Keqing hears the sound of the keys in the front door, signaling that her girlfriend made it home, and so she goes to the door to receive her.
“Welcome back, Ganyu.” She smiles cheerfully when Ganyu enters the house. “How was your day off?”
It wasn’t a day off per se , it was simply one day every month that Ganyu reserved to go up Mt. Aocang and visit Cloud Retainer. Her master enjoyed listening to how Ganyu is doing in human society, and Ganyu always complies and goes up to visit her.
Keqing follows Ganyu to the living room as she leaves her bag on the table.
“Hello, my love.” Ganyu sighs weakly, her brow slightly furrowed. “It went well, as far as one can expect.”
Keqing wraps her arms around Ganyu’s middle, hugging her back gently.
“That doesn’t sound like it went so well.” She says, and then she reaches up, pressing her lips to one of Ganyu’s horns, leaving tender small kisses along its surface. “Is it something you want to talk about?”
“I don’t really wish to talk about it.” Ganyu says, voice low. She grows stiff in her arms, the tips of her ears blooming in pink colors. “Can you— Um . Can you stop that?”
Keqing obeys and lets go of Ganyu, positioning herself in front of her now. She brushes the back of her fingers to her cheek. Ganyu follows her movements with her lilac eyes.
“Are you grumpy, my love?” Keqing draws a small smile.
Ganyu shakes her head, brushing Keqing’s hand off of her, but she leans to her, resting her head on her collarbone. Ganyu’s voice sounds low when she opens her mouth.
“I’m not grumpy.”
Keqing chuckles, holding Ganyu’s chin and lifting her face to look at her. Her lilac eyes seem troubled and hazy.
“Alright. Well, since you’re not grumpy, you won’t mind coming to bed with me, right?” Keqing draws a gentle smile. “You can rest your head on my lap, and you can not tell me about your day. Does that sound okay?”
Ganyu nods, the bridge of her nose blooming with pink tones. “That does sound nice.”
Keqing guides Ganyu to their shared bed, resting her back on the wall and prompting Ganyu to rest her head on her lap.
She does so reluctantly, lying on her side to not poke Keqing’s thighs with her horns by accident.
“Are you comfortable?” Keqing asks, voice gentle.
“ Mhm .” Ganyu nods, her cheek pressed to her thigh, her ears flushed just the faintest shade of red.
Keqing thinks Ganyu is adorable as she reaches for her and starts brushing her fingertips over her skin very lightly, as she softly hums a song under her breath, and Ganyu lets her do as she pleases.
Keqing draws the shape of Ganyu’s ear, her earlobe, the line of her jaw and then back up again with the back of her fingers. She ghosts over her cheek, the side of her nose, her lips, and once again up her jaw. Ganyu’s eyes flutter closed, her tension melting as she completely relaxes in her touch.
“Shenhe was there.” Ganyu opens her mouth after several minutes in silence.
“ Hm ? That is a good thing.” Keqing whispers. “You had mentioned you wanted to get to know her better.”
“I suppose you’re right.” Ganyu says, shifting closer to Keqing, her forehead softly pressed against her lower belly.
“What is it, then?” Keqing prompts her to keep talking, her nails scratching lightly at the base of her head. Ganyu shivers at the touch.
“It’s of no importance, really. Simply the same old situation as it always is. Cloud Retainer started telling stories of when I was a child, and…” Ganyu swallows. Tries again. “That made me uncomfortable, is all.”
“I’m sure Shenhe paid them no mind, Ganyu.” Keqing says gently. “She grew up under Cloud Retainer’s wing just as you did. She surely knows it’s best to take her master’s words with a grain of salt.”
“You’re most surely right.” Ganyu sighs, and Keqing resumes her soft massage on her scalp. “It’s nothing serious, as you can see. Please, don’t concern yourself with this matter.”
“But I’m concerned about you .” Keqing holds the side of her face with her palm, and she finds her eyes. Ganyu’s chest shudders at the affection she finds tucked there. “Ganyu, you’re my life . It pains me to see you so insecure about your past. You most surely were an adorable child, and you’re a beautiful woman. Please, don’t ever doubt that.”
Ganyu’s eyes glisten with tears, but she closes her eyes and presses her head against Keqing’s lower belly again.
“Thank you.” Her voice sounds muffled but full, oh , so full of love for her. “Being with you, your words… You always know how to soothe my heart, Keqing.”
“I love you.” Keqing says simply, leaning down and pressing a kiss to her hair, and Ganyu smiles.
