand again. Wooyoung realizes that they are indeed both equally Quidditch fans not because they play it, but because they have been talking about the sport all summer. In the course of a single night, he has already found out that Hongjoong knows Yeosang, that he can speak French, and that he has an ex. Data that he has never previously released. That hasn't stopped him from telling him about Yeosang. He thinks that trying to think of the reactions when he had mentioned the name of his best friend is pointless.

“Maybe the Hogwarts students are your fans while the Beauxbatons' are not,” Jongho points out. “Maybe people in France don't like you, maybe Seonghwa-hyung has made sure of that.”

Hearing Jongho's words, while Yunho laughs and Hongjoong glances at them, Wooyoung rests his eyes in the Great Hall after hearing that Hogwarts students are Hongjoong's fans. It seems that the others must have left while he was talking to Yeosang and witnessing the strange conversation between Hongjoong and Seonghwa, his apparent ex —which actually explains the tension, and also why Yeosang and Hongjoong know each other—; since he doesn't meet San's face. A pout caresses his lips.

“Hey guys, have you seen San?” he asks Yunho and Jongho. “Have you met him? He was sitting with you at the table.”

“Oh yeah!” Yunho replies. “He's nice, he left, said he was tired.”

The pout deepens over Wooyoung's lips. In addition to talking to Yeosang, he had wanted to introduce him to San because even if both of them have finally seen each other for the first time, they haven't started a conversation yet, and apparently, they won't until tomorrow at least because they both left. Wooyoung allows his shoulders to slump. San usually stays with him after dinner so as not to go to his common room right away. Before he can think about the fact that San has been acting weird, Yunho's laughter distracts him.
