Chapter Text
During his 15th year, Harry James Potter learned a lot about the people he had come to call family. One of these things he had stumbled on completely by accident while exploring Grimmauld place.
He was looking around Sirius' room when he found a handful of pictures, some were of his parents, others were of Remus or Sirius and a large number had a woman Harry was unfamiliar with. One picture in particular caught his attention. It was of Sirius, the woman and a small child that couldn't be more than a year old. In the picture, Sirius looked happy, he kept spinning the woman around and tickling the child. The woman's eyes were bright with laughter, and even the baby seemed to be enjoying itself. With a frown Harry picked the picture up and tried to figure out who the woman and child were.
"I never got to tell you about Amelia, did I?" Harry jumped and turned around, it was Sirius, and behind him stood a sad looking Remus.
"No...you never mentioned her." Sirius sighed and sat down on the bed that stood in the corner of the room.
"She was amazing, beautiful, kind, smart, brave, cunning if she had to be...and powerful. My god was she strong." Harry frowned a little at the tone of Sirius' voice.
"But who was she?" The answer Sirius gave was one Harry never thought he'd hear.
"She was my wife." Remus laughed softly at Harry's wide-eyed expression.
"Y-you had a wife?! Then the baby in the picture is...."
"He's my son...he was born a few months before you. His name was Castor Sirius Black... Amelia loved the stars, and naming him following the Black tradition was something she wanted." Harry frowned and looked down at the picture.
"Can you tell me more about them? Where are they now? Voldemort didn't.....he didn't kill them, did he?" Sirius sighed and ran a hand through his still rather untamed hair.
"No, he didn't kill them. You got rid of that problem before she went missing....no one knows where she went though. After what happened with me and Peter, she tried to prove my innocence...she...she snuck into Azkaban one time to visit me. But that was the last time I ever saw her. I don't know if she's dead or alive now." Harry frowned, whoever this woman was, she clearly loved Sirius a lot in order to sneak into Azkaban.
"Didn't you ever wonder who Cotton Tail was?" Harry paused and frowned. The fifth name on the Marauder's Map sometimes showed itself and other times it just wasn't there, Harry had figured it was just another quirk of the magical map.
"She helped us make that map. She helped me with my transformations before anyone else besides the teachers knew. She was a wonderful friend." The more Harry heard about this Amelia, the more he wished he could meet her.
"She was also your godmother." Harry froze at this news, maybe if she had been alive she could have taken him instead of the Dursleys.
"Wait… She knew you were a werewolf? Her name is on the map...does that mean-"
"She was the fifth Marauder, She was a Hufflepuff, no one ever seemed to suspect her." Harry shook his head, a fifth Marauder, who happened to be his god mother, Sirius' wife, and the mother of Sirius' son? This woman seemed almost fake.
"What else can you tell me?" Sirius sighed deeply and shook his head as if to clear it from an errant thought.
"Sit down Harry...this story could take a while."
