He darted down another dirty, trash filled alley, filthy water from the rain the night before splashing up, soaking the bottoms of his pants as he stepped in puddles. The chill in the air made his breath come out in little white puffs, as he panted, lungs starting to burn. He'd been running for almost ten minutes and was nearly to his hideout. Swinging up onto the closed lid of a dumpster he grabbed the fire ladder above him in glove clad hands. With a grunt he managed to pull himself up and scale the ladder, reaching the top of the building he darted across it. Jumping to the next roof, he picked up the sounds of his pursuer, the swishing of a cape and the steady pounding of feet.
Ugh, did he ever give up!? He couldn't lead him back to his hideout. No, he'd have to fight. Skidding to a stop he spun facing his pursuer, sucking in ragged breaths. He took in the man across from him, he looked like he always did. His stupid gray jumpsuit, dark purple cape with a deep hood that cast shadows over his face. The worst part was that the stupid jerk wasn't even winded, still breathing evenly and not a nearly wheezing mess like he was!
"Give it up, Chaos. You can't outrun me." He growled out, standing straighter trying to impose his high difference.
"Never!" Chaos wheezed, pointing at the hero.
"Give the diamond back to the museum, Chaos. I don't want to fight you but I will."
Chaos' breathing had started to even out. "I'll never give it back, Mysterion. The diamond is mine, now."
"I'll only ask one more time Chaos, hand it over." Mysterion said, holding out a glove covered hand waiting for the diamond.
Shifting on his feet Chaos laughed. "If you want it, come and take it!"
"Fine, have it your way." Mysterion said before he covered the space between them.
Chaos dodged the punch ducking under the swing before throwing his own punch. Mysterion grabbed his wrist twisting trying to pin it to his back but Chaos kicked out his steel toed boot connecting with the heros shin. Grunting at the hit Mysterion's grip loosened enough for Chaos to pull free and he twisted swinging with a haymaker clipping the hero in the jaw as he jumped back. Rubbing his jaw Mysterion growled before he darted forward, his fist slamming into Chaos' stomach.
Chaos doubled over, coughing from the hit. Sucking in a breath he gripped the purple cape, yanking himself up and head butted the hero. His metal headpiece smashing into the hero's forehead snapping his head back, knocking the hood off. As the hero staggered back Chaos pushed him, knocking the man down. Looking down at the hero, his messy blond hair now on display, his identity still hidden with the black domino mask. Chaos felt a quick pang of guilt when he noticed the small bloody scrape on the blond's forehead but shoved it away. The hero scowled up at him and Chaos felt anger bubble up, twisting his body he brought his foot up at an angle to slam it into the side of the hero's head.
Mysterion caught his leg pinning it between his side and his upper arm before he shifted pulling Chaos off his feet. Back hitting the roof of the building Chaos tried to bounce back up but Mysterion pinned him down. His knees digging into his side's as he straddled him and both hands pinned to the roof Mysterion glared down at him.
"It's over, Chaos."
Chaos scowled, before growling. "It's never over!"
Chaos planted his feet and bucked his hips up displacing Mysterion's weight. The hero tipped forwards and had to let go of one of Chaos' hands or slam face first into the gravel roof. Right hand now free Chaos grabbed a fistful of Mysterion's cape and used the blonds forward momentum to help flip him over his head. Chaos rolled to a crouch and pounced on the hero as he moved to a sitting position. Grabbing his shoulders he slammed the hero to the roof, his knee digging into his gut.
"Stop following me! What I do is no concern of yours Mysterion. I won this time, give up." Chaos snapped, pressing the hero harder into the gravel roof.
Chaos kneed the hero in the stomach before he pushed away and bolted across the roof. Jumping the gap to the next one and sliding down the fire escape and into the U-Stor-it before making his way towards his lair. Unlocking the garage door he lifted it and slipped in before shutting it behind him. He walked towards his whiteboard taking his helmet off and tossing it on a rolling chair.
The rattle of the garage door had him spinning on his heel and Mysterion ducked under the door pulling it down. Chaos clenched his fists at his side, glaring at the hero who's hood was back in place. He told him to leave him alone! Stupid saviour of the town never listened to him, always did what he wanted.
