In the darkness, two shadows, reaching through the hopeless, heavy dusk. Their hands meet, and light spills in a flood like a hundred golden urns pouring out of the sun…
I stand still, basking in the light with Achilles’ warm hands in mine. Although we are dead, Achilles has and will always be, the light of my life. My shining star. Whether we were side by side or a sea apart, he has always been the one person I love. No matter what happened or who tried to get between us, I loved him. Nothing could ever change that I love him. Achilles turns to face me, his silky golden hair and tan skin glowing in the light. “Patroclus” he whispers as he pulls me into him, holding me tighter than he ever had before. “I missed you so much” he sobs into my shoulder. I pull away, grabbing his face with both of my hands. His dark olive eyes filling with more tears. “I missed you too, Achilles”. I rub my thumb across his soft cheek, “I'm here, we're here. We’re together again, Achilles, there's no need to cry anymore” He smiles softly, pulling me into a hug once more “I know,” Achilles says, his voice muffled as he speaks into the nape of my neck “I was just scared, I lost you, Patroclus, and it was all my fault, I'm so sorry. I couldn't bear to be without you, In life, and in death, I need you. You are my sun, my moon and all of my stars , I love you Patroclus, I have since the day we met”
