The best part about now having a crystal ball in the household for Hunter at least was, the fact that he had so much free time and what better way to spend that free time than to binge watch your favorite show. He knows that he’s going to get thrown out or disowned if Darius or Raine find out about his late night binges, he feels guilty for even thinking about the possibility of it actually happening. He’s living with them for a week and yet that fear never left him.
Turning on the crystal ball Hunter scrolling down through the list of shows the ball offered he finally found it, his eyes widened when he saw the episodes name. He’s been avoiding spoilers for this episode like the plague, he never even got the chance to watch it until now ‘True Colors.’ His excitement was through the roof for this. He made sure to turn the volume down enough so that no one would wake up, but also enough for him to hear the episode. He pressed the play button and began to watch, trying his best to keep his voice down so he would wake anyone. But it might not have been enough.

Eberwolf’s ear twitched, she decided to try and ignore the noise, but those are the woes of having better senses than the average witch. She stretched her paws against her makeshift bed. And checked her scroll for the time, ‘3:08 am’ she growled in annoyance. She exited her room to find the source of the noise. But it’s not where she thought it coming from. Following the sounds of muffled laughter, lead her to Hunter’s room, it confused her, why his room. Jumping up to open the door to see Hunter, wide awake, watching something on the crystal ball.
Eberwolf sneaked to the teens side to catch a glimpse of what he was watching. It looked to be a cartoon of some kind. Eberwolf looked up at the teen and saw a huge smile on his face, tooth gap showing and then she realized, that she has never seen him look so happy, he was usually jumpy and scared, even after a week since she, Darius and Raine decided to take him in. It was almost shocking that something like this could bring him so much joy. Glancing back at the ball, Eber saw two girls fighting with swords one of the two was dual wielding, which prompted Eberwolf to comment an idea to Hunter.
“Can’t you duel wield your staffs, like that?”
Hunter’s ears picked up on the comment, he looked down to see Eberwolf sitting next to him on his bed. He scrambled to pause the episode, fearing Eberwolf’s reaction, closing his eyes just incase of a hit or a verbal beat down. But instead of that was a question.
“Why’d you pause?”
Well that was not expected.
“W-what?”
“Unpause it I want to see how that fight ends.”
This is new, he’d never expected that reaction from someone. Usually whenever he would try to open up about his interests, he’s either told that it’s childish, to shut up, or even flat up ignored.
“A-are you sure?,” he asks, mumbling under his breath on whether or not he should give her context so she could better understand why Sasha and Anne were fighting.
“What is the context behind this, Hunter?”
This is a dream. It has to be a dream, there’s no way this is real.
“You’re tricking me aren’t you?,” he honestly didn’t know her intentions behind this. Eberwolf responds, “Hunter, you have been living with us for a week now, do you really think we would mock you over liking whatever this show is?”
Hunter hesitates before nodding. Eberwolf carefully chose what words to say here. And finally she answered.
“Listen Hunter, as far as I’m concerned, Darius already see’s you as his kid, Raine loves your company, and I love your affinity with the beasts that live around here, my point is that we care about you and you’re interests and your absolutely free to talk to any of us about anything. So damn the titan, Hunts I can see that you’ve been holding in all of that information waiting long enough to talk about it, I’m all ears, kiddo.”
Hunter had tears in his eyes, finally someone actually took his interests seriously and wanted him to talk about that show. So with the biggest smile on his face he talked for about half an hour about all the events that have transpired before this episode. And Eberwolf just sat there and listened.
Once Hunter was done, Eberwolf asked if he could unpause the episode, to which he immediately does. And the two watch the rest of the episode, Eberwolf having to pause again, during the scene in which Andrias betrayed Marcy’s trust, in a manner that was similar to Belos’s betrayal of the kids trust, only twist upon this was that Marcy had been withholding certain information from her friends.
Asking if he was okay before unpausing and then near the end of the episode, there on the crystal ball was a death scene. Hunter quietly saying the characters name in pure shock and heartbreak. Ending with the main character arriving back to her home, which the two watching could only wonder if that’s what the human realm looked like.
And credits roll, crystal ball turned off Hunter fell back into his bed and slept. Eberwolf let out a small laugh before jumping up to open the door.
“Goodnight.”
Before she left she heard a quiet voice singing.
“That I’m not alone,
Theres no need to roam,
With you three, I’m home.”
Before hearing soft snores only then she headed back to her room.
