'...sleep tight, baby.'
A kiss on the forehead again.
A hand leaving your head.
Warmth leaving you.
'wait', you mumbled.
'Don'tleaveme.', you whispered into the pillow sadly.
You felt his presence returning.
'What did you say?', he asked, honestly not able to understand what you were saying.
You were asleep, not able to consciously respond.
He thought you were just making sleepy noises, so he waited a minute to make sure that you were not having a nightmare and left when you did not say anything else anymore.
Heading to the living room, grabbing the blanket, he argued wether or not he wanted to watch something before going to sleep.
Boxing had been tiring and his muscles felt sore, but the warm shower relaxed his body and he was sure he would not have to deal with any pain the next day.
After laying down on the sofa he decided against watching something with a big yawn.
He crossed his arms in front of his chest and rolled over on the side, nuzzling his head into the pillow.
As much as he would like to just lay down next to you in a real bed, he knew it would make you feel completely uncomfortable.
Normally you enjoyed his presence, but the combination of the feeling of sickness and the unpredictability of his movements and noises next to you were simply too much.
The first time he was with you when you fell sick, he was unsure of everything.
On the one side he wanted to help you, on the other side he had no idea what you wanted.
Bringing something to drink and eat was the bare minimum he thought, so he told you to just tell him whenever you needed anything, but to his surprise you did not ask for anything once.
In the evening he saw you settling on the sofa with your blanket and pillow and he wondered if you wanted him to watch a movie with you or something.
However you just told him that you would be sleeping on the sofa that night, but without any question he declined that idea and brought you back to bed, telling you that if you wanted to sleep alone, that would be fine, but he would take the sofa then.
After you recovered and he asked you what he could do to make you feel better the next time you were sick, you explained that having a fever easily caused you to have a migraine as well and that you were sensitive to everything, light, touch, temperature, sounds...
The second time he was there when you were sick, he made sure to cover the windows and keep quiet.
He still brought you drinks and food.
One time when you were walking to the kitchen, he saw you losing your balance and immediately held you, so that you would not fall.
He felt bad when you flinched due to the touch of his arm around you, but when he stabilized you by holding your hips firmly only with his hands, you expressed that this did not even bother you.
The two of you figured out that as long as sensory stimuli were limited and predictable, you could handle it.
Nevertheless he made sure to reduce his affection towards you during the time you were sick and give you space, contrary to his desire when he was sick, always wishing you to be with him, holding his hand or playing with his hair.
Since you experienced senses so intensely, he thought that maybe if you could be surrounded by and focus on one or two impressions at the time that you enjoyed, you could even feel a bit of relief, so he observed what details in your daily life made you happy.
You were never an experimental person as far as he knew.
You liked to stick with the same things once you discover that you liked them.
So you have been using only vanilla scented lotion and shampoo on your boy and cotton scented candles and fabric spray in your room.
A good combination he thought, it just smelled like you.
In the middle of his thought process, slowly falling asleep, he heard your door being opened.
He immediately sat up, opening his eyes and trying to be able to see while being surrounded by darkness.
Intuitively, he grabbed his phone for having some light, wanting to go to the bedroom, just to check on you, but a figure was standing in front of him, rubbing their tired eyes.
Worry washed over him and he put his phone down to not blend you unnecessarily.
Before he could speak up and ask you what was going on, you asked:
'Would it be okay when you sleep with me this night?'
You sounded tired and realized that you were not fully awake, because your could not keep your eyes open for longer than three second.
Again you rubbed your eyes, trying to not fall asleep on the spot.
He took your hand and you dropped down next to him, leaning your head on his shoulder.
'Sure. How's your head?', he asked, trying to get an idea of your current state.
'It's fine.', you yawned and continued, processing to mumble:
'I still havekindofa...', you sighted,'fever, butpleaseletme staywithyou.'
'Of course, baby.', he said assuringly, wrapping his arm around you.
'Thank you.', you whispered, snuggling closer to him, searching for his warmth.
He looked at you fondly, silently holding you in the dark living room, holding you securely.
'Do you want to go back to bed?', he whispered after a while.
You just shook your head, tightening the grip on his shirt, not wanting to move.
'Okay. Then let's lay down here, hm?', he said quietly.
He carefully pushed you a bit away and put his hand on under your shoulder blade to secure you, while you laid down, half asleep and groaning due to the unwanted movements.
Lee Know sighed, thinking about how he should position himself.
