Work Text:
“We hadn’t even been dating that long,” Ava thought to herself as she sat in her living room, nursing her third glass of wine or maybe her fourth but who’s counting? It was probably too early to call each other girlfriend anyway. Maybe she just got carried away, maybe she was a little starved for fun since she had been working so much overtime at the Bureau. Surely she couldn’t feel this much for someone so fast. It wasn’t logical.
Ava shook her head to clear her thoughts and went back to scrolling on her phone. She looked through the news, “depressing” she thought and switched over to Upswipes. She had downloaded it in a weak moment, but she hadn’t really been on it much. Her notifications said she had some matches. “Why not?” she thought, clicking on the red dot at the top of the screen. She swiped past the first few but stopped when she saw a familiar face.
“Interesting” she thought as she clicked on the profile. Seems like her ex, who had followed the so-called love of her life to Vegas, was single again. Ava had been the one to end their relationship and the breakup had been amicable. They were just in different places in their lives. She studied the woman’s profile picture. She was lounging on the bow of a boat in a bikini that left little to the imagination.
“She still looks good,’” Ava thought. Not as good as Sara. Ava’s mind wandered to her last night with Sara. The night before the g-word conversation. She could still feel Sara’s lips on hers and, well, other places. She thought about the feel of Sara’s toned body under hers, muscles rippling with every move. “Nope! Stop it!” she told herself. She couldn’t keep letting her mind go there. Sure, Sara was sexy. Okay, she was hot as hell and an amazing lover and…. “Ugh!” Ava said aloud shaking her head once again.
She needed a distraction, needed to get out of this damn apartment, away from the Time Bureau, do something besides work and sleep. She looked back down at her phone, at the profile picture of her ex. “Do I still have her phone number?” she wondered and flipped over to contacts. Yep, she still had it. She hesitated only briefly before clicking on the contact and beginning to write a text.
“Hey,” she typed, “saw your profile on Upswipes. Are you looking for some company?”
