the end, losers

Summary:

A very short fix-it fic for the finale

Notes:

This fic is wicked short because I'm doing exactly what everyone else is doing n ignoring the ending altogether. They live n are happy <3

Work Text:

Eve found herself lost, mentally and physically. When Villanelle pushed both of them into the waters, Eve wasn't fast enough to prepare herself, especially for the exploding pain in her shoulder. She's been shot, she knows it. But where was Villanelle?

With blurry vision, she sees her and with a rush of urgency, starts swimming to her. More gunshots fly through the water. One hits Villanelle and Eve is picking up her pace.

She grabs Villanelle and moves away as another shot flies through, missing Villanelle's back. Eve immediately wants to go to surface but she already knows whoever is out there will shoot them both dead.

She looks at Villanelle who is half conscious but eyes locked onto Eve's. Eve's hold on her tightens and she starts kicking, she's not that strong but for Villanelle, she'll try her best.

No more shots were fired and Eve goes to surface, now close to a wall, she leans up, pulling Villanelle with her.

Villanelle is too out of it so Eve kisses her, gives her oxygen which seems to wake her up cause once Eve pulls back, Villanelle is looking at her with wide eyes.

"I..," she laughs, "I think am dying."

"Shut up, don't say that," Eve looks around at the docks. Everything was quiet, looked the same as before. But then she spots her. Carolyn.

She's not looking at them, she's actually turning away and leaving to Eve's relief. But she wasn't fully relieved yet cause she still had Villanelle to worry about and also herself at some point, she did get shot too.

Eve starts moving again, "Can you kick a little?" Villanelle looks at her then does her best to swim while Eve supports her as best as she can.

They make it to land and both drag themselves onto shore. With their backs to the ground, they breathe. Eve looks to Villanelle then sits up and checks out the wound on her chest. It was bleeding profusely and so was the other shot that hit her arm.

Eve didn't know how to deal with this, they only had one option here. She holds Villanelle's hand, and when Villanelle looks to her, Eve tells her, "Hey, I'm going to be by your side the whole time."

"For what?"

Eve gives her a smile before yelling, "HELP! HELP! THERE'S BEEN A SHOOTING!"

Villanelle hated hospitals. She hated the jello, she hated the IVs in her arms and she hated having to use the restroom the most. But what she didn't hate was Eve being there. Eve was in the chair by Villanelle's hospital bed, she had been stitched up already for her gunshot wound.

"They'll come for us," Villanelle tells her as she picks up her jello square and squishes it.

"I know that," Eve is flicking through channels on the TV, "So we'll just be other people."

"What do you mean?"

Eve looks at her with a smirk, "I think it's time we roleplay."

Villanelle grins at that.

<>

"Wow, you brought back our camper! Look, honey, isn't that nice?"

Villanelle and Eve both smile.

<>

"This is a nice place," Eve drinks from her coffee mug, previously owned.

"Real nice," Villanelle enjoys the view of the middle of nowhere they found themselves in and she also enjoys the view of Eve too. But even better, Villanelle grabs Eve which makes Eve drop her mug and break. She's laughing, "Villanelle, my coffee!"

Villanelle picks her up and brings her into their new home for now, where she'll have a better view of Eve in bed. She shuts the front door behind them.
