CH 1: RAGAN
"Hello, Ragan. I'm Dr.Care, and I'll be your therapist today." Dr.Care adjusts her position and straightens her glasses. She's holding a clipboard of some sort.
"Who the hell are you? Where in the nine worlds is this?" Ragan demands, looking around the office. There's succulents, soft blue walls, inspirational quotes, stressballs, and whatever cliché items you may find in a therapist's office. Not that she knows what half the stuff is being from 800AD and all.
"You're in my office, Ragan. This is a safe place." Some papers are flipped. "So let's start with how you're feeling today." Dr.Care smiles, but she scribbles something on her clipboard. It makes Ragan nervous.
"Did Gyrus put you up to this? When I get my hands on him I'm gonna-"
"Sorry, but my other clients are protected by confidentially rules. It looks like you may be feeling stressed. Am I correct in my assumption?" Dr.Care gives Ragan a kind but knowing smile.
Ragan snorts. She's half tempted to zap the grin right off the lady's face. "That's it, I'm out."
Dr.Care frowns just a bit. "But you already paid for this session. If you're not comfortable with questions, we can move on to something else."
Ragan doesn't remember paying for anything. She narrows her eyes in suspicion, but before she can get up to leave, the therapist holds up a paper with a black picture on it.
"An onion?" Ragan studies the picture in confusion.
Dr. Care raises a brow and looks at the picture herself. "Hmm." She says, furiously scribbling more notes.
"What does that mean?!" Ragan pipes up, suddenly interested. "Did I get it right?"
Dr. Care chuckles. "Don't worry, Ragan. Even though this activity is called the 'Rorschach test', you are not being actively graded on it." She holds up another paper with different ink splotches on it.
"A sword."
"A stupid looking strawberry."
"Eh? An upside down guitar?"
"Lightning bolt."
"A French pastry."
"Very good, Ragan." Dr. Care nods, taking more notes.
"So did I pass or what?" Ragan demands.
"It wasn't about passing, Ragan." Dr. Care reminds her gently. "I was just getting a feel of your personality and characteristics."
"Tch. There's no way you got all that from a couple blobs of black stuff."
"Well, I got a few things put together. Would you like me to share them with you?" Dr. Care asks politely.
"Sure, I'll humor you." Ragan rolls her eyes with a sour face.
"Well, it seems like you may have a hard time with trusting others. Despite this, you have good leadership qualities, and care about your teammates a great deal. Anger seems to be a forefront replacement strategy to hide your true emotions. It seems like there is a significant other in your life you care a great deal about." Dr. Care looks up at Ragan, who's gone quiet. "Shall I continue?"
"...." Ragan is speechless.
*20 minutes later*
Ragan is lying on the sofa with a stressball in one hand, chocolate pastries in the other.
"So anyways Gyrus and that stupid cockroach is the main reason I have trust issues...I mean who wouldn't after that? I wouldn't necessarily call myself an angry person. I'm just assertive, okay?!"
"You can be very abrasive at times Ragan. That's not necessarily a bad trait." Dr. Care nods, organizing her notes. "In fact, it can be a very desirable leadership trait when utilized properly."
"Exactly!" Ragan bellows proudly. "I was a Nordic princess in my time. Looking pretty isn't the only thing I had to do. By the might of Odin, I had to lead battles!"
"That's very impressive, Ragan. It seems like you had to face many trials alone." Dr. Care affirms.
"Yeah, used to." Ragan goes uncharacteristically pink. "Now I've got a good partner by my side."
"Would you like to elaborate on that, Ragan? It's okay if you don't. I'm just curious." Dr. Care leans forward subtly to show interest.
"Hmph. Well, if you must know..."
And Ragan talks for the whole scheduled hour about her partner, Ciboulette.
"I'm glad you have such a structured support system, Ragan." Dr. Care signs off on a successful session. "You are free to leave and join me for another session next week."
"Tch. I might." Ragan replies nonchalant.
Dr. Care finishes her assessment for her first client.
Name: Ragan Turgard
Affect: Apathic on upon admission. Client is more engaging and receptive to feedback as session progresses.
Recommendations:
- Ragan would benefit from more therapy sessions. Her lack of trust stems from prior feelings of betrayal from teammates. Ragan would also benefit from team-building trust exercises.
- She may need additional separate therapy for anger management/impulse control.
- Ragan expresses no feelings of discomfort with her powers. She seems to have mastered her abilities. No acute events with powers were witnessed.
Additional Notes:
-Ragan has a good support system with significant other.
-Ragan assumes responsibility for all teammates. Could be viewed as positive and negative trait. Negative aspect: Her sense of self-worth may be reliant on how she functions as a leader. In future therapy sessions emphasize purpose of branches out into other roles. Positive aspect: Ragan is very productive as a leader and motivates others.
-Ragan seems to focus anger and shift blame to 'Gyrus' and 'Cockroach' (Client is referring to 'Don Santigo.') Mediation between these parties may be needed due to frequent interactions with these individuals.
Outcome: Despite Ragan's temperament, she only poses mild risk to others.
