Work Text:

Perry tried to see the Flynn-Fletcher family as just a host family, he really did. But he couldn't help himself.

He got attached to them. They love him just as much as he loves them. It's kind of pathetic, really. He's only been apart of this family for a few months, he was not supposed to love and get attached so quickly. He's supposed to be stoic and hardworking. Not that he's not still hardworking, it's just harder to be stoic now that he's started to care about Phineas and Ferb.

Perry knows how bad it is to get attached to a host family. It could only end in heartbreak. There are a lot of things that could happen that would lead him to be relocated. If his host family finds out about his secret identity, If OWCA finds out how much he's started to care about his host family, or if Dr. Doofenshmirtz stops being evil. All these things could lead to him being relocated.

Not that he was going to let that happen. Perry was the best of OWCA's agents. If he can't make sure to keep his identity and feelings a secret. Then what kind of secret agent was he. No, the first two things will be easy. It's the third one that's tricky, because it's out of his control.

He didn't think he had too much to worry about though. Dr. Doofenshmirtz might not be completely evil but he is dangerous and unpredictable. That should be enough to know that he won't be relocated anytime soon.

"Moooom!"

Perry looked over from where he was sitting next to Phineas and Ferb. To see Candace tugging on her mother's shirt. The family, minus Lawrence, who was at work, are at the mall. Linda told her kids to pick out one toy to take home. One for each of them and no more while she looked at the shopping list. Phineas and Ferb couldn't decide what to get. Phineas saying how they could make them better then they were and Ferb nodding his head in agreement.

Linda always thought that the boys just had a big imagination. That was only partly true. If the boys decided that their going to make something, their most likely going to make it, and succeed in doing so. Perry was very proud of them.

"Candace stop tugging on my shirt, I'm trying to read the shopping list." Linda down at her daughter and Candace let go of her mother's shirt and her crossed her arms, pouting.

"But mom, Phineas and Ferb are taking to long to pick a toy, and I don't like any of them, their all for boys."

"Candace, you can wait a few more minutes, it shouldn't take them too long now, just be a little more patient."

Linda went back to looking at the list, the cart, and the list again as she crossed out a few things on the list. Candace glared up at her mother for moment then looked around the large toy section of the mall. It would be very easy to get lost here.

Perry sighed as he watched Candace wonder off on her own. He should of known this would happened. Nothing good ever happens on his days off.

Candace didn't like him very much. He didn't like when she tripped over him but she was still apart of his family. Perry wasn't just going to let her wonder around on her own, she was just a little girl after all.

Perry kept out of sight as Candace looked around the large toy store. He figured she should have her fun, he was watching over her, so nothing bad should happen. Besides, if she saw him, she would just tell him to go away. It was easier to look after her this way.

It didn't take long for her to find a whole aisle full of ducky momo toys. They way Candace's eyes light up from seeing ducky momo, made Parry smile. It wasn't often that Candace got so excited about something. It was cute.

There wasn't a lot a people here. So it wasn't hard to notice the man that didn't belong here. His hair and clothes were unkempt, and looking into his eyes made it obvious that he was on something. Perry froze up, especially when the man's eyes locked on to Candace.

Candace heard a loud bang and someone yelling, but when she looked around her and didn't see anyone, she shrugged, and went back to looking at the ducky momo plush in her hands. She was definitely going to get this. Though it was very hard to choose just one toy. She now understood why it took so long for Phineas and Ferb to choose.

Perry was seeing red. It wasn't very often that he got truly angry. Annoyed, yes, but angry, no that wasn't him. He was supposed to be the stoic and calm secret agent. That's how he always was. He was a professional, after all. But there are things that can make him lose it. One of those things are people who would hurt a child, and the other, is someone who would dare hurt his kids.

So it didn't take long to beat this man into a bloody pulp, knock him out, tie him up and put him in a broom closet. While calling OWCA he tried to keep his breathing under control.

"Agent P, why are calling on your day-" he stopped as soon as saw the look on Perry's face. Major Monogram looked uncomfortable. He never seen his best agent this angry before. "Um, are you okay, Agent P."

He chattered angrily and pointed the wrist watch at the monster, then back at himself.

"Did... you catch a criminal, Agent P."

He nodded courtly. "Right, right will be sure send someone right away. You can send in your report tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your day off, Agent P." Major Monogram said it all in a rush and hung up quickly. Obviously not wanting to deal with angry Perry.

Perry didn't care, all he wanted to do was go back to his family. To make sure they're all okay, but he couldn't leave this guy untended, so he had to wait. Fortunately, he didn't have to wait long and backup came in record time to take the guy away. He guessed being angry had it's perks.

By the time he made it back to where Candace was. She was crying as her mother yelled at her for running off. Phineas and Ferb looked uncomfortable as their mother yelled. Linda didn't yell at her kids often.

"I'm sorry, I just wanted ducky momo!" She cried. Linda's face softened a little and she pulled Candace into a hug.

"Okay Candace, you can have the ducky momo plush. Just promise me your never wonder off like that again. Something really bad could have happened to you."

"Okay, mom, I promise." Candace hugged her mother back.

Perry grimaced at Linda's words. She had no idea how true those words were. He shook his head, he wasn't going to think about it. Perry took his hat off and walked on all fours over to Phineas.

"Oh, there you are Perry." Phineas picked him up and hugged him. Perry cuddled up to Phineas and chattered, happy to be with his boys again. He wishes he could tell them that he was here and that he wouldn't let anything hurt them. But that would blow his cover and he also couldn't talk, so the only thing he could do was cuddle them to tell them how much he cared, he hopes that's enough.

His kids would never know how far he would go to protect them. That was okay, Perry didn't want them to know how cruel the world could be sometimes. He would try to keep that from them for as long he could.
