Work Text:

A good part of the year had passed since the time Sully and Nate returned from the Philippines. Without the Magellan’s gold, of course, but still happy that they at least survived this trip. Sully was sure that they would part the second the plane would land in New York, that was the plan, after all.

Right?

That’s, however, not what had happened.

During the flight, Sully and Nate fall into a pretty intense discussion as to what the best topping for pizza is, and after finding out that Nate actually likes pineapple pizza, Sully was this close to asking for a flight attendant to move him to another place. The guy was crazy! Nate laughed and said he was over-dramatic.

Their conversation slowly shifted to the favourite movie genres, and this time it was Nate who was shocked, because apparently never seen any superhero movie in the lifetime of nearly forty years was, as Nate put it, a crime. The younger man has been silent for almost five minutes before promising Sully to show him the best cinematography masterpieces because he just had to see them. And that he would sit right next to him, just to make sure that the man actually watched the movie. It was Sully’s turn to call Nate dramatic.

He didn’t even acknowledge that this actually implied that Nate wasn’t planning on leaving.

In the same way, Sully ignored the fact that they took one uber to drive home. Or that Nate came with him to his apartment. And the fact that he stayed the night also was left without attention. For some reason, it felt pretty normal to lend the younger man some clothes to sleep in after he was done with the shower.

In the morning Sully woke up to the smell of freshly done coffee and something that suspiciously smelled like pancakes. Nate made breakfast as a thank you for letting him stay the night, and this was the moment it hit Sully that they really didn’t part as planned. He stayed silent, though, enjoying the softest pancakes he had ever tried and a well-done coffee, savouring every moment while it lasts as the younger man would leave soon and forget about all this.

Nate didn’t leave.

Not entirely at least. He went home later that day, only to return the very next evening, ready to complete his promise, bringing a huge pack of DVD superhero movies with him, and leaving Sully completely speechless. This turn of events the man definitely was not expecting, he assumed that back in the airplane it was just a small talk, how could he anticipate that Nate true to his words would make him watch all Marvel movies and then a few more?

They made an actual tradition of this. Every Friday they would meet at Sully’s place to watch something that Nate would choose. They would order some pizza, and Sully would make sure to order one with pineapples, because he just couldn’t get over the face Nate makes every single time their order arrives and the younger man sees his favourite along with a few others. Nate always smiles so brightly, then hugs and thanks him so shyly, Sully couldn’t help it.

During one of their movie marathon evenings, when Nate took the pizza boxes from Sully's hands, not before hugging the man, of course, Sully started to think about how tactile the younger man actually was. Sully never paid attention to those kinds of things but Nate really touched him a lot. And not in some creepy or uncomfortable way. The younger man always hugged him as a greeting, and then when he was leaving to go home, when he was excited Nate would hug him as well, same goes to when he was sad. If they were taking a walk in the park Nate always hooked his hand around Sully's. There were also small touches. He would clap him on the shoulder, ruffle Sully’s hair, or simply would sit close enough for their knees to touch. Never had Sully thought about it until now.

Huh, interesting.

What was even more enormous, Sully found that he really didn’t mind all those touches, quite the opposite, because he began encouraging them. After his discovery Sully didn’t say anything to Nate, instead, he started to touch him as well. Now, he would hug Nate back, and it wouldn’t be one-sided anymore, and if he saw that the younger man’s mood was down, Sully would simply wrap his arms around him, knowing that this definitely would make Nate feel better.

Movie nights were different after this too. Of course, before, they were sitting pretty close to each other, but now it was a whole new level. Because not even twenty minutes later since the movie had started, Sully would find himself lying on the couch with Nate half lying on top of him, with his head on the man’s chest and arms tightly wrapped around Sully’s middle.

Sometimes Sully thinks that he lives for those moments.

“Are you comfy, kid?” Sully asked one Friday when Nate once again wrapped his hands around his waist.

“Uh-huh,” the younger man hummed and then tilted his head up to look at him. “You?” he asked with a slight blush on his face like he only now noticed how close he was to Sully.

Nate was so adorable and cute from this angle, completely relaxed with his hair being a complete mess, and with a small smile playing on his plump lips, and his eyes, gosh, his hypnotic honey eyes were practically radiating the warmth, Sully lost himself in them.

“Yeah,” he breathed out bringing his hand up to brush away the locks from Nate’s forehead, he felt as the younger man’s breath hitched. “I’m really comfy, kid,” he whispered eyes not leaving Nate’s ones as his hand moved lower to cup the cheek. Sully saw that Nate’s gaze darted from his eyes to his mouth and back to his eyes, then the younger man bit on his lower lip. “Tell me, kid, if I’m reading all this wrong,” Sully asked in a low voice. “Tell me, and I will back off, we will continue with the movie and pretend like this moment didn’t happen,” he murmured, caressing with his thumb the younger man’s cheekbone.

To his delight, Nate leaned closer to his face.

“You are not reading this wrong,” their lips were almost touching as he whispered that.

Sully smiled, that was all he wanted to hear. Crossing the last inches between them, Sully captured Nate’s lips in the sweetest kiss he has ever shared with anybody. Their lips moved in perfect syncs as he moved his hand from the cheek to the back of the younger man’s head, bringing him impossibly close. He felt as Nate smiled into the kiss, and Sully was pretty sure that he just unlocked the doors of Heaven.

Because that was how kissing Nathan Drake felt like.

When they were returning from the Philippines Sully never in a million years would guess that he and Nate would stick together. He would never guess that he would be okay with how tactile the younger man actually was and definitely would never guess that he would willingly spend his Friday evenings buying and eating pineapple pizza and watching superheroes movies.

But Sully found out, that as long as his boyfriend, Nathan Drake, would be by his side, would kiss him good morning and goodnight, and would lie with him during their movie and pizza marathons cuddling and whispering some comments to the film they are watching, he really could go behind this idea.

After all, wasn’t that what Heaven was made of?

Don't forget to let me know what you think!

Gosh, I hope this fandom still exists, I'm still thinking about my multi chapter idea, and hope it still will be topical if I ever write it
