Work Text:

The orange glow of the morning sun shone through the gap between the open curtains, catching the face of a sleeping Hajime. Awoken by the light (and cold space next to him), he blinked the sleep out of his eyes. He sat up, yawning and scratching his bare chest, catching a glimpse of the empty bed space next to him. Hajime frowned. He usually woke up as soon as his husband left his side because the lack of warmth next to him was enough to stir him up, plus, he usually left a kiss on Hajime's cheek before leaving. It's a Sunday too, he doesn't have work. Hajime frowned even more.

Stretching out his sleeping muscles, he climbed out of bed. It’s always so cold in the mornings Hajime grumbled to himself, throwing on the grey sweatpants he found lying on the floor next to the bed. Why did he have to open the curtains? He pondered, he knows I hate waking up so early. However he knew his husband. Hajime knew he liked to tease him, to push him to the edge but most of all, he liked Hajime’s attention.

And oh was Hajime going to give him attention.

He made his way from the bedroom, downstairs into the kitchen, where he knew his husband would be. The smell of coffee hitting his senses confirmed his suspicions. Hajime smiled, his husband knew how to put him in a good mood.

And there he was, swaying gently in front of the counter and humming a tune. Golden rays of light shining against brown curls and pale skin as he smiled softly to himself, stirring a spoon in a mug.

Hajime felt all the anger of being woken up early disappear, now being replaced with overwhelming fondness for the man in front of him. He allowed himself to drink in the sight a little longer, a rare one for Hajime to see with his tendencies of waking up late. A shirt much too big (one that Hajime recognised as his own) was thrown haphazardly over his shoulders, a few buttons done up. It seemed that his husband had foregone his pants, showing off his obnoxious pink boxers. He snorted at the sight, causing his husband to jump, cutting off his humming. Spinning around, scared, his husband looked ready to murder.

Then settled when he realised it was Hajime.

“Jesus, Hajime.” He spoke before turning back to his stirring, “it’s too early to be scaring me like that.”
Hajime let out a chuckle, slowly making his way across kitchen and meeting his husband. Arms slowly encircling around his waist, Hajime’s chest became flushed against the back of his husband, Hajime’s thin shirt his husband had taken being the only thing between them. A kiss, placed on the back of the neck, followed by a murmur of: “Morning, Tooru.” was all it took for Tooru to smile and continue humming his tune.
He put his weight back so he fell into Hajime’s embrace, head falling back to his shoulder. He closed his eyes, swaying as the tune continued. Hajime followed his husband’s sways, closing his eyes too and relishing in the quiet morning they’re allowed to have on these Sundays. Although Hajime would prefer to be in the warmth of his bed, having Tooru in his arms was worth the early rise.

“Why are you awake so early?” Hajime asked after a while, still keeping his eyes closed, tightening his hold around Tooru and slowing the sway of their hips.
“Breakfast.” Was the simple reply Tooru gave back before his humming continued to fill the quiet morning air.
“For me?” Hajime’s voice was rough from sleep, still half awake and feeling himself drifting with Tooru in his hold.
The humming stopped and Hajime felt Tooru stand up straighter in his hold. “It was.” He started, a pout evident in his voice, “until it went wrong.”
Hajime couldn’t even be mad. In fact, a smile threatened to spill across his face. He knew of Tooru’s cooking abilities so he wasn’t surprised that his husband hadn’t made breakfast in bed.
“But!” Hajime smiled at the happy tone in Tooru’s voice. He had also not fully awoken yet, Hajime noted, as Tooru still had some roughness and his voice broke as he tried to say anything too loudly.

Hajime let his head lean forward and rested it between Tooru’s shoulder blades, his voice becoming background noise as Hajime let himself go, almost falling asleep standing up. He could feel Tooru's movements, slow and lazy, not enough to interrupt Hajime from almost drifting off. Tooru must have felt his heavy weight because next thing he knew, he was being jolted awake by a harsh movement and a soft: “Hey, sleepyhead.”
“Mmm?” Hajime hummed back in response.
“Coffee?”

Hajime then remembered standing in the doorframe and watching Tooru stirring a spoon in a mug. Giving his husband a quick squeeze around his waist, and without looking up, he reached for where he remembered the mug being. Grasping a handle he started pulling it towards him, lifting up his head to take a sip but-
“Ah!” Tooru is suddenly turning in his arm and grabbing the top of the mug gently with his hand before it could reach Hajime’s lips. “That one's mine.” He smiled softly at Hajime who was standing, blinking in confusion.
Tooru let out a quiet chuckle, setting the mug down and grabbing Hajime’s, a Godzilla mug that has been with them since they moved into their house just before they married.

“I know you prefer yours black, no sugar.” Tooru mumbled, still smiling as he gave the coffee to Hajime.
Giving a tired smile back, Hajime took a long sip from his coffee before setting it back down, letting his arm fall back in place around Tooru’s waist and snuggling into his neck.

“Let’s go back to bed.” He grumbled
Tooru wrapped his arms around Hajime’s back, letting his head fall in place against his shoulder. “But we’re up now, might as well do something with our day.”
“Sleep? Cuddle? Kiss? Movies? Se-”
Tooru interrupted him, letting his head fall back with laughter, one that filled Hajime’s body with warmth and love. “I’m serious.”
“I’m sure you are!” He placed a kiss on Hajime’s bare shoulder. “Let’s cuddle and watch some movies today. Maybe we can have a nap later.”
A mumble, one that Tooru barely heard, “I’d rather do something else later.”
“Hajime!”
Hajime laughed and Tooru rolled his eyes fondly, "come on, let's move to the couch. I'm too cold stood here."
Hajime lifted his head, a mischevious grin and twinkle in his eyes. "Well if you stayed in-"
"-in bed then I wouldn't be. I know, I know." Tooru grinned back.
Staring a little longer into Tooru's eyes, a stupid smile on both of their faces, Hajime leaned in closer.
"I love you, Tooru. Even when you force me awake too early in the morning."
"I did no such thing!" Tooru gasped.
Before Hajime could answer back, Tooru leaned in and pecked him on the lips, stunning Hajime and making him forget his retort.
"I love you too, Hajime"
