Notes:

Hey, this is a part 2 of "Accidental Reveal"!

Work Text:

Adrien's head was reclining on Marinette's lap, and she was stroking his hair while reading a book as the new couple sat on one of the school's courtyard benches. Truth to be told, Marinette wasn’t paying attention to what she was reading. She was preoccupied with the boy that now was her boyfriend, and was laying his head comfortably on her lap. His hair is so shiny and silky, she loved playing with it. This might as well have become her new hobby: petting Adrien Agreste’s hair A.K.A Chat Noir's. If Marinette had been told months ago that this would happen, that she would be in this exact position, she would have died of excitement and astonishment. Not exaggerating.

“I can’t believe my code name was Buttercup.” Adrien snorted.

She playfully rolled her eyes. He’s never going to let this down, is he?

“Oh, quiet.”

Without moving from her lap, he adjusted to face her.

“But why Buttercup?” He questioned.

“I know right? A clown would fit you more.”

Marinette guffawed as he grimaced and stuck his tongue out.

“See? I was right.”

“Mean.”

He crossed his arms and looked away without moving from her lap, facing the students going in and out of the school. She let out a giggle at his childish behavior and leaned in towards his pouty face.

“Kiss?”

She heard him dramatically sigh and turned his face back at her, the smile back on his face. "Marinette, you wound me."

She smirked and leaned in, giving him a quick peck. As she pulled back, she had to contain her laughter at his lovesick expression which had been triggered by her barely 2 second peck. “Another one?”

He quickly nodded and she happily did it again. But just as she was going to back away, he stretched one hand behind her neck and tugged her back towards him. The kiss lasted a little longer this time, but it was still too brief for them as the bell had broken their moment. Adrien stole another kiss from her before getting up and offering a hand to his girlfriend. He accompanied her until outside the classroom hand in hand, like the gentleman he is. He had to miss this one because of an urgent photoshoot, so the least he could do was take her until there. He took hold of both her hands and gave both of them a kiss.

“I will see you later.”

“Can’t wait.”

He smiled and squeezed her hands before turning away. She entered the class with a lovesick sigh, oblivious to all the glances. She was in love, utterly in love. Adrien was an amazing boyfriend and all this began because she had accidentally seen him transform. It was so hard to act normal around him during the battles, all she wanted to do was kiss him and hug him. They were honestly lucky she hasn’t messed up yet.

Marinette shifted in her seat, oblivious to her best friend's hand waving in front of her face.
She could still smell his perfume, which was making it difficult for her to focus in class. She sniffed her palm, which he had been holding earlier, and let out a another lovesick sigh.

“Are you still with us, Miss Dupain-Cheng?”

That made her snap out of it. She froze in place and her eyes drifted around noticing all the weirded stares. Right. She’s in class.

“Uh– yeah. Sorry Miss Dumont.” Her face flushed with embarrassment.

“I hope this doesn’t happen again.”

“Of course.” She said apologetically.

The teacher nodded and turned around to write something on the board.

“You’re way worse than how you used to be before you guys got together.” Alya murmured quietly but loud enough for Marinette to hear, letting out a snort at the end. The bluenette rolled her eyes and playfully nudged her friend’s elbow. “Shush you. I’m not.”

“Are you going to tell him that you’re– you know.”

“I don’t know.”

“Wasn’t that the reason that you and Luka broke up?”

“Yeah, but it’s – ”

“Miss Dupain-Cheng and Miss Cesaire. This is my last warning.” The teacher warned.

“Sorry Miss Dumont.” The girls said in unison. The teacher sighed and turned around again.

The two exchanged a glance once again, and then Marinette mouthed, "It's risky."

“I’m sorry we’ll have to reschedule our date. You know how my father is…” The blonde sighed as he was walking his girl home hand in hand. They stepped in front of the door and she glanced up at him with a soft smile.

“I know. It's not your fault.”

“I was really looking forward to it.”

The bluenette stroked his cheek and gave him a small peck on the lips. “ Me too. But it’s okay. We can go tomo–”

“Look out!” Adrien shoved her, and they both fell to the ground, avoiding the blue lightning that was aimed at them. He had his arms protectively around Marinette so she wasn’t harmed. He however had slightly hurt his arm. He hissed in pain as he helped his girlfriend get up.

“Adrien, you’re hurt!”

“Don’t worry about me. Get inside and stay there until me and Ladybug take care of this akuma, okay? Please. The Miraculous Ladybug will fix this little bruise.”

Adrien grinned at Marinette’s little pout. She’s adorable.

She sighed and stepped inside, staring up at him as she did so. “Be careful.”

He nodded and dashed to a nearby hiding location, where he transformed.

