It was a night you had been longing for for a while. It had been 3 weeks since you had been home. You were called to a mission overseas and the curse you were tracking down had become much more complicated than you were expecting.
After lots of grueling work and setbacks, you were relieved to finally come home. You were so excited to be in the comfort of your own home and sleep in your bed. But the most exciting part about returning was being able to see your husband again.
Every night, when you had time, you spent texting and facetiming Toge. However, you were ready to see him in person for the first time in a very long month.
As you step out of the terminal and into the airport, you look around eagerly for sight of Toge. He had promised to meet up with you and take you home despite your flight coming in in the middle of the night. Just as you would do anything for him, he would do anything for you.
Since it is so early, there’s not much of a crowd to look through and you soon spot your husband’s silver hair and half covered face. You quickly run over to him and throw yourself into his open arms. He squeezes you tight and for the first time in a month, you feel whole again.
You grasp onto him with all the might your tired body can muster. You take in his warmth, his cologne that is your favorite, and the feel of his hands as they hold onto your back with a gentle yet firm force. He missed you as much as you missed him.
The two of you stay like this for a while until you pull back to see his face. You are finally able to take in the sight of him and notice the longing and love in his eyes. He reaches into his pocket and pulls his phone out to type a note, asking if you were ready to go home.
You eagerly nod your head and take his hand to walk out of the airport and to the car. The drive home was thankfully quick. Once you’re out of the car and walking into the house, you breathe in the scent of familiarity.
Toge takes your bags and brings them to the bedroom for you to sort through later. You follow him and plop onto the bed. Hotel beds could never compare to the comfort of the bed you share. You almost start to doze off but feel a small tap on your arm. You open your eyes and see that Toge has a fresh pair of pajamas for you. Always so thoughtful.
You lazily begin undressing and changing with the help of your husband. Once dressed, Toge pulls back the covers and the both of you slip under. With the blankets surrounding the both of you, you press yourself into your husband’s warm and comforting body while he slides his arms around you and holds you close.
“I missed this. I missed you.” You sleepily mumble.
His grip on you tightens and he kisses your forehead. In the quiet of the night, you hear, “I love you.”
Soon after the both of you fall asleep in each other’s arms. It’s the best sleep you’ve had in weeks.
