You jolted awake, drenched in sweat and tears, your heart pounding as if it were about to leap out of your chest. Tears streamed down your cheeks, which were still flushed with fear.
You turned to see Natasha snoring softly. You bit your lower lip as tears fell onto the bed sheets, a sound you could only hear within the still silence that fell throughout your shared home at this early hour.
Natasha's eyes shuddered open when you lightly sniffled, and she unexpectedly sat up as she realized you were crying.
"Hey, hey, Люблю, Are you all right? "What's the matter?" She questioned you while holding your face.
"I'm fine, Nat, I just had a bad dream," you said tiredly.
“Hydra?” She looked you in the eyes with concern, and you nodded and sobbed even more.
" Люблю don't cry, everything is fine," she said as she kissed your tears away.
Natasha rocked you gently back and forth while singing a Russian lullaby.
"You're fine; you're safe with me; I'll stay by your side and protect you." She murmured as she sluggishly ran her fingers over your back, and minutes later you fell into a deep slumber.
When you awoke, you felt warm and comfortable against Natasha's chest, and you angled your head to look at your lovely wife's face, guilt consuming you. You didn't mean to startle her. You were so engrossed in your thoughts that you didn't notice Natasha waking up.
"Didn't you know staring is rude?" She grinned down at you, you rolled your eyes and backed away, causing her to pull you against her chest and kiss the side of your neck.
She muttered in your hair, "How did you sleep?"
"I slept well, and I apologize for waking you up; it wasn't my intention," you said as you turned to face her.
"Oh Люблю , why are you sorry?" she lifted your face and stroked it gently. You're my wife, and I'm supposed to be by your side and protect you at all times. It is my responsibility to keep you safe and loved; you’re my everything, and I don't know who I am without you." She gently kissed you.
