Work Text:
The presence of Arataki Itto towering over her was a rare occurrence. Typically if this happened, something had truly stressed him out. She had only seen it twice before - the first was during their first genuine fight and the second was during their wedding preparations when everything had grown too overwhelming to handle in the moment.
Seeing him in this state sent her head into a tizzy.
"I love you... and I'm sorry."
Sara tilted her head as she glanced up from her work to stare up at him. “Is everything alright, Itto? Why are you apologizing?”
“I…I did something bad.”
Her mind stopped processing. Itto had done something genuinely bad? Is that what he was implying? She ran through all the possibilities and part of her desperately hoped he hadn’t done something that warranted an officer’s presence. The last thing she needed was her husband being hauled off to jail.
But was Itto capable of such a thing?
‘I’ll beat that guy up!’
Okay, maybe not. Sure, he was capable of beating a person to a pulp if necessary , but not enough to get arrested for it. The idea still worried her though.
“Honey,” she asked, standing up from her spot, “what exactly did you do?”
“...I might have eaten your pudding.”
She blinked.
“You ate my pudding?”
“Yeah.”
Itto twiddled his thumbs, eyeing his wife’s every movement. However, when Sara burst into laughed, he covered his face.
“Hey, stop laughing!” He removed his hands and pouted. “It’s not funny!”
“I’m- I’m sorry,” Sara said as she tried to catch her breath. “I thought it was something worse.”
“Something worse? Like what?”
“Beating up someone to the point of no return or getting arrested.”
Itto’s eyes popped out of his skull. “Huh?! Sara, I would have turned myself in first and let you scold me at the station.”
“Sounds about right.”
The two burst into giggles and Sara sighed in relief.
“Oh, and I might have also snuck a piece of cake.”
“Without me?!”
At least it was just desserts.
