Work Text:
Then Eve watched Villanelle's body sink to the depth of the water. Eve came to the surface. Eve screamed. Eve began to cry. Eve tried to swim. Until the impossible to see, had happened. Villanelle had emerged from the depth of the water, still wounded, apparently the second shot had landed somewhere in her back and the third had only grazed her. Eve was surprised.
-I thought you were dead -Eve wanted to hug her, but she knew she couldn't.
-It’ll take more than that to kill me... -Villanelle could barely speak.
They were both still floating and Eve was trying to get Villanelle to hold on because a yacht was approaching them. Neither of them knew where it had come from, but they couldn't be more grateful.
-What just happened to you? -asked a man no older than forty- gimme your hand.
Eve didn't know how to get Villanelle on that yacht.
-Shit -the man jumped into the sea to help Eve.
-Thank you very much -was all Eve could say as she pulled Villanelle up.
-I hope your friend can hold on.
Villanelle was unconscious but her vital signs were still present. All the way to the shore, Eve did not leave her beloved for a single second. She talked to him that after this they would both go to a place where no one would know them. That man just watched the scene with a lot of questions, he never thought that after a bad night he was going to help two complete strangers and even more when he was thinking of committing suicide. The three guys arrived at the shore and the man automatically said: "my van is this way, give me a minute".
And it was there from a distance that Eve could see Carolyn. Eve swore and swore that once Villanelle was well, she would kill her with her bare hands. She didn't care about prison, she didn't care that she was Kenny's mom. Eve would kill her. Eve was so deep in thought that she didn't notice that the man was already with her. And that they were both already loading Villanelle into the van. The nearest hospital was about fifteen minutes away, but that day it was only five. Villanelle went into the emergency room, still showing signs of life. Eve was also treated and although she was advised to rest, she didn't listen, she was still waiting for some news from Villanelle.
-It's kinda funny to know that I was about to commit suicide and now she is fighting -the man took the opportunity to give Eve a coffee.
-It's funny to know that I never thought I'd love a murderer so much.
Four more hours passed before Eve was finally approached by a nurse. The only thing Eve felt was relief. Villanelle was stable. Told that she could not pass yet, Eve didn't care and went to Villanelle. She was peacefully asleep, her beautiful features were still there, her body was still there, she was still there. Eve approached Villanelle and took her hand.
-I hope you don't hate me for bringing you to a hospital.
Eve brought a chair and sat down next to villanelle, Eve would be there until she woke up. She didn't care about anything else. An hour later our beloved assassin's eyes were open.
-Eve? -Villanelle was trying to sit up.
It wasn't a minute before Eve woke up and saw Villanelle.
-You're awake. Thank goodness...
-I'm sorry for scaring you.
-I'm sorry, babe. I'm sorry for bringing you here.
-Lie down with me, I'll give you some space.
Eve didn't think twice, she lay down next to Villanelle.
-Once we get out, do you think we can go far away? -Villanelle looked tenderly into Eve's eyes.
-We will, but first I have to kill Carolyn.
