Chapter Text

"Blossom, watch out!"

The blue Puff sister screamed out in fear. If it hadn't been for Bubbles’ warning, Blossom would have been hit by a ball of flame that Brick threw at them. Their third sister, Buttercup, raged at the threat the red Ruff imposed, immediately counter-attacking. The Rowdyruff boys were getting tougher and tougher to beat, but this time, like all the other times, the girls won.

That fight happened over five years ago when the Rowdyruffs were last seen. Even though they were only in middle school, the Powerpuff girls have yet again saved the day.

Who are the so-called PPG? That story takes a long way back.

When the Professor made the Powerpuffs in his lab, they were meant to be the greatest superheroes Townsville had ever seen, which, of course, they lived up to. Beating up all kinds of monsters and bringing justice was just another day for them, going through all of that with such ease and finesse. The Powerpuffs were fantastic, heroic even. They were unbeatable . Keyword in that sentence? Were .

Of course, the PPGs knew the Rowdyruffs still existed; that they waited and waited in some corner of this world to return. How could they ever forget their childhood enemies, even when they haven't seen them in years?

Truly, they didn't forget them as much as they disregarded the idea of them. Since they were so easy to beat every time, the girls brushed off the idea of them coming back. Even if they did manage to somehow return for vengeance, they would be immediately stopped. Were they wrong? Only time could tell.

Neither the Powerpuffs nor the Rowdyruffs had a leader. Blossom and Brick were the most determined of their siblings, sure, but no more important.

Brick is the red Rowdyruff and the oldest by three seconds. He was made from puppy dog tails, and his powers are fire and smoke. The red Ruff is mostly known for his long red hair and the hat he never takes off.

Butch is the green Rowdyruff and the second eldest. His main element is snails and his powers are energy shields and energy bursts. He's mainly known for his stubbornness and aggression, which are traits he shares with Brick.

Boomer is the youngest and the blue Rowdyruff. The element he is made of are snips, and his powers are electricity control and outbursts. The blonde is famous for his innocent look, which can be deceiving, because he is, in fact, a villain. He also has the reputation of being the dumbest one out of the brothers.

Blossom is the oldest sister, with her element being "everything nice". She often lived up to the element, as she was always the best student and incredibly well-mannered. Her powers are heat control as well as telekinesis. She's known for her obsession with the color pink and the large red bow she wears on her head.

Buttercup is the middle child/creation of the Professor, younger than her older sister by just three seconds. Her name doesn't fit her the best because of her butchy personality and her main element: spice. The powers she has are super strength and shadow control. Just like her enemy Butch (although she is far calmer than him), she is known for her stubbornness.

Lastly, Bubbles is the youngest of the three, and some would say the sweetest, because of her element: sugar. She's the best at talking to animals and water control, which are her powers. Her sisters and dad often worry about her because everyone believes she is too sweet and maybe a bit naïve for a blue Puff.

Those were the Townsville gods, as the local newspaper once called them. Now that the Puffs were in high school, nobody is worried for their safety anymore. Since the Ruffs were defeated, no more evil scared their suburban city.

That day was the first day of school, the first day of their junior year. The three girls used to hate the first day of any grade since the Rowdyruffs or some other equally mean villain would always ruin it. Now that Townsville has had the calmest year so far, the Powerpuffs were finally excited for the start of this school year.

The beeping of her alarm clock wasn't really what woke Blossom up - it was her sister,  Buttercup. She was in the kitchen, however the fuss she was making over messing up her own breakfast was echoing throughout the whole house. Bubbles quickly offered to help her obviously not-very-talented sister in cooking, which Buttercup gladly accepted.

Blossom chuckled to herself. This was a regular morning in the Utonium household, and even though it wasn’t peaceful by any means, it still brought a sense of stability and comfort.

Everything will be alright.

No monsters, no villains, and most importantly - no Brick Jojo . That thought made her smile; finally, a normal year in their life was about to begin.

As soon as Bubbles saw her pink sister walk into the kitchen, her mouth widened into a huge smile.

"Hey, Blossom! Did you sleep well? I'm so excited for today! I can't wait to see how this year's gonna be!"

Buttercup ate her pancakes without saying a word, appearing annoyed. She always hated the first day of school, because of her ex-best friend Mitch. She had feelings for him in middle school, but it all ended after he brutally turned her down on the first day of seventh grade.

When the girls finished their breakfast, they went to their rooms to get changed from their pajamas into something more appropriate for school. After they were all ready, they hugged the Professor goodbye, wishing him a great day at work.