It was not like there was much space, so he thought he could push you to the side, squeeze himself between you and the bottom of the sofa to pull you on top of him afterwards or just sleep on the edge with the danger of falling down.
Looking down on you, he could not stop himself from smiling.
The experience of you coming to him in the middle of the night while being unwell made him feel important and wanted and sometimes he could not believe that you, the person he wanted have around him always and forever, was so happy to have him by their side as well.
'Just come here.', you spoke, simultaneously opening your arms, signaling him to lay down on top of you.
He grabbed the hem of the blanket and tugging one side between you and the surface of the sofa, making sure that you will be surrounded by warmth once he laid down.
The rest of the blanket was pulled over his body, while he placed his head carefully next to yours, snuggles close to your neck.
'Is this okay?', he asked.
You did not response.
However you wrapped your arm around his upper body, letting your hand rest on his back, one of his leg was on yours and his left arm was loosely holding the fabric of the white shirt around your waist.
'Yes.', you finally whispered and gave him a kiss on his head, feeling his breathing tickling your neck when he let out a giggle.
Intuitively, you started to play with his hair and gave him a soft head massage, your eyes closed, enjoying him being so close to you.
*
He woke up with weight on top of him that was too heavy for just being a blanket.
Confused he opened his eyes, in the beginning not knowing why he was not in the bedroom.
He saw you laying on top of him, legs spread to each side of his body, arms next to his head and your head on his chest as if it was a pillow.
The blanket was pushed down on the floor and Lee Know quickly pulled it back up when he realized you were not protected from the cold air and only wearing underwear and a shirt.
Quickly putting the fuzzy blanket around you, he manages to sit up, holding you and the blanket, turning to the side to lean against the back of the sofa, just as he did when you came to him this night.
He moved slowly, calculating each move to not make you lose balance and fall off him nor waking you up abruptly.
Once succeeded, he exhaled in relief and exhaustion.
Maybe the warm shower after the training did not help completely to relax his muscles since he felt some soreness now.
As much as he liked to do it, he could not carry you to your bed without waking you up, so he placed his hand on your cheek and rubbed his thumb on your skin softly.
When he saw your eyes fluttering, without thinking he placed a kiss on your temple, making you feel his warm lips on your skin the first thing in the morning.
He saw your lips curl up in a smile.
'Let's go to bed and cuddle, hm?', he said looking down, avoiding to talk too close to your ear, because he expected that you were still sensitive to especially sounds.
You may be free from the strong headache by now, but you were not completely fit again either.
You started to shift your weight to get off of his lap, but he put his arms around you firmly, preventing you from standing up.
He wanted to carry you, now that you were awake it would be much easier and he did not want you to lose the feeling of sleepiness, so that you could just go back to dreamland and rest, once you were in bed again.
'Lee Know, no.', he heard you saying strictly, feeling your hands on his shoulders, pushing you away from him.
He loosened the grip around you and let you stand up, pressing his lips together to not let out an annoyed sigh.
The blanket was hanging on your shoulders and you pulled it around you, freezing from the loss of Lee Know's warmth.
You held out your hand to help him standing up and he took it, stood up and led you to the bedroom.
You both crawled under the thick cozy blankets and the second your head hit the pillow, you felt instantly tired again.
You reached for Lee Know and let your hand wander from his shoulder to his hand, while he was laying on his side, facing you with his eyes closed.
The touch of your hand on his made him instinctively take a hold on you.
'Thank you.', you whispered sleepily.
'You always take good care of me.', you continued.
He crawled closer to you and pulled you in his embrace.
'Just because you look horrible when being sick.', he responded.
'What do you mean? I'm hot.', you exclaimed.
He giggled:
'Repeating this joke doesn't make it true.'
You squeezed his hand, wanting go bicker back, but you could not think of a good comeback.
'Just get well fast.', he reminded you.
'Are you missing my cuddles already or what?', you asked with a smile, convinced that he did.
He tried to not be too obvious about how much he enjoyed your touch, not that he was clingy, but he felt good with you and he wanted to make sure that you did too.
'Maybe.', he mumbled.
After some minutes of silence and the feeling of your hand in his hair, playing with it, causing him to feel completely relaxed, he realized how much he felt at ease when your were by his side.
The smell of your body still gave of a whiff of the vanilla lotion and the fabric under your heads smelled like the cotton spray.
With your warmth, the steady play with his hair between your fingers that caused a soft tickle and the embrace of the smell like home and peace, he fell asleep.
