Work Text:
Jisung didn't really have crushes, he wasn't big on all that love stuff.
At least that's what he told everyone, because admitting that you have had a crush on your best friend for 3 years is a bit embarrassing.
He and Jeongin have been best friends since middle school. They were the double trouble duo, they have been to so many detentions together, Jisung has lost count. Their parents actually did try to separate them, but it didn't quite work, they always found a way to communicate and be together, soon enough their parents gave up and decided to let the two boys be.
So really, Jisung developing the crush wasn't that surprising, but Jisung being Jisung he did what he did the best with his feelings, burry deep down and forget.
But when you do that with really anything, not only feelings, it tends to pile up and soon enough, you don't have enough room for them anymore and they burst out all at once.
To Jisung it happened when he was on a video call with Jeongin. Jeongin had just dyed his hair blue and was showing it to Jisung. He looked so cute and happy with the new hair colour, Jisung felt all warm and giddy just looking at the other and that's when the realisation came to him.
He had to turn off the video and audio because of how overwhelmed he felt. As he felt his heart clench and his eyes get teary, he ended the call, texting Jeongin a quick apology and something about his mom needing his help.
That evening he spent looking at his ceiling figuring out his feelings.
And he came to a dreadful conclusion that he was head over heels for Jeongin.
Since then he has not shown his crush to Jeongin. Well he tried to, but by the words of Hyunjin, he was painfully obvious. Jeongin seemed to have no idea though.
But having a crush on someone for three years is a long time and, eventually, Jisung got tired of his feelings, so he decided to confess.
The problem was, he had no idea how.
It had to be creative so if he does get rejected he at least did it with grace.

"Hyunjin! What do you think is Jeongin's favourite thing about me?" Jisung asked when he slid in a seat next to Hyunjin, they had a class together that day.
"When you're not around," he responded and that earned him a slap on his shoulder.
"I need a serious answer Hyunjin," Jisung rolled his eyes.
"Then you're asking the wrong person, the only one who can give you the answer to this question is Jeongin," Hyunjin said as he looked at Jisung with a knowing look.
"Ugh, I hate how you're right "
"Why did you ask anyways?"
"I'm trying to think of the best way to confess," as the words left Jisung, Hyunjin audibly gasped and widened his eyes.
"No way!"
"Don't be so dramatic!"
"Dude! You've been refusing to confess for ages! Of course I'll be surprised, no one could have expected this plot twist!"
"Well I got tired of holding my feelings in so help me think of a way to confess!"
"I can't help you with that, it must come from you, Jeongin will know it's not your idea, he knows you too well, and also, it just seems right for you to do it the way you think is right," said the hopeless romantic Hyunjin.
"But I need ideas!" Jisung said desperately.
"Then think of them! I can help with execution, but the idea has to be yours."
Jisung was about to disagree, but their lecturer came and started their lesson.
Hyunjin was Jisung's only hope. He was another close friend of Jisungs, they met a bit after Jisung met Jeongin. Hyunjin was more of a teacher's pet than a trouble maker so he was often there to save the other two asses. He always acted annoyed when the duo got in trouble, but quietly always admired how free and careless they were and the two were always there to help Hyunjin stop caring and stressing so much about exceeding his parents unrealistic expectations, it was a healthy friendship which did and did not make sense at the same time.
Hyunjin was also the most romantic guy Jisung knew, so he was really hoping he would help him with the ideas.
But because he didn't, Jisung had to take matters into his own hands.
.
.
.
"Jeongin, what do you like about me the most?" Jisung took his opportunity when the two of them were sitting on the swings, the same ones they were swinging on when they first met.
"What's with the question so suddenly?" Jeongin asked with a laugh.
"Just wondering, we've known each other for so long, yet you still haven't gotten bored of me, so, what's making you stay with me?" Jisung asked, he didn't expect for it to get so deep, but he would be lying if he said he never thought about it.
Jeongin also seemed to not expect the seriousness of the question as it took a bit of time for him to answer.
"I mean, I like everything about you, but if you're asking me what I like about you the most, it's how you always know how to make me laugh, I like how silly you can be, takes me away from the serious world full of worries we live in."