____

Chat Noir was spying on the new akumatized victim, as he was also trying to get in contact with Ladybug. “LB, there is a villain at –” He was cut off as he felt a string wrap around him and pulled him back, swirling around as he was being released from it, facing his partner. He gave her an annoyed look.

“Was that really necessary?”

“Yes.”

“LADYBUG, CHAT NOIR! GIVE ME YOUR MIRACULOUS SO WE CAN FINALLY HAVE PEACE! ” The villain shouted as he shot the buildings all around him, turning them all into dust.

Chat Noir growled and muttered, “Another Copycat. Can we be finished with him already? He almost turned my girlfriend into dust!”

Ladybug smiled at that.

“You have a girlfriend?”

“Uh– Yeah. We just started dating recently. She’s so amazing.”

“You too.” She said lovingly.

“Huh?” His eyes widened, looking confused at his partner.

“I said – that’s good! ha.ha! ha.” She jokingly shoved Chat Noir's arm, who was still staring at her strangely . She suddenly hooked her yo-yo around his torso and drew him behind her, lifting his forehead for a fraction of a second. He looked around and witnessed the wall besides them crumbled.

“Shoot. That was close. Again.” He said, then hissed at the sudden pain on his arm.

“Oh no, is your arm okay?” She instinctively grabbed the arm he had injured before when he rescued her. “Yeah, I can mana– wait a minute. How did you know that I hurt my arm? This arm to be exact?” He raised his eyebrow at her, examining her face closely.

She froze in place and slowly glanced up at him, panic clear on her face. She took a few steps back after letting out a frightened laugh. “ I mean I don’t know – how would I know? I just guessed alright. ANYWAY, the akuma! LUCKY CHARM! Oh! I think I know!” She quickly snatched up her yo-yo and leapt away, leaving a perplexed Chat Noir behind. He watched as Ladybug's figure shrank and shrank as she moved further away, trying to fit the obvious puzzle pieces together. His eyes widened in realization, and a mischievous smile appeared on his lips. He then grabbed his staff and followed her.

Marinette was moving back and forth in her room, freaking out because she let that slip out earlier. How could she have made such a blunder? She almost gave herself away– she wondered if he actually put the pieces together. It was right after the battle, which means that he was on his way to check-up on her as usual. His behaviour wasn't any different after that slip-up, but what if he’s mad at her? What if he’s going to break up with her? What if –

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a tap on her trapdoor. Her heart skipped a beat. She hesitantly went to open the door, expecting to see an angry Adrien. Instead, he came with a bouquet of red roses and a bag of BBQ crisps, wearing his customary sweet smile.
She shifted her gaze between his face and his hands.

“My Photoshoot got canceled, so I thought why not watch a movie together. As our date. What do you say?”

She reached out for the bouquet and let him inside. She placed them in a vase and started preparing her computer, feeling a little relieved that he didn’t seem mad at her. Maybe he hasn’t figured her out? Or if he has – he didn’t seem bothered at least.

Adrien approached her from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder as she was setting up her computer. “Are you okay? You seem a little tense.”

“Y–yeah yeah. I’m good. Nothing to worry about. Say, what movie should we watch?”

He hummed in thought. “No romantic comedy movies I presume right? Since you don’t like them.”

“Yeah.”

One, two, three, four…five! Seconds passed when she realized what he said. She couldn’t recall ever telling him that she dislikes romantic comedy movies. Well, she did as Ladybug, but not as Marinette. Does that mean… She swallowed hard and pushed the thought out of her mind. Maybe she said something about it during one of their phone talks, but she can't remember it now. No biggie.

Unknowingly to her, Adrien was having his own little freak out as his mouth ached from smiling so much. He tightened his grip on her and exhaled a contented sigh. “I love you.”

Surprised, she turned her head on the side and gave him a kiss on the nose. “You’re going to make me melt. I love you too.”

After she hit play, they headed to the chaise and moved it so it was now facing the computer. Adrien made himself at ease first, then drew Marinette close to him and nuzzled her. He started playing with her hair after placing a kiss on her forehead.

“You’re so affectionate today.” She commented.

“What do you mean? I’m always affectionate.”

“Yeah but right now– I don’t know. You seem a little extra. And happier may I add.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m always this happy with you.”

Marinette hummed and adjusted her head better on his chest, smelling his perfume for the 100th time that day. “Yeah?” She murmured against his shirt.

“Absolutely.” He responded without hesitation, and the next words he said were the ones that caught her off guard the most.

“Always m’lady.”

And her reaction was the final confirmation he needed. She jumped out of his grip, and looked at him with wide eyes, dread evident in her expression. He caressed her cheek and made sure she knew that no matter what, they will have each other’s backs until the end. It’s them against the world after all.