The Professor was so much more to them than a scientist who created them - he was their dad, an important part of their family. Even though it may be childish and kind of cheesy to hug your dad every day before you go to school, the lives of superheroes are complicated, and tomorrow isn't always guaranteed. Besides, they almost lost the Professor once, and that made them appreciate him even more. No matter how much Buttercup pretended to hate doing it, she’d never once leave the house without showing her appreciation for the Professor.

A few years ago, when they were about fifteen, Mojo Jojo's partner in crime, Him, almost killed Professor. He used him as bait to capture the Puffs, kidnapping him and abusing him as bait. It was so close that the girls could have lost their only parent that day.

When they walked into the classroom, everything seemed normal. Their class was divided into groups of people, perhaps cliques, which hung out together. Even though they did have other friends in school, the girls hung out with each other the most. Lately, however, Blossom has been spending more and more time with Dexter...

As good as the Powerpuffs were, not everyone managed to like them... There was a certain curly-head in their class which despised them with a hatred they’ve never seen before, making their lives harder with her bullying ever since kindergarten.

"Hey, Puffs.” Her screechy voice rang behind them. “Decided to show your pathetic asses in school after letting the police do all of your work?"

"We only let the police handle it 'cause it wasn't a big deal! And we are more than capable, you-"

Blossom put a reassuring hand on Buttercup's shoulder to stop her from saying anything without thinking it through. Princess Morebucks wasn’t worth losing her cool. No matter how much she wanted to put the ungrateful, spoiled princess in her place, they were superheroes, and they had a reputation to uphold.

Buttercup shut up, but rolled her eyes. The green sister always was the most protective of them. She seemed like she doesn't care and leaves Bubbles and Blossom on their own, but if somebody ever dared to hurt her pride, or worse, her sisters , she would go crazy.

Princess Morbucks scoffed again, moving her curly red hair over one shoulder. Soon, the bell rang, signaling that class was about to start and that students should sit in their seats. Even though they were sisters, the Powerpuffs didn't sit together - their teachers finally had enough of their constant chatting and not paying attention in classes. Well, at least Bubbles and Buttercup. Blossom was always the top student, whether she sat with her sisters or not.

When the whole class sat down, the teacher walked in.

"Good morning, everyone! Welcome to another school year; full of learning and so much fun! We will start with talking about your summer breaks in a moment, but before that, I have an announcement to make. We have three new students this year! Isn't that amazing? They are brothers, and they have just been transferred to our school! So, everyone, I expect that you treat them with respect and friendliness. They are waiting outside - I'll now bring them in!"

As the teacher went to bring in the new students, the students broke into a murmur and excited whispering. Curious themselves, the girls tried to overhear any other conversation, dying to know if someone had any information on the new guys. They didn't hear anything new, however they were unlucky enough to see Princess Morbucks biting her lip and saying to Mandy: "Gosh, I hope they are hot!"

Right after she finished speaking, the teacher walked in with the three guys following her. They were all tall and good-looking enough to leave every girl in the classroom blushing; and no, that did not exclude the Utonium sisters. Even though the teacher made it clear that they were brothers, no one would be able to guess that - the three of them looked nothing alike.

The first one who walked in had short jet-black hair in a mohawk and greenish eyes. He was wearing an army green jacket over a black Metallica tee, paired with black ripped jeans. He had an emotionless, almost mad expression on his face. What Buttercup noticed first was the sharp scar that decorated his left eyebrow, which left her slightly confused. She knew that scar from somewhere.

The guy who walked in after had messy blonde hair and big, blue eyes. He was wearing a navy blue hoodie and light blue jeans. The half-smirk he had on his face was thrown toward their third brother. Bubbles was the one curious about this brother since something about his deep blue eyes and that stupid smile felt so familiar to her. She had no idea why.

Even though she had a strange feeling about the first two, the third brother was the most interesting to Blossom. She didn't know what it was, but something about his long ginger hair similar to hers and his red eyes seemed... Awfully familiar. Almost as if she had known him her whole life. He was wearing a red flannel shirt and a black, plain one underneath, with blue jeans and a red hat turned backward. His expression was furious, or at the very least, annoyed.

Buttercup, Bubbles, and Blossom shared a look amongst themselves while all the other girls were busy staring, or more so drooling, at the new students. They knew that they all had this weird feeling about them. Weird in an exciting, anxious way. Have they met before?

Suddenly, Bubbles' eyes went wide like she realized something, but quickly shut and returned to normal.

'C'mon Blossom, think! Who are these guys, and why do you know them?!'  The pink Puff thought to herself.

Then, the teacher spoke, and said something they didn't expect to hear. Something they weren't prepared to hear.

"Class, I would like to introduce you to Butch, Boomer, and Brick Jojo!"

The Rowdyruff boys?!
