He doesn't know when he got to this point.
All he remembered is Brimstone calling him after the recon team arrived back.
And to his horror, the old man was holding a familiar tablet. One he's seen his own peers get over the last few weeks.
He looked around to see who else got one. Astra, Jett, Phoenix, Kay/o, and Reyna, are the last of the agents who haven't gotten a dossier.
The first one to react was Jett, tears were running down her face, her frame trembling, she threw the tablet across the room and ran out the room with Raze on her tail.
The others read what was on theirs, but Yoru ignored their reactions, as he swiped past the red screen with the symbol that has been haunting Valorant.
His eyes scanned through the information to the right, everything on the screen was correct. Even his name…
His eyes widened, his hands shaking from the shock. Why was he shocked? He knows that the dossier guy knows his name. But seeing that name… the name he chose to leave for his new name, he wanted to vomit, scream, say something, but no reactions aside from the shaking.
“Yoru?” He felt a reassuring hand on his shoulder but swatted it away, dropping the tablet in the process.
He stared at it, the tablet, the name, the name that did so much wrong, Yoru wasn’t any better, but that name was made specifically for the person who he was now. Ryo Kiritani wasn’t supposed to be associated with Yoru at all.
He saw someone pick up the tablet, but he didn’t lookup. His mind was clouded, he couldn’t think straight. The only thing playing in his mind were the voices, the voices that Ryo knew, Ryo didn’t have a choice, Yoru did and he chose to leave them.
Then he woke up, he didn’t remember passing out, but he woke up in the familiar clinic that he’s been to so many times, only those times he came to visit agents who were in the care of Sage or Skye.
He found that he didn’t have his jacket and was only in the shirt he was wearing underneath. He found the jacket hung on the back of the chair.
Another thing appeared in his peripherals, no- a person did.
“Oh, you’re awake” The familiar Australian accent rang through, and Yoru looked up at her, Ryo would’ve made some flirtatious comment to any girl he saw.
When Yoru sat up, he noticed Jett being healed by Sage on one bed, and Phoenix sitting on another, healing himself with his fire. Raze’s arm was bandaged, her cheek didn’t look well, it looked burnt.
Skye noticed him staring.
“After you passed out, Phoenix read Jett’s dossier and ran after her. By the time we found them, Raze had a knife to her arm and a burn on her face. Phoenix and Jett were going at it, throwing fire and knives at each other. Jett said something about him having a better life and we guessed it made her mad.” Skye explained, Yoru gave her a confused look.
“They haven’t spoken a word since Kay/o used his knife on them.” She added, and Yoru nodded.
“I read your dossier, I’m guessing Ryo Kiritani is someone you didn’t expect to hear again?” She asked, and Yoru’s twisted to face her so fast it was a wonder he didn’t break a bone.
“Don’t say that name ever again!” He hissed, and Skye was taken aback but didn’t say anything further, only giving him a cup of water and left to go heal Raze.
It seemed that this woman really knew where it hurt for each of them, Yoru assumed that she saved them last, knowing there’d be a violent reaction to each other.
His mind was all over the place, memories he forgot were coming back, memories that Ryo made, memories he chose to forget. His head hurt too much to think clearly.
All he wanted at that moment was to forget everything, become a new person again, and leave Ryo and Yoru behind. Right now, he just wanted to kill the person responsible for bringing up Ryo Kiritani after so many years.
All he wanted to do was run away again, leave everything behind, leave the people he called family behind whether he admits it or not, and leave Yoru behind, like what Yoru did to Ryo.
Ryo Kiritani was dead, Yoru killed him. But then again, they are the same person.
