what's his name, huh? what'd he say?

Summary:

“Don’t.” George’s voice was calm but the grip around Tommy was firm, and he couldn't have been more grateful in that moment for George. Jared didn't stop there, though, getting closer to Tommy. He was close enough that the teen could smell the vodka on his breath, and Tommy squeezed his eyes shut.

When he opened them, Jared was on the floor, groaning as he clutched his stomach. Standing over him was Wilbur.

“Here’s the thing, Jared. Tommy would rather do anything else than talk to you right now, so I suggest you fuck off.”

Tommy doesn't have the best time at a party. Wilbur steps in.

Work Text:

The party was at its peak, bass vibrating through the floor and the loud chatter of conversations ringing through Tommy’s ears. It wasn’t really his favorite place to be, and he wondered why he agreed to going in the first place. Dream , his mind reminded him helpfully, and he scowled as he remembered how the upperclassmen invited him.

‘It’s going to be small, Tommy, probably like 20 or 30 people.’ Dream said, laughing as he pulled Tommy to his side. The whole team is going after the game, Tommy, do you really want to be the only one not going? You can come with me, I'll make sure nothing gets out of hand.

Bullshit , Tommy thought as he excused himself to the bathroom. The lingering scent of alcohol followed him, but he couldn’t be surprised. Some random guy had wanted Tommy to do shots with him, and ‘spilled’ vodka on him after he said no. He had tried to follow Tommy after, but he got lost in the crowd. Tommy was thankful for it, he didn’t think he could handle another second with someone else here.

Pulling out his phone, he scrolled through his contacts. Both Ranboo and Tubbo were a no, they couldn’t drive and their parents probably wouldn't appreciate being woken up at 2am to drive Tommy home. The rest of his friend group was either at the party or in a similar situation, which left Tommy with two options.

Number one? Call Techno or Wilbur, and pray they wouldn’t snitch. Number two, stay at the party until Dream goes home, and get dropped off at his house, probably in a few hours time.  He really didn't want to get in trouble with Phil, but the party was too overwhelming for him.

He texted Wilbur shakily, dropping his address and telling him that he needed to be picked up, and asking if they could pick up some fast food on the way home. He was unsure if that was the exact safe word, but hoped Wilbur would get it anyway as he made his way back into the party.

He smiled shakily as he got pulled into George’s circle, relieved to recognize a familiar face. He was laughing with a few other players on the football team, and a near empty bottle of whiskey was being passed around as the lights flashed around them. Tommy declined as it neared him, and fortunately it kept rotating. Things had begun to calm down as time passed, and Tommy wondered if he made the wrong decision in texting Wilbur. That changed when the guy from before had reappeared.

“Tommy! Forgot to tell you my name, it’s Jared. We should probably get back to what got interrupted, yeah?” He said, smirking at Tommy from where he was standing, just a few feet away. Tommy narrowed his eyes at him, shifting himself closer to George. Thankfully the senior caught on ,wrapping an arm around Tommy’s shoulders protectively.

Tommy would rather do anything else than talk to you right now, so I suggest you fuck off.” His brother’s voice was like liquid venom as he glared at him on the floor, and Jared was quick to scramble off.

As soon as he was gone, Wilbur’s focus was on Tommy. George let him go, and Wilbur grabbed Tommy’s arm as soon as he was in reach, swearing under his breath as they left the house. He was angry, Tommy could tell that much. His brother slammed his door shut, and he flinched as they pulled out. The other sighed, running a hand through his hair shakily as he looked at Tommy.

“I’m not mad at you, Tommy, just worried. Do you know how bad that could've ended? You got drunk , dude, it wasn't safe.” Wilbur’s voice shook, but Tommy was just confused.

“I didn’t drink, big man.”

“Tommy, I'm not Phil. You don’t have to lie, i can smell the alcohol on you”

“But- I didn't! Fucking Jared tried to make me do shots and when i said no he threw it on me.” Wilbur paused, tires screeching as he pulled over.

“He did what?” Wilbur's voice was scathing, and tommy was glad he wasn't the object of his brothers anger.

“Im having a talk with Jared, he needs to know he cant fuck you. Techno’s coming too, maybe he can help emphasize my point.” Tommy nodded, shakily, and Wilbur deflated when he saw the others' faces.

“You're fine, Toms, don't worry. He's only getting what he’s owed.” Maybe Tommy should have felt anxious, worried for what was going to happen, but he only slumped into the passenger seat as Wilbur drove.
