Chapter Text
“A gelato would be great, wouldn’t it?” You said, patting your dog’s head with a sigh. It was forty-one degrees in the park but did it stop you from craving a good old cup of ice-cream? No.
You were sitting with your dog in the park. You have been coming here for a few Sundays now for a stroll, but mainly for your dog to have the life he deserved. The fresh air however, was a bonus you couldn’t pass on.
All of a sudden, your dog decided to get up and ran off, barking at another dog that was heading towards you and him.
“Oi! Krypto! Where are you bloody going?!” You got up and ran after him then finally stopped as your dog was saying hi to his new friend while you were panting off your weakness because you didn’t really exercise so running after a dog at that speed was killing you from the inside.
“Krypto? That’s his name?” An unfamiliar tone interrupted so you looked up to face him.
Eyes widen, stunned by the man before you. You knew exactly who he was because he was the reason your dog is named ‘Krypto’. However, fangirling out loud was not your thing. Ever since you were a child, you'd convince yourself to stay cool under every situation you felt pressured. This one was also the situation where you'd decided to play it cool.
“Yes. It is.” You pointed at a big, white Samoyed dog you’ve lived with for a few years now. He was everything to you at this point.
“Nice. May I?” He responded with a smile, hand only a few centimeters away from Krypto’s forehead as he asked you for permission to pet your dog.
“Oh, please, go ahead.” You nodded, beaming a smile, glancing away from him to his dog, Kal. You knew he was a gigantic dog but you didn’t think he’d be this big.
“Where’d you get the name? Krypto, I mean.” He asked.
‘What is he playing at? He must have known. Why would he ask me that?’ You thought.
“It’s Superman’s dog.” You replied but with a sarcastic humoured tone.
He smirked at your response.
‘What the fuck was that?’
“This is Kal.” He finally stood up, gesturing his hand towards his dog.
“Hey, Kal. It’s nice to meet you, darling. You. Are. Huge.” You greeted him with a completely different tone as you kneeled down and pet him.
“He gets that a lot. Don’t you, Kal?” He said.
“They seem to like each other.” You added, looking at both of their dogs.
He nodded.
“Yeah, they do. He’s usually a bit picky, this one. Although, I'm not surprised he stopped for Krypto.” He chuckled as he stood up after playing with Krypto for a few minutes.
“I’m Henry, by the way. Nice to meet you.” He extended his hand out to you. You responded, taking it before shaking it gently.
“Y/N. Nice to meet you, Henry.”
‘Okay, how long am I going to pretend that I'm not completely losing it in my head right now?’
“I’ve never seen you here before and I come here every weekend. Well, not every. When I’m in London, at least.”
‘Oh?’
“It would’ve been weird if you had. I just moved here from Melbourne, so… yeah.” You shrugged.
“Ah. Explains the accent. Australia, huh? I haven’t been in a while. Never been to Melbourne, though.”
Your brow lurked at his comment.
“Yeah, it’s not too different from here, really. The weather is a bit whacked like London. Unpredictable.”
“So what brought you here, then?” Henry asked.
“Shepherd’s pies.” You replied, pulling a serious face.
He lurked a brow, not being able to tell if you were joking or not.
“Gotcha!” You laughed, continuing to speak.
“Work brought me here. Well, brought US here.” You emphasised, including Krypto in the sentence.
“May I ask why you look miserable?” He asked out of the blue, then realised that it came out completely wrong so he corrected it.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean— I mean, I hope you’re okay.” He sighed, giving up explaining.
You let out a slight chuckle, amused by this whole ridiculous situation before you.
‘Henry Cavill is awkward? Who would have thought?’
“No, it’s fine. I’m mentally thanking you for asking me that because I've been DYING to get to know someone here. I don’t know anybody here and I've never even traveled here before so… it’s been maddening. Last week, I walked around the same streets for two hours just because I couldn't find the right bus stop.”
This was the first time after you got here that you spoke to someone this much. It was like lifting a huge mountain off of your shoulders.
“Wow. That was intense. You’re not completely alone, though. You got the little guy right by your side.” He pointed at Krypto.
“And hey, you’ve made your first London friends today. Me and Kal. That's progress.”
“So, we’re friends now?” You laughed.
“Absolutely. Unless you don’t want to— sorry, I shouldn’t have made an assumption—”
“Henry. Please, don’t be ridiculous. This is making my day.” Actually, you were surprised that you’re able to keep it cool till now.
“It is? What an honor. Well, I've got to get going. I’ll see you around, Y/N.” Said, Henry as he gently pulled Kal’s leash to let him know they were leaving.
“Yes. Me too. Got to get home to my CoD match.” You replied, feeling bummed out that he was already leaving.
“You’re on CoD? Seriously?
“Yeah, why?”
“So am I! You know what? Why don’t you give me your ID and we can go for a match with your new London friend.”
‘Henry fucking Cavill asking for my contact? I’m going to be gaming buddies with Superman? I fucking love London already!’
“Are you sure? I’m sorry but wouldn’t that be weird for you? I mean, fuck, i’m more than welcome to give you my ID but you don’t know me. I could be your creepy, stalking fan for all you know.” It was true. As much as you wanted to have this privilege of becoming his friend, you wanted to make sure that he really was okay with it.
“You’re not, are you? Plus, I think I can take care of myself.” He appreciated that you asked him that though.
“Well, I am not a creepy, stalking fan but I am a fan. My dog’s name is bloody Krypto, for god’s sake.”
“Look. It’s fine. I’d love to hear more of that accent, actually. It’s refreshing.”
Well, that made you blush.
He noticed then smiled. He liked it.
“Fine. Don’t laugh. It’s elmayarah048.” At this point, you could hear that Henry was trying not to.
“Oh, Y/N. I think we’re going to be good friends. I’ll add you tonight.”
“I’ll pretend I'm not gonna sit in front of my PS4 and wait.”
Henry laughed at that and shook his head a little.
The two of you waved at each other before you parted from him and Kal. You stood there, still. Looking down to Krypto who had no idea what had just happened.
‘You just met your biggest celebrity crush in a bloody park and are now friends with said celebrity crush AND you’re going to play CoD together.’
“Maybe he can call someone for me, Krypto. I think I might be an actress for pulling that off the whole damn time. I looked chill, right? God, I hope I bloody was.” You said to Krypto.
“I’m still going to get that gelato.” You said to Krypto again and this time, he barked back, agreeing to it.
“Yes, you’re getting some too. You fluff ball.”
