So this first part was kind of a reworking of the original fic
They're in the break between the two episodes filming that day, but something doesn't feel right. Rose goes to find Ed as soon as she's wolfed down her sandwich.
She knows Ed is missing her too. When she knocks on his dressing room door, it feels weird not to have two voices calling back at her.
"Hey" she greets him with a kiss, walking in and immediately going for the sofa. She chuckles as she thinks about how normally she'd either have to tip Katy off or literally pick up the other woman and place her back in her arms once she was laying down. Ed sits at the other end of the sofa to her head and flings up her legs, placing them down on his lap. She rolls her eyes at him, but any playful distain is pretty much immediately absolved when he turns his phone screen towards her.
Rose's face lights up instantly at the sight of Katy. Ed knows that Rose hadn't wanted to leave their girlfriend's side but the woman had insisted they should both go and film the show. After all, she'd given production enough of a headache having to find a replacement for her.
“Hi baby” Rose says softly and with relief evident in her voice. Katy still looks poorly which makes her heart ache but she's looking much brighter than when they'd had to rush her to A&E in the night. That had been one of the scariest moments of her life. They just didn’t know what was happening, Rose had been desperately trying to keep Katy calm, she lay the girl across her lap and stroked her hair to try soothe her but the pain was just so bad. They had originally said they would get an emergency doctors appointment for first thing in the morning but the pain steadily only got worse, they worried that it could be appendicitis so rushed her to hospital. Thankfully it wasn’t, it turned out she was having some issues with her gallbladder. Still of course that wasn’t a good thing but it was less scary. She needed emergency surgery which had put her two partners on edge but the doctors had reassured them that it was only a small procedure with a pretty short recovery time.
"Hey, the doctor said I might be out by tonight. My stitches are healing up though coming round from the anaesthetic and being weaned off the morphine made me feel like shit” Katy tells Rose, who smiles a little at their girlfriends blunt nature.
“Well I know we’ll both be glad to see you” Rose tells her, letting Ed lean back into frame she smiles when Katy asks him to pass on a kiss from her and blows one back into the camera afterwards “We miss you so much. It’s just not the same”
“I’ll be back soon, I promise”
“Text me and if you are out tonight we’ll come pick you up straight after filming” Ed promises, it makes both girls smile.
"See I told you she was fine" Ed gives Rose a look after Katy hangs up, of course he had also been worried about their girlfriend but had busied himself with the practical things they could do to help. Rose tended to wear her heart on her sleeve. Katy had wanted them to still be enjoying the experience even without her there.
They arrived at the hospital later that evening to pick up Katy, thankfully the girl was looking much better though she still had a large bandage on her hand from the IV. She was still wearing a hospital gown when they came in so Ed went off to sign the discharge papers and get her meds/ info on what they needed to do whilst Rose was helping her to get changed back into normal clothes. The girl was still a little paler than usual, she moved quite slowly and carefully so it took a little longer than normal for her to get dressed even with Rose’s help. Thankfully it was all sorted by the time Ed came back, smiling at Katy demonstrating her missing tooth to Rose. He had been informed about that. Of course the hospital knew that Katy was autistic so they could adapt certain things to make her more comfortable, but the girl was so extremely direct in her speech and mannerisms that when they examined her teeth to make sure there was no damage from her collapsing out of bed initially the dentist had asked if her tooth was already wobbly and Katy’s response was to simply pull it out. He walked over to his girlfriends and kissed them both on the forehead, taking Katy’s arm at the other side to Rose as they walked her out of the room and back towards the car.

They had been invited by Lou and Luke to a house party. Generally the trio tended to avoid going to parties but it was always very chill at Lou and Luke’s place. They were both on the spectrum with Lou also having adhd so their house was full of little things to make it more comfortable for themselves and their autistic peers. It was also very much just ‘come and go as you please’ which took a lot of pressure away if Katy got overwhelmed or one of them was having a hard time.
“Helllooooo!” Lou greeted them in typically excited fashion once they arrived. The blonde immediately jumped at Ed for a hug which made him smile, that was just typical Lou. He gave her a hug and smiled when she hugged Rose too, though he hadn’t realised till now that Katy seemed to be upset. Maybe because this was the first time she’d really been out since her surgery or perhaps she was just having a bit of an off moment but he braced himself for having to excuse them to calm her when the sudden touch of Lou’s hug set off her sensitivities. However, the blonde stopped short of hugging Katy and instead lightly tapped her on the shoulder then signed “do you need some space?”
Katy signed back “please” and Lou simply moved away again. Ed couldn’t help but grin, Lou had really proved him wrong by being so considerate of their girlfriend. He playfully rolled his eyes when she attacked him with another hug instead but she did know that he wouldn’t mind.
“Luke set up a breakout space. Just like a really chill zone with low light & stim toys if you wanna go there”
“can rose come with me?” Katy asked, she pointed to her girlfriend and Lou nodded.
Katy and Rose followed Luke to the room whilst Lou and Ed went into the main party area. He got chatting with some friends, Nish had a laugh that always rung through the room and it was clear he was enjoying the wacky story Lou was telling them.
