Lots (and lots) of surprises

Summary:

It was noon, on a crisp autumn day.

Robin was stacking CD’s, seeing how high she could get her tower, and Steve was reading the descriptions of the boxes they belonged to. They were supposed to be keeping an eye out for customers, but no one had come in literally all day.

Steve was quieter than usual, he had a look of wistfulness in his eyes.

Robin had noticed.

Notes:

I needed content. So I made my own.

I will be progressively adding more to this, and I'll try have them get together within a month of me typing this.

Chapter Text

It was noon, on a crisp autumn day.

Robin was stacking CD’s, seeing how high she could get her tower, and Steve was reading the descriptions of the boxes they belonged to. They were supposed to be keeping an eye out for customers, but no one had come in literally all day.

Steve was quieter than usual, he had a look of wistfulness in his eyes.

Robin had noticed.

"Oi, dingus"

"What?"

"Tell me what's up"

"Nothings up"

"No, I can tell somethings up you idiot. Your dogshit at hiding your emotions."

Steve shifted in his chair, deeply exhaling

"You got me" He sighed.

"What can I say? Your easy to figure out" She laughed, leaning forward, crossing her arms and leaning them on the table.

"Yeah, I guess"

"Now tell me what's up before I loose interest."

Steve shifted again, he seemed anxious. "Look Robin. I've been thinking."

"About what?"

"All my past relationships, and how shit they've all ended. Every girl I date, I just fall out of love with. I just can't enjoy dating anymore."

Steve sighed. This wasn't even the hardest bit to tell her. He had kept this bottled up for weeks now, and it had made him feel sick. He'd suspected it was the case for awhile now, and he just couldn't accept it. All this, and he only just realized. God, why did he have to-

"HELLO?? EARTH TO STEVE" Robin jeered, waving her hand in front of his face. "You've been staring into space for a minute."

"Robin. I need to tell you something, something I've been keeping inside for awhile."

"Oh." She replied, shocked by his change of tone, "Alright. Tell me then, dingus."

"Don't make fun of me-"

"I probably will, you know me Steve"

"Yeah yeah"

"Tell me you twat I'm loosing interest"

"OK OK-" He rushed, gesturing for her to calm down "Alright. Look, Robin I think I- I'm-" He stuttered

"Spit it out," She teased, leaning back in her chair.

"ROBIN I THINK IM GAY, OK!" Steve yelled. Oh shit I told her- ok don't panic. Oh fuck- what if she tells everyone, even worse, what if she tells him.

That surprised her. Robin looked shocked, and little did they know, so did Max. Yep, she'd walked into the video store without being noticed and decided she was gonna listen to their whole conversation. She didn't have anything else to do, and couldn't stand being at home as Billy was at there, blasting music while making a playlist for another rando he'd fallen in love with.

"Steve, The Hair Harrington." Robin remarked "is GAY???? The fucking chic magnet, is gay." She breathed. Leaning in towards him.

"I was fucking right. Congrats for figuring out, welcome to the club." She embraced him, hugging tightly.

Steve was surprised by this. He knew she would support him, and probably make fun of him for it. However, he was not expecting her to hug him. Robin didn't do hugs. Like, ever.

"Thanks, Rob." He hugged her back, deeply exhaling. He had finally come out to someone. A huge weight had been lifted off him, he felt fucking free.

Meanwhile, Max was stood behind one of the carboard cut outs, in awe at what she just heard

"Well," She whispered, "Wasn't expecting that."

Robin let go of him and smugly smiled.

"You don't just randomly realize your gay, trust me Steve, I know exactly what happened", she gleefully added "Who's your crush."

"ROBIN- I- he- I don't have one." He solemnly murmured, through gritted teeth.

"Your still a shit liar Steve"

"Ugh, fine," He groaned, leaning in towards Robins ear, whispering in.

Robin's jaw dropped, and her eyes widened.

"YOU LIKE BILLY? BILLY FUCKING HARGROVE? THE- HE'S-"

She was cut off.

"YOU LIKE MY BROTHER?"

Steve and Robin whipped around, looking dead at Max, mouths hanging open.

"Uhhhhh..." Max blurted out, "Hi."