Those words were circling around Jisung's head for weeks. He knew the confession had to be fun, it had to be marvelous, it had to be Jisung. He actually made a list of ideas.
- Confessing at amusement park
- Confessing at the zoo while narrating everything animals do and when some animals are cuddling I say some shit like "they are so in love, just like I am in love with Yang Jeongin and wish nothing more than to be in his arms" very romantic I think
- Confessing while Hyunjin is pouring water on me to portray the cheesy scenes in rom coms
- Jackson way of confessing
He did have only four ideas, but the fact that he had more than one was already astonishing, he never knew he would be so dedicated to someone. After completing his list he ran to the library, already knowing where to find Hyunjin.
When he arrived at the library he saw a guy sitting next to Hyunjin and the two of them discussing something. But Jisung couldn't wait so he ran to the table and slapped the paper on the table, startling the two.
"Oh god Jisung, you're in the library!" Hyunjin whisper yelled at him.
"I don't care! I have a very important thing!"
"I do! I don't want to get kicked out!"
"You probably won't! And I really need your help. I made a list of ways to confess and I need to choose the best one." Jisung said with pleading eyes.
"You made a list?" Hyunjin asked, stunned.
"Indeed I did." Jisung replied with a proud look.
Hyunjin took the paper and started reading it, the other guy also took a look at the list curiously.
"Amusement park is cute, but a lot of couples get engaged there, knowing you, you'd want it to be original."
"Yeah you're right," Jisung agreed, feeling a bit disappointed, but he still had hope for the next ideas.
"Wait, the zoo one is really cute!" Hyunjin said, almost squealing.
"But what if the animals are fucking?" Asked the guy beside Hyunjin.
"Then I say that I wish to fuck him just as hard-"
"NO!" Hyunjin yelled requiring murderous stares from the users of library. He cleared his throat before continuing.
"Absolutely fucking not Jisung, you're disgusting, this idea is off the list!" He said as he crossed out the idea.
"At least he's being honest," said the guy next to Hyunjin.
"Exactly! Thank you…"
"Minho."
"Minho!"
"See, even your friend gets it!"
"Still no."
"Hm I like the third idea," Hyunjin added after reading the third point of Jisung's list.
"What was it?"
"Me pouring water on you."
"Of course you do." Jisung rolled his eyes, how did he even come to such an idea?
"Where would you do it? It's winter outside and if you get caught doing it in the halls of uni you'll be sentenced to clean the halls till the end of semester," Minho asked.
"I don't like the idea anymore," Hyunjin said, shivering at the thought of cleaning the halls with Jisung for a whole semester.
"Alright, let's just move on to the next one." To be very honest, Jisung didn't mind doing that, he didn't mind doing anything as long as he could make Jeongin happy, but he guesses that it's not the best way to confess.
"What is 'Jackson's way of confessing'?" Hyunjin curiously but cautiously asked, you never know what Jisung could come up with. Minho also seemed to not understand.
"So, in sex education, there's a scene where Jackson asks for everyone's attention in the cafeteria where he confesses to Maevis by singing on a table." Jisung explains to the two. He and Jeongin recently watched it together and Jeongin enjoyed it a lot.
"Okay so, the idea isn't bad, but you shouldn't do it in public, I don't think Jeongin would like that, but you could definitely sing to him, he is always complimenting your voice!" Hyunjin says to him after a bit of thought
"Serenading is kind of boring though," says Minho, not really agreeing with Hyunjin.
It's time for Jisung to be in thought. Minho is right, serenading is boring, it's very common and also awkward, but Hyunjin also is right, Jeongin does love Jisung's voice. He sat there in silence for three minutes and Hyunjin was starting to get concerned when Jisung finally spoke up.
"Serenading is boring, yes, and it's not me at all, but performing a pop song about love is not. I'll make a whole performance where I'm singing, dancing, doing facial expressions and so on! I'll make it fun."
"That's a surprisingly good idea…" Hyunjin says a bit surprised.
"Agreed, you should do that," Minho said with a nod.
"I'll need back up dancers though, you know, to make the performance whole," Jisung said looking at Hyunjin. Hyunjin was a part of a dance team and, as he said himself, he would help with execution.
