Jack is Leah’s best friend.
Or should I say, was.

Their friendship was built up at the start of high school, but his feelings for her was developed 3 years after that.
Beforehand, their friendship was pure and without even one bit of thinking to have the kind of relationship apart from the ones that they already have.
It was a mystery, I say.
Well, the only clue of solving this mystery will probably be Jack’s underdeveloped nerves for a love interest.
Because Leah already has a crush.
Yea, it is like all the classic stories about the love triangle, but this time in real life.
Her crush is actually a pretty nice guy. He’s quiet, he treats her nicely, but Mr J still wants to have a try.

But why Leah?
Good question.
She is adventurous, with a great and intelligent mind, also treat others nicely.
It’s just how she looks at him that made him fall, deep deep into her eyes behind that pair of glasses.
It’s just how she has that cute kind of accent every time when she speak. That accent from the country that she was born in.
It’s just how attractive she looks when she is listening to his explanation of a project design, concentrating fully on the laptop in front of them.
And when he was caught staring at her, that confused look she had on her face.
Made him sink inside the feelings planted in the males heart, silently and secretly.
She’s such a great young woman, so why not?

The change of the chemistry between the two was quite obvious for everyone who knows them (not even ‘knows them well’!).
Well, in fact, the only one in the whole world who hadn’t found out about this relationship was Leah.
It started with a slight change of the attitude the Jack put towards Leah.
He started to give her a lolly when she is down, a coat when she is cold, or a pat on the head when saying goodbye.
Leah was always translating his actions as ‘a normal way to treat friend’.
She was still thinking of ‘him’.
He thought.
Jack does not want to keep quiet of his feelings anymore, so just before Leah was going to confess to her crush, he decided to confess to her.

It was just another normal day. What made it not that normal was the things that people did.
Like the confession.
Jack was fully prepared for the confession. However, when he stood in front of Leah, his ready-to-be-former best friend, the root of his ears still blushed like crazy.
“I like you.”
He said.
She was surprised.
“I…will think about it, ok? And give you the answer later?”
She answered, a bit of red ness climbed up her face.
“…ok.”
He smiled weakly.

Jack was filled with the thought that he made a mess during the confession.
I surely did something wrong, didn’t I? Was she still thinking of her crush?? Oh god I do not know!
He was stressed, and currently banging his head onto his clenched-up fist.
Until a ‘ding’ sound notified his ears.
A notification from his phone.
Excited to see a message from Leah, Jack opened his phone.
‘YouTuber Nut Fisher has updated a video - Only using Salted Fish to complete Banana sea! w/Jay’
His excitement level went down so quickly that it can be seen with bare eyes.
Jack banged his whole face onto his white wooden tabletop in deep frustration.
Suddenly, another ‘ding’ came into his ears.
“Nope I am not trusting you again, you stupid phone.” Jack, said in an emotionless tone.
However, he could not resist the tempting call of the notification.
He unlocked the phone.
“I like you too :)”
He could imagine his girl saying that to him, smiling, full of energy.
