Akai hurriedly brought Furuya back to PSB headquarters. His colleague was force-fed with an APTX 4869 modified version by Gin. Gin had almost brought Bourbon with him to be used as a hostage to escape from the PSB and FBI pursuit, but was thwarted by Akai and one of the PSB snipers by firing his hands and legs, without injuring Furuya.
Akai and PSB will not be that panicked if Furuya is only swallowing the old version of APTX 4869, but Gin himself said that the version that was force-fed to Furuya was a modified version. It’s no longer a small possibility that the drug now does function like its original expectations, killing someone without a trace.
They were lucky Gin was the last codenamed member of the organization that they needed to catch, so that Akai could immediately bring Furuya to go to be examined. Arriving at PSB headquarters, Haibara was waiting and immediately worked to check Furuya as soon as he put his colleague's body on the mattress available in the PSB lab.

Bourbon's sharp gaze, and also a cheerful Amuro Toru look, changed with a fearful and curious look.
"Furuya-san, do you remember what happened to you?" Haibara decided to ask first, but the 12 year old child in front was shaking her head.
"How do you know my name?" Furuya frowned, looking ready to run away when he decided that the danger had approached him.
"Huh? Furuya-kun doesn't remember us?" Akai bends down in front of Furuya.

But Furuya stares at him even when Taka'aki did not talk to him anymore, and when Takai'aki asked, is there something wrong, Furuya's answer made him smile.
"You look like my friend, your name is also the same, Morofushi. Are you Taka'aki-san who he often talked about?" Furuya tilted his head.

"Eung! Hiro is my best friend! After Elena-san left, he always treated my wounds." Furuya smiled broadly, an innocent smile without hypocrisy that had never been shown. Kazami was stunned, it looks like their decision to let Furuya-san remember everything himself was better than he was forced to remember it.

"... Alright ..." Akai gave up, maybe Haibara was right, at least he could make a good impression on him this time.
After Rei is certainly healthy and will not experience complications from APTX 4869, the Kudo family prepares a room for Rei. The room was on the 1st floor so it was easier for him to go to the kitchen, and was near the bathroom and Akai's room. They also prepared various games that sharpen the brain, such as puzzles, riddles, and several books. Shinichi, who has returned to his original body, will return to his house, so he can often invite Rei to come out to play so that his body remains healthy.