"I did promise to help you, didn't I?" He said with a sigh and Jisung's eyes shined brightly.
"Can you ask one of your dance crew friends to join too?" Jisung asked hopefully, one dancer was not enough, he needed at least two.
"Well Minho hyung here is a part of the dance crew," Hyunjin carefully looked at the boy sitting next to him, the other already giving him a stern look.
Suddenly, it clicked to Jisung. He had already heard about Minho before. Hyunjin has talked about how talented Minho was, but also how scared he was of him, that he carried this aura around him that made Hyunjin's skin to cover in goosebumps.
"So you're that Minho!" Jisung said loudly, their table once again getting stares.
"You don't seem that scary though." Minho smirked and looked at Hyunjin whose cheeks were starting to warm up.
"Well, maybe that's because I haven't pinned you to a wall," Minho said to Jisung, but his gaze never left Hyunjin.
"ALRIGHT! I'm happy we could help you, but we really need to get back to our work," Hyunjin hurriedly said and grabbed a confused wide eyed Jisung's hand to get him out of his seat.
"But we need to discuss everything about the performance," he said as he was dragged out of the library.
"We'll discuss it when you think of a song to perform."
"But-" Jisung started to say but the library door was closed right in front of him.

"Why haven't you told your best friends about us yet?" Asked Minho as Hyunjin returned to their table. A sigh left Hyunjin before he started explaining himself.
"They're…overprotective, you see, in middle school they were pretty much my only friends because the others would use me for homework, I got hurt a lot and since then they have always been a bit rough to my boyfriends, I'd like them to get to know you as a person first and only then as my boyfriend…" Hyunjin said, avoiding Minho's eyes, but because of that he didn't see the soft smile Minho had.
"Alright then, we'll just be very good friends in front of them."
Hyunjin looked up at his boyfriend in surprise.
"You're…okay with it?"
"Mhm, why wouldn't I be? You have your reasons and I respect that," Minho said, putting his hand on Hyunjin's thigh in a comforting way.
"Thank you," Hyunjin said softly before pecking Minho's lips.

After the talk with Hyunjin and Minho Jisung's list looked a bit differently.
- Confessing at amusement park BORING
-
Confessing at the zoo while narrating everything animals do and when some animals are cuddling I say some shit like "they are so in love, just like I am in love with Yang Jeongin and wish nothing more than to be in his arms" very romantic I thinkABSOLUTELY NOT - Confessing while Hyunjin is pouring water on me to portray the cheesy scenes in rom coms Nope
- Jackson way of confessing performing a pop love song
Now he just had to choose a song, which was even harder. He also made a list of all the love songs he could think of, but none of them really worked out the way Jisung wanted to. The best one from them was "Don't Run Away" by Let it Shine. Hyunjin was, of course, against it. So he kept searching for the perfect one.
And he did find it.

"Should we listen to music?" Jeongin suggested. Jisung and Jeongin were laying on Jeongin's bed doing nothing, just enjoying each other's company.
"Sure," Jisung replied and immediately regretted it as Jeongin was lying on Jisung’s chest and had to get up to get his phone.
"What do you want?" Jeongin asked, Jisung shrugged.
"I'm fine with anything," he replied and a mischievous glint appeared in Jeongin's eyes.
"If you say so," Jeongin said and typed something on his phone. Soon enough "...Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears started playing. Jisung quickly jumped out of the bed.
"Oh baby, baby how was I supposed to know that something wasn't right here?" Jisung started singing and Jeongin giggled. Jisung knew all of the lyrics to any Britney's song so he pretty much performed the song to Jeongin with all of the ad libs and dance moves he could remember. Jeongin seemed to really enjoy the show. He hit all the high notes and added some of his own moves. During the whole song his eyes were on Jeongin, secretly trying to give him a sign.
"You knew what you were doing when you put on Britney Spears, you love my voice so much huh?" Jisung said with a smirk, but Jeongin just rolled his eyes while putting on the next song, not allowing Jisung to rest. They spent the rest of the evening dancing and singing to Britney.
.
.
.
