Lizzie and Joel walked on the sidewalk, hand in hand,chatting about simple matters. Lizzie looked up into the sky, it was quite cloudy and a few clouds looked gray and stormy.
Lizzie sighed and looked over to joel. ¨Are you sure it's not going to rain today?¨ Jeol waved her off with his free hand ¨pssss, don't worry, I checked the weather this morning!¨ Lizzie glazed but up at the clouds, ¨If you say so..¨
It was just after school and they had decided to plan a nice date at this cafe near the school, finals were coming up and they both agreed they needed some time to relax and take a breath, and the best way to do that was spend time together.
¨-So I told Fwhip if he wanted to make a mess and explode a potion, that he shouldn't be upset when Sausage throws hot water on him¨ ¨You let Sausage throw hot water on Fwhip?¨ ¨No. Pearl and Jimmy stopped him, plus Gem is scary and I'm not dealing with her fury.¨
Lizzie laughed ¨I agree, but personally, I think Kathrine is worse¨ ¨Kathrine? You mean the nicest person in our friend group¨ ¨You should have seen her when Scott and Sausage were arguing¨ Joel gave a fake shudder ¨I can only imagine¨ They both laughed together, and continued on with more stories about their friends.
Then, just as Lizzie had thought, A flash followed by a loud crack was heard, thunder, great. Then the downpour started, Lizzie showed Joel a ´I told you so´ look, he returned a sorta guilty look ¨I may have read the weather wrong¨ ¨You think?¨ Joel's only reply was some nervous laughter.
“Well let's go! Now my clothes are wet! Bloody hell!” Joel laughed a bit at Lizzies outrage before grabbing ahold of her hand and sprinting back towards the dorms.
Each step they took you could hear the puddles of water behind them being stepped on and spread out everywhere. They weren't that far from the dorms, it should only take a minute for them to get back. “Were going to my dorm” “What! Why! Mine is cooler” “Your is just full of green decor” Lizzie retorted.
Joel rolled his eyes even thought he knew she was right. “Plus mine is closer to the front, and I need to change before you messed up and didn't read the weather correctly”
Yeah, she was right on that one. They could see the dorms from here. The started running faster trying to save themself from getting even wetter although to be honest, their hair was already soaked along with their clothes, and it was becoming quite comfortable.
Finally they had reached the dorm, barging in they were met with a disappointed look from Pearl “Did neither of you think to check the weather?” “I did! and it said it was supposed to be clear skies!” “It said it was supposed to rain from 1pm to 10pm”
Lizzie glared at Joel, trying to save himself from his girlfriend's death glare. He quickly tried to explain the mistake “Well they must have just changed it!” “It’s been like this since yesterday” “Oh” “Bloody hell Joel”
Joel sighed “Please don't kill me” Lizzie rolled her eyes, “Let's go, we still have a date to finish, and now I have to change clothes thanks to SOMEONE NOT READING THE WEATHER CORRECTLY” “I get I get itttt, let's just go up to your dorm now before Gem materializes and starts lecturing me as well”
Lizzie mumbles something under his breath about he would deserve it before dragging him up to her dorm leaving a sighing Pearl behind them.
After they entered the dorm Lizzie had quickly gotten changed into something more comfortable and so did Joel, Lizzie had a few of his clothes in her room from nights they had stayed up studying in her dorm, also a plethora of hoodies she had stolen from him.
“So- what did you have planned” “Have you ever heard of Lifetime before?” “Oh god save me” Lizzie laughed and rolled her eyes “They aren't that bad!” “They certainly are! They are gross and all lovey dovey” “Boys are always so overdramatic” “I am not being over dramatic they suck!” “Boooo, joykill” Joel sighed, he was fighting losing battle.
“Fineeee, is it a romantic comedy at least?” “Yup!” “Oh thank everything” Lizzie turned on the movie before sitting next to Joel leaning against him, Joel smiled resting his head on her head.
“What the heck! But you just said you hated him!” “Why the bloody hell is she letting him manipulate her?! This isn’t healthy!” They were on their 3rd movie and safe to say, they all sucked.
Bad plots, 2d characters, awful jokes. Yet, they were still having fun yelling at the characters, they were now cuddled up with each other yelling at the characters as if they shared the same mind.
Maybe rainy days weren’t the worst, especially if you end up laughing about awful movies with your partner.
