Chapter Text
Selen and Finana rest on a grassy hill. The mermaid’s head rests on the dragon’s stomach as they lay on their backs, silently enjoying the presence of each other.
The sky is cloudy, shrouding the stars and the moon in a hazy gray blanket. Finana watches as pockets open up and a few stars peek out. Her head lifts and lowers to the rhythm of Selen’s breathing, the sleepy dragon borders on slumber as Finana thumbs circles into her hand. Light filters through the clouds as the moon shows its face, full and bright as it peeks over.
“Hi Moon.” Finana greets, waving at the sky with her free hand.
“Hey, Ocean?” Selen responds, confused at the apparently random gesture, her voice tired and groggy.
Finana hum’s happily as she presses a kiss to Selen’s knuckles, rolling her eyes, still staring at the sky. “I’m not talking to you dummy.” She scoffs into their intertwined fingers, smiling at the dragon for the thousandth time today.
She continues to admire the sky, recalling the names of the different stars that she can see, all the ones Selen taught her from the many nights they’ve shared under the night sky. Though the sky seems a little different tonight.
“It’s really pretty today.” She throws out, causing the dragon to open a sleepy eye, the light blue glows in the dim light.
“Are you still talking about the moon or is that about me?” Selen grins and chuckles. Her whole body moves with each laugh, making Finana’s head bob up and down everytime her chest expands.
“Hmm, you’re close.” She says after a moment of silence, puzzling the dragon even further. Selen makes a noise in confusion, more awake and conscious but not understanding the feesh any better.
“Sometimes you’re cute. Sometimes you’re cool and handsome.” She lists as she starts to sit up, the weight of her head lifts off Selen’s stomach. Selen watches as she does this, their fingers still laced together in a loose hold, grass sticking to the back of the mermaid’s shirt.
Finana turns her head to look at Selen, her braids undone, the purple strands splay across green, stray blades of grass cling to the fluffy feathers of her wings. She stares and smiles, watching the dragon’s eyes as they look up at her quizzically. They glow throughout the night, the pink and blue shine radiantly in the dark, bright enough to rival the stars in the sky.
She leans over, tightening her grip on the girl’s hand as she reaches over with the other, tracing her fingers along the dragon’s brow as she moves her bangs aside, settling on her cheek to cup Selen’s face.
“But the moon is beautiful tonight, aren’t you?” She adds with a wink, watching Selen as she processes the words. She feels her face heat up in her hand, staring awestruck at the mermaid.
Selen opens her mouth to say something but the words don't leave her mouth. Instead she resigns to rolling over, facing away from the mermaid, tail tucked between her legs. She doesn’t let go of Finana’s hand nonetheless, in fact she holds on even tighter, squeezing the smaller hand in hers as she turns her back toward her.
She hides her face behind her wings and an arm draped over her head, but the red tips of her pointy ears still peek out, showcasing her growing blush and embarrassment.
“You hang out with the ryuguards too much.” She accuses, muffled by the soft sleeve of her sweater. Finana laughs through a smug grin, accomplishing her goal of flustering the prideful dragon. She leans over again to press a kiss to the red hot burning star that is her girlfriend’s face, moving the dragon’s arm with little resistance.
“Oh but it's true, I just simply can’t take my eyes off of you~.” She teases further as she lightly peppers more kisses across her face. Finana somehow manages to make the dragon lie down on her back again, she can hear the soft thud of Selen’s tail as it thumps against the grass, now lightly curled around one of Finana’s legs.
Finana can’t see much in the cold dark of the night, but she doesn’t have to. She has Selen, even with the cloud covered sky blocking out the stars and the moon, Selen holds stars in her eyes, her beauty is radiant and bright, the stuff of legends and myths.
