Mobius was just finishing setting the table when he heard the door open and close. He couldn't hold back a smile because that meant Loki was home. He put what he had in his hand on the table and headed for the entrance.
He barely had time to get through the door when Loki threw himself into his arms and held him close. Then he felt him breathe into his neck and whisper softly, "Finally."
Mobius took him by the shoulders and pulled him back a little.
"Loki, did something happen? Everything alright?"
Loki nodded and replied, "I just missed you."
Mobius looked at him with a fond smile, "It's only been a few hours, sweetheart."
Loki shrugged, "I just can't help it."
Mobius pushed a lock of Loki's hair back behind his ear and said softly, "How could people think you were a real villain?"
Loki kissed his forehead, "You didn't think so."
Mobius shook his head, "Never."
He stroked Loki's cheek, looked him in the eye and added, "I watched this little boy grow up to be this mischievous, intelligent, powerful god, but all I saw was this scared little boy, shivering in the cold, just wanting to be loved and acknowledged. And in his quest for love, I saw him going to his destruction and death time and time again, unable to do anything to stop it, so when you came along after grabbing the Tesseract, I knew this was my chance. My chance to show you that you were worth so much, infinitely more than the sum of all your mistakes. And I have never regretted it. You are extraordinary Loki Laufeyson."
Mobius concluded his speech with a tender, lingering kiss that was interrupted by the rumbling of Loki's stomach.
They burst out laughing and Mobius took his hand to lead him to the kitchen. Loki stopped him, forcing him to turn around, then pulling him against him he whispered, "I am only extraordinary because you showed me that I could be. For that Mobius, you too are extraordinary."
He leaned over and kissed him deeply. When they caught their breath, this time it was Mobius' stomach that showed its impatience. They laughed again as they walked to the kitchen.
Between laughs, Mobius exclaimed, "Extraordinary, but hungry."
This was so them, two exceptional beings, living a life that was both ordinary and extraordinary.
Like their love.
