It had been quite a while since the town of Green Hills finally returned to normal, once again.
However, Knuckles still was worried and ashamed with what he had done. He could’ve just went with Sonic and Tails this entire time and they could’ve all defeated Robotnik and got the Master Emerald. I mean, they did, but why didn’t they just do it much earlier. Knuckles had shamed himself every single day at the bathroom mirror for what he had done. He felt like he hurt the hedgehog, the fox, but especially their parents.
He needed to make things right.
He knocked the door to Sonic’s room, and requested to enter.
“Yeah, sure buddy! Enter!”
“Hey, S-Sonic.”
“What do you wanna talk about?”
“Well, I wanna say sorry for the mishap I had caused. That I almost killed you.”
“It’s okay, Knuckles. I get it. You didn’t know any better.”
“I know, I know!”
“And I know where you’re coming from. I thought I wouldn’t have been accepted cause of what I haven’t done either. Buddy, I know how it feels.”
“But… what could I do to make you feel better about me?”
“Just forgive and forget, okay?”
“Okay. But I have something else I wanna discuss with you.”
“Yes?”
“I had thought about this and it feels so weird to say but…”
He placed his hands onto his face.
“I-I like you?”
“Oh, I do too!”
“No, Sonic. I don’t mean we are like friends or whatnot.”
“I don’t mean that either! I genuinely believe you’re a cute little fellow! Your fur is nice,” he began to rub on the echidna’s shoulder. “and your voice is very relaxing and soothing to me.”
“Haha. Thanks. So like, could we—“
“Yes, Knuckles. We can be a thing!”
Knuckles went off the bed and started to jump up and down in heavy excitement.
He gave his hand for the two to handshake.
“Uh… how about a power-bump instead?”
“Sure!”
The two power-bumped, then went to the living room.
“So like… what would you call this, Sonic?”
“I mean if you only like guys like me, it’s called being gay.”
“Gay. I kinda like that term.”
“Well, that’s good, Knuckles!”
Tom and Maddie overheard their conversation, Wade was there to visit them for the day aswell.
“Honey, do you hear them? I think they like each other.”
“Oh god, do you think they’re even ready?”
“Oh, come on, donut lord, just let them have this one!” Wade added.
Tom gave Wade a deadpan.
Sonic and Knuckles had noticed the three.
“Hi, everyone!”
“Hi, Sonic.”
Tom gave off a fake laugh, as he didn’t know what to say in case Sonic revealed his new found relationship.
“Dad, are you okay?”
“No, he isn’t. He just wants to—“ Maddie said before getting interrupted by Wade.
“Try to make sure you and Knuckles aren’t a thing, but keep on doing what you’re doing. You’re doing great!”
“Thanks, Wade. Heh. Dad, are you not fine with it?”
“It was just out of nowhere, I shouldn’t have reacted like I did. It’s just so weird for y’all to meet one day and then be in love the next.”
“Yeah, I get you. I understand. It is quite sudden.”
“But it’s… pretty nice though.” Knuckles chimed in.
“It is. And I’m very happy for you two.”
“Aw. Thanks, dad.”
They all got up from their seats in the living room.
“Now let’s go ahead, and visit McDonald’s. We gotta celebrate Tails on his first day there.”
“So, you’re telling me that you and Knuckles love each other?”
“Correct, Tails. I’ll also tell you that you make quite delicious Happy Meals. Knuckles over here is really getting a kick out of it.”
“Well, Sonic. I’m very glad for you two, but are we still gonna fight crime when we have together?
“Of course, buddy! We all will.”
The three smiled at each other and walked out of the restaurant together.
