Work Text:

The day Markus fell into Jericho, was also the day Simon fell in love.

The way Markus' mismatched eyes would leave him in a trance, the hope that was inlaid within them. It brought light to Simon's life. If it were up to him, Simon would no doubt give up his life in order to let Markus live a thousand times over. His heart would stay loyal to Markus' side, no matter what came between them.
The spark that would ignite his circuits into overdrive, the sensation that would make his thirium pump pulse at twice the normal speed. There was just something buried deep within those eyes that drove Simon on, lingering close as his friend. He knew the way North would cling to Markus. It bothered him, yet, he didn't dare say a word. Yet, it seemed to change.

Simon would never forget the warm embrace that Markus tugged him into, or the feeling of his delicate fingers intertwined with his before the synthetic skin would pull away to reveal the metal beneath. A careful moment, as if time had simply frozen. The ease he felt, knowing the one he truly loved was close to him. No matter the distance, his love would never falter. Never deteriorate.

The way Markus' gentle smile invited him to dance that night. Such a gentle gaze couldn't be denied, Simon had concluded. It was slow, and silent in the cold, open night. As they danced upon the surface of Jericho's ship. With interlocked gazes, they would spin as if the rusted wreckage were a spinning ballroom. The way Markus' movements were so in sync with Simon's. His pump would only pulse faster, a blue hue spreading over his pale complexion.

Perchance it was that his feelings would forever be buried. Erosion would wreck his circuits and tear him apart. The thought that his memories and adoration for Jericho's beloved leader would gradually decay and become one with the earth over time. No matter what, his heart was as loyal as could be. It didn't matter what happened, as long as he was by Markus' side, it didn't matter. His heart would beat for him as long as he lived.

Notes:

The interactions between these two are some of the sweetest things. How sweet Simon acts around Markus. The way he looks at him, and how much he sacrifices himself to save Markus. Nothing speaks true love more than that.
