"Sir, there's something you'll want to see."
The analyst who had just passed the time door handed him a file.
It was him.
Loki.
With the stamp « apprehended" in red on his picture.
Once past the time door, Mobius began to run for the first time down the TVA's hallways. His run seemed endless and when he reached the back of the courtroom, he heard Judge Renslayer's voice, "Variant L1130 aka Loki Laufeyson is sentenced to be pruned, effective immediately."
Mobius shouted to stop but no sound came out of his mouth and he only had time to see Loki disappear before his eyes.
"Lokiiii!"
Mobius awoke with a start, his heart pounding and his breathing short as if he had really just run.
"Mobius? Are you okay?"
The familiar voice definitely brought him out of his dream and Loki's hand on his shoulder finished anchoring him to reality.
He tried to slow down the pace of his breathing by trying to inhale and exhale deeply.
"1...2...3...in...1...2...3...out"
"Hey love are you alright?" asked Loki again as he slipped his arms around Mobius, pulling him gently towards him.
Mobius turned to face Loki and Loki saw a relieved expression slowly appear on his face. Mobius gently moved his hand forward to gently touch his face and said softly, "You're here."
Loki pressed a light kiss to the forehead of Mobius, who curled up against him.
He whispered again against Loki's chest, "You are alive. I found you." Then he turned his head to listen to Loki's heartbeat, to make sure he was alive.
Loki continued to caress his back and cradle him.
After a few moments, he asked him softly with a worried voice, "Do you want to talk about it?"
Mobius looked up and took Loki's face in his hands, "I had a dream… that I didn't make it to the TVA court on time, and that you got pruned in front of my eyes."
Loki looked contrite, "My poor love, believe me I know exactly how painful it is. To have the person you love disappear before your very eyes. But it didn't happen, you came in time to save me. My hero. "
Mobius laughed softly, "I feel anything but a hero, but I'm extremely glad I made it in time."
Loki nodded, "Not as much as I am. Even at that moment when everyone was condemning me, you were already there ready to save me and put your career on the line. If that doesn't make you a hero, then nobody deserves that title."
He pressed his lips to Mobius' to prevent him from retorting and Mobius surrendered, far too relieved to have his beloved in his arms. Alive and safe.
After long minutes, when they parted, Loki wrapped his arms around him again and Mobius tightened his grip on him.
They fell asleep like that, one against the other and did not let go of each other all night, both needing to reassure themselves that they were alive and together.
