“Oi.”
Something hit Oikawa’s head, making him wake up. When did he even fall asleep? He couldn’t remember.
“Iwa-chan,” a lazy smile decorated his face before a yawn made him realize how tired he was. “That’s not a nice way to wake someone up.”
“My bad, next time I’ll kick your chair,” Iwaizumi stared at him down, arms crossed. The expression on his face made Oikawa want to bother him some more.
“That’s mean,” closing his eyes seemed like a bad idea. Seconds passed and Iwaizumi hit him again, a weaker hit this time, to wake him up one more time.
“Don’t you have a bed to sleep in? I don’t wanna listen to your complaints when you get cramps later,” even if he sounded annoyed, he left a bottle of water on Oikawa’s desk. The latter didn’t realize it at first, too sleepy to notice anything at all. However, Iwaizumi’s words ringed in his head and he suddenly felt more awake than ever.
“I’m going out,” Oikawa took his jacket from his chair and started walking towards the door, stopped by his best friend standing in front of it.
“It’s late, where are you going?”
“Out. Why? Are you afraid I’m meeting up with someone behind your back?” he teased. But seeing the change of expression on Iwaizumi’s face made his chest hurt enough to try to clear things up. “Listen–”
“You should rest,” the pained expression faded as Iwaizumi talked.
The ache Oikawa felt grew even more, making him regret doing such a joke. It was no secret that he used to meet up with girls all the time in the past, but it’s been years since the last time anything of that sort happened. Thinking about it, did Iwaizumi even know that? He should’ve noticed, right? He always knew when something was up with him so it made no sense for Oikawa to feel like he wouldn’t know about it.
“It’s not that late,” he watched his phone’s clock. “I’m gonna practice a little bit before going to bed.”
Iwaizumi kept quiet. He seemed to believe in his word –not like he was lying– but wasn’t sure about something. Oikawa sighed and stepped closer to him to leave a kiss on his cheek, thinking about blaming it on being too asleep to think straight. When Iwaizumi looked at him in utter surprise, Oikawa gave himself a mental pat in the back.
“I’ll be back soon, don’t wait for me,” taking advantage of Iwaizumi’s shock, he opened the door and hurried down the stairs.
Once he was breathing heavily with eyes open in shock for what he had just done, did he realize he left his practice ball in the room.
