Work Text:

After the fundraising banquet, they stumble into the dim, artificially cold hotel room, breathless and giggling and pressing kiss upon giddy kiss to each other's lips like they they just can't help themselves. (And really, they can't.)

"Feels like I've barely seen you all night," Tooru says, which is true. His flight from Argentina had landed earlier today, and he and Shoyo had been seated apart at the banquet, had to schmooze with different people. Shoyo's just grateful they get to be alone now, even if they're smiling too hard to kiss properly.

"You've got me now," he says as Tooru starts peppering kisses across his cheeks and jaw. "You look really hot in a suit, by the way."

Probably something to do with the way it accentuates the broadness of his shoulders, or how he styles his hair extra nicely, slicks it back from his forehead just so. (Shoyo is doubly grateful, because Tooru looks strikingly handsome like that, and Shoyo gets to mess it up later.) Whatever. He's not going to overanalyze when the point is that it's a good look.

"You're not so bad in one yourself," Tooru says, dipping down for another sweet peck, now two, now three.

There's helium in Shoyo's chest and in his head. He winds his arms around Tooru's neck to keep from floating up to the ceiling. That wouldn't be very fun; he can't kiss Tooru from up there. Pressed this close together, he can feel the hard ridge of the engagement ring Tooru wears on a chain, tucked away from the world under his cornflower blue dress shirt for no reason other than wanting to keep this just between them for a little while longer. It's a big step forward in life, most people would say, and they're not wrong. But while this bland beige hotel room is a far cry from the hot beach in Rio where they'd shared their first kiss so many years ago, each searching for a piece of home in each other, Shoyo thinks that in reality, not much has changed between them at all.

"My future husband." He giggles again. The words aren't brand new, but they still sparkle with novelty.

Tooru embraces him wholly and says, "Lucky me."

Notes:

All of my ships across fandoms have drawn out my tendencies towards angst and/or tender intimacy, but so far, only oihina has gotten me to write unadulterated sappiness

God I love them
