Prologue
Universe H is a world with no countries; only kingdoms ruled by humans. The more power a kingdom has, the greater chances for that kingdom to take over another. Year by year, crime rates kept increasing dramatically and the wars between kingdoms were never-ending. Humans live in fear and many die every day. There were two universes that have been keeping an eye on Universe H. The angel universe and devil universe.
Wanting to repair universe H, both the Angel Lord and Devil Emperor decided to open their gates to universe H. Both angels and devils had very different views on how they wanted to repair universe H. The angels wanted to heal the humans’ minds, while the devils wanted to torture and possibly kill them. This caused The Great Angel and Devil War. The battle ended when the Angel Lord and Devil Emperor both killed each other at the same time. With the loss of their leaders, the remaining angels and devils eventually came into an agreement with each other. Each kingdom will be governed by either angels or devils. Killing humans and each other is forbidden. In the now universe K, humans, angels and devils live amongst one another.
“Please don’t do this,” Chaein struggles under her breath as the dark energy comes closer to her neck.
“I’m sorry, but I have no other choice…” Goeun continues to exert more dark energy from her hand, a tear falls down from her cheek.
56 years ago.
Chaein is a human currently studying her degree in music at university. She lives in an angel governed kingdom. The angels that are responsible for watching over society are the angel guardians. Criminals here are sent to rehabilitation where they are put through the angel guardians’ purification spell to cleanse their minds and souls. Angels have a bright white aura radiating from them which can only be seen by angels and devils. Humans are unable to see it. When angels turn into combat mode, their glowing feathered bird-like wings appear.
The professors adore Chaein because of her musical talents and sweet personality. Unfortunately, many in society are intimidated by her due to her intense eyes and cold look. Chaein always wore black clothing and is a big fan of horror and dark themes. Her only friends are Yuki and Ireh, who share the same interests as her.
“Why is it so hard to become friends with an angel or devil?” Chaein asks herself while reading a book on the history of angels and devils in the library.
“We’re probably too normal for them,” Yuki chuckles.
“Most of them haven’t seen what amazing dance moves a human can do,” Ireh says in a witty tone.
I really want to see what it is like to be a devil. Chaein thought to herself.
“See you guys tomorrow,” Chaein waves and leaves the library.
Chaein lived by herself in a small apartment. Her parents passed away during the The Great Angel and Devil War when she was only 1 year old. Her grandfather and grandmother raised her and she discovered her interest in music through her grandfather. Her most cherished item is her grandfather’s guitar.
Near the kingdom Chaein lives in is a devil governed kingdom. Society in devil governed kingdoms are still peaceful like angel governed kingdoms. The devils that are responsible for watching over society are the devil wardens. But the difference here is that criminals are tortured by devil wardens and are set free when they have learned their lesson. Devils emit dark aura, similar to angels with their light aura. When devils turn into combat mode, their eyes become deeper and darker.
The Devil Emperor’s second daughter, Goeun, lives in this kingdom. Devils often fight each other in secret to climb up the power ranking. Goeun’s older sister is currently the successor of the Devil Emperor, the Devil Empress, and is the most powerful devil. Goeun’s father had always trained her sister more because she was to be successor and not Goeun. Full of jealousy since childhood, Goeun trains herself by secretly learning spells from her father’s spellbook and killing the devils she meets every day with the thought of being powerful enough to kill her sister one day.
The day eventually came. Goeun traps her sister in a huge sphere of dark energy, suffocating the current Devil Empress. The Devil Empress screeches and disintegrates into fine black dust. Goeun picks up the fallen crown and puts it on her head. The devils that protected the Devil Empress watched in fear and their bodies forced themselves to bow down to Goeun, the new Devil Empress. She smiles sinisterly.