"I KNOW!" Jisung yelled as he hurried to Hyunjin who was once again with Minho in a park. Jisung was glad Minho was there so they could plan the performance together.
"That is indeed very surprising," Hyunjin deadpanned as Jisung reached them.
"Shut up, jerk, this is very important."
"What is it?"
"I chose a song, "You Drive Me Crazy" by Britney Spears, that's the one, no more debating."
"Oh, alright then, good for us, it already has choreography," Hyunjin said and looked at Minho.
"Great! Now we need a place, costumes, and decorations."
"You're lucky, we already thought of the place, we can do it in our dance studio, on Friday after our practice no one goes there, we can also practice there," Minho said and that surprised Jisung, he didn't expect Minho to actually try to help, just because they were complete strangers. Maybe he and Hyunjin were good friends (real good friends indeed Jisung).
"Oh thank you! I think for the fits I wear a sparkly top and low waisted pants, like in the music video and for you guys, you can wear some graphic tees and baggy pants? And about decorations, could we put some disco lights?"
"You really thought this through didn't you?" Hyunjin asked, astonished.
"Well, it's for Jeongin, I want it to be enjoyable," Jisung said, scratching the back of his head in embarrassment.
"You're such a cutie Sungie, don't worry, he'll love it, and yes, we will dress like that and there are disco lights." Hyunjin said with a big smile as he ruffled Jisung's hair. Jisung snatched his hand away though, trying to save his hair from a complete disaster.
"We'll learn the dance first and when we're done we'll teach you, you'll have to free your friday evenings though," Minho said.
"Will do! Thank you guys so much!" Jisung said with a huge smile.

It took them a month to get the performance together, but Jisung's dedication never ran low. He had to make it perfect.
During the practices he got to know Minho more and he seemed like a nice guy, a bit cold at first and he had his own interesting way with words, but he grew to like the guy. He could understand why Hyunjin spent so much time with him.
Talking about Hyunjin and Minho. They seemed suspiciously close, it was weird how Hyunjin didn't introduce them before, but Jisung chose not to dwell too much on it. After all, he knew Hyunjin would have his own reasons for that.
But the day finally came, after all the practices Jisung was ready to do that. He already told Jeongin to meet him and Hyunjin in the dance studio to have a sleepover together later.
"Why can't we go to the studio together?" Jeongin had asked puzzled, but Jisung already had an answer for that.
"I have to meet Chan at the studio, we have to complete the song we're working on."
And there he was standing in the middle of the studio waiting for Jeongin to arrive. Minho and Hyunjin standing by each of his side ready to perform. The disco lights were already turned on, making Jisung's top sparkle. They didn't have to wait long, they soon heard a click and door opening revealing Jeongin.
"Uh, hey?" He was confused about the scene in front of him, but didn't get an answer, instead music Minho turned on by the speaker console started playing and the console was quickly tossed away so Minho could freely dance.
And the performance could start. It was a much upgraded version of what Jeongin has seen Jisung do. Jisung seemed to have practiced singing it, his voice sounded amazing, all of the notes were hit perfectly, his ad libs livened the song up and the dance moves were unforgettable.
Jeongin was truly in shock while watching the performance. Jisung included Jeongin into the performance by holding his hand occasionally, by caressing his cheek and simply never looking away from him. Jisung didn't know exactly how but he felt very confident during the performance.
"Baby, thinking of you keeps me up all night," Jisung sang the last lines. After completing the song he had to take a moment to breathe before he could talk. He also could hear Hyunjin and Minho breathing heavily.
"So, um, I don't know if you got it, but this is my confession, I am very much in love with you," Jisung spluttered. Jeongin looked at him fondly before rushing towards him and securing Jisung's lips.
Jisung was startled but soon put his arms around Jeongin's neck deepening the kiss. He could hear Hyunjin and Minho escaping the room.
"You're such a dork, I love you too, very much," Jeongin announced after they parted to catch their breath.
Even after years of dating, Jisung never stops bragging about how he had the best confession ever and each time he does so, Jeongin rolls his eyes. But there's this smile so fond and so full of love, it never fails to show the true feelings Jeongin has.