"Chaos-"
Chaos cut him off. "Get out, this is my secret lair you can't be here!"
Mysterion chuckled. "I'm not leaving until you give the diamond back, Chaos."
The diamond of course it was only about the stupid diamond. Chaos pulled the gem from the pouch at his hip looking at it. He never understood the appeal of them, it was just a shiny rock. Grabbing his helmet from the chair he'd tossed it too, he was going home. Gripping the gem tightly he hurled it at Mysterion's chest, the hero fumbled for it as Chaos shouldered past him.
"Chaos." A hand clamped down on his shoulder.
He spun around slapping the others hand off his shoulder. "You got what you wanted, I'm leavin'." He said, the character slipping slightly.
"Not until you tell me why." Mysterion tucked the diamond away.
"I'm the bringer of destruction, I don't need a reason." He said reaching for the garage door handle.
"Chaos." Mysterion grabbed his shoulder again.
"Let go'a me!" Chaos snapped, before swinging at the hero's face.
Mysterion stepped back avoiding the punch and snagged Chaos' hand. Shoving him back against the garage door he pinned the hand above his head. Before Chaos could do anything with his free hand Mysterion had that one too trapping it next to his other. Chaos struggled trying to pry his hands from the heros grip but the running and small fight from before had taken a lot out of him. Mysterion looked down at him, his hood casting his face in shadows making it hard for Chaos to pick out what he was thinking.
"Chaos," Mysterion's voice was softer, not holding its signature growl. "What's wrong?"
Chaos dropped his gaze to the floor, glaring. " Nothin', now le'me go."
If he'd forgotten then it obviously wasn't that important to him.
"Liar. Most of your schemes are harmless little pranks, but this time you stole a half million dollar diamond. You wanted my attention this time. Why?"
The question had Chaos' blood boil and his heart rate picked up. He had a lot of nerve to question him and to say he wanted his attention of course he did!
"You forgot." Chaos said softly.
"Speak up."
Chaos felt his lip tremble and he snapped his head up glaring at the other man. "You forgot, again!"
"Forgot?" Mysterion muttered to himself, probably trying to figure out what Chaos said.
"Just like last time!" Chaos shouted, feeling his eyes water. "How come I gotta be bad to get your attention? Today of all days, huh?" He finished on a shaky whisper.
Mysterion let go of his hands and Chaos dropped them to his side's as the hero pulled his hood back. Letting Chaos see his blue eyes behind the domino mask. His brow was pulled down in concentration as he thought. Chaos knew when it finally clicked in the other blond's head. His eyes went wide and his mouth opened slightly.
"Our anniversary."
Chaos scoffed. "Yeah, only our anniversary."
"I, shit Leo, I'm sorry." The characters dropped.
He sniffed fighting back tears. "Whatever, I'm goin' home."
"No, Leo, wait it's still our anniversary for," He looked at his watch. "Three hours, let me make it up to you."
"You forgot Ken, if I hadn't done this," Butters said, waving between them. "You'da never even remembered and that hurts."
Butters saw the flash of hurt in Kenny's eyes before he spoke.
"Leo, I'm bad at remembering dates. I mean how many times have you had to remind me about Karen's birthday? I've never been good at it but I love you don't ever think that I don't. You're the most important person in my life, so don't cry." He said, wiping a stray tear from Butters cheek.
"I love you too, Ken. We'll have to figure up a way so you don't forget our anniversary again." Butters said and Kenny smirked down at him.
"I don't know Leo. If this is what I get to do everytime I forget. Chasing you across town," He paused, lacing their fingers together and pressing them back to the garage door above Butters' head. "And pinning you to a wall maybe I want to forget next year."
Butters felt his face flush at the words and action of his hands being pressed into the door.
"I-Is that so Ken?"
Kenny pressed his forehead to Butters'. "Mm-hum, what do you say? Do you want Mysterion to chase you again next year, Chaos?"
His breath came out in a soft shudder. "If you think you can catch destruction, hero."
"Oh, I know I can." Kenny said before catching Butters in a kiss.
Next year would be fun.
