Work Text:

Today was not a good day for Kaito. He trudged towards his dorm room opening the door with a heavy sigh. He head towards the bathroom and looked at himself in the mirror. It had taken everything for the end of his last class not to burst into tears.

Why did everyone leave him?

Why was everyone disappearing from his life? He looked at himself again and broke down crying. He cried into his hands, instantly making them wet. He rubbed them away, feeling it drip down his chin.

He tried so hard not to sob, but it was starting to come out louder. He masked the sound best he could but he let a few whines slip here and there.

He sat on the bathroom floor, knees hugging his chest.

Life is hard to navigate by yourself.

Kaito began to think about the events that played out that day. God, he was an asshole wasn’t he? Why couldn’t he talk things out like a man? Kaito slammed his head into his hands softly, feeling nothing but weak.

He slowly stood up, wandering to at least change into something comfortable. He threw some sweats on and curled up under the covers. All of a sudden there was a faint knock at the door.

He contemplated not answering it, but instead he laid there, to call.

“Come in.”

The door knob slowly turned, revealing Shuichi.

Kaito gave a soft smile. Thank god the only person he COULD talk to in this moment was the one who showed up. Shuichi came over quickly and pulled Kaito into a soft embrace.

“You seemed off today. You must be upset about something. You don’t even have to tell me at all, but I’m here if you need anything.”

Kaito wanted to cry harder, not out of sadness though, but for love of his friend.

“Thank you for coming Shuichi.”

Shuichi climbed in next to Kaito and sat under the blanket with him.

“So you don’t need anything.”

Kaito looked up at him with teary eyes, then down into his chest to hug him again, but tighter.

Kaito began to softly cry again.

“I’m so lonely, you’re the only person I have anymore.”

“Kaito… I love you but there’s a few other people who care for you too, you know that right?”

Kaito shrugged, giving a small grunt.

“I feel lonely.”

“It’s okay to feel that way.”

Shuichi inhaled softly, rubbing circles Into Kaito’s bag.

“I feel anxious Shuichi.”

Shuichi smiled, not happy his friend was anxious, but that he was being open.

“And that’s okay too Kaito. You’re being open with me today.”

“oh, sorry.”

“No it’s okay. It’s better to talk about things than bottle them up you know?”

Kaito smiled against Shuichi’s chest, then eventually lifted his head up.

“Can you kiss me?”

Shuichi chucked a bit.

“I cant say no to that.”

Shuichi brought Kaito’s face close to his, giving a quick peck. He tried to stay still, Kaito’s goat rubbing up against his chin.

“You need to shave.”

Kaito pulled back, feeling his own facial hair.

“You don’t like it?”

“I think it looks great on you Kaito, it’s just a bit.. too long?”

Kaito smiled and leaned back.

“You’re Right maybe I should. Hey Shuichi? Thank you for letting me cry in front of you. It’s not the most manly to cry with another guy… especially not one who’s my boyfriend ya know? But you still see me as manly.. and strong. Even though I’m sensitive.”

“Kaito, you’re human. Every human experiences emotions. I personally think you’re more manly for being able to cry and still have confidence in yourself.”

Kaito rolls his eyes.

“You’re so cheesy.“

“Says you!”

The two laugh together, this ends up in another kiss. They stay like this for a bit until Kaito eventually gets too tired.

The next morning Kaito woke up to Shuichi shaking him gently.

Kaito sits up, immediately being given a cup.

“I know you like tea in the morning.”

Shuichi was standing right in front of him, wearing some of his clothes. Kaito smiled at this, adoring his smaller partner.

“Thank you Shuichu.”

“You’re welcome, Kaito. Today will be better Hmm?”

“I cant promise.. but I’ll try my best.”
