*Knock Knock Knock*
It's a rainy night,
*Knock Knock Knock*
Cold, Dark,
*Knock Knock Knock*
oddly, comforting,
*Knock Knock Knock*
"nngh-" sonic groaned, woken up by the noise at his door
*Knock Knock Knock*
It seems more frantic with each knock so sonic slumps out of bed throws on a bathrobe and makes his way towards the door.
Behind the door stood, Shadow the hedgehog, Sonics rival turned close friend
"nh- shadow?"
Shadow is soaking wet, he smells like cigarettes and Sonic isn't sure because of the rain but it looks like Shadow has been crying
"ah-I'm sorry you were sleeping I should-"
"no-no, come in, your soaking shad, jeez- ill get you some coffee, is everything alright?"
Sonic rushes Shadow inside and onto the couch before he can even reply and at super speed prepares the pair of them some piping hot coffee, just the way he likes It (with some beans on the side for Shadow to crunch on)
Sonic sitting just next to him on the couch,
"..so kind" Shadow whispers under his breath
" Shadow it's really no problem, You're my friend"
Shadow laughed quietly, a short huff of air out his nose that was barely perceptible. before taking a long sip of the coffee (it's really good)
Then taking in a deep breath, he sighed
"I should probably explain why I'm here-"
"You don't owe me any explanations shadow, if you just need company right now it's alright, but if it makes you feel better explaining, go ahead"
Shadow smiled again
" Yeah, I just feel a bit down I suppose, a lot of, haunting thoughts "
Sonic placed a hand on Shadow's shoulder, giving him a look of total support
" haunting, " he repeated softly
that was, concerning but sonic understood, somewhat anyway, Shadow has been through a lot, sonic has too but, this moment was about Shadow
"mostly of..maria and, some of the ... horrible shit I've done in the past.."
Shadow started to shake a little, placing down his cup in caution of spilling it.
Sonics grip tightened a little on Shadow's shoulder, just enough to help ground him
"It's alright, I'm here" Sonic affirmed, staring deep into Shadow with his shiny, supportive, emerald green eyes
Shadow took a breath, calming himself a little before continuing
"I just feel... Guilty"
Small tears started to roll down Shadow's cheeks, he started shaking again
"hey-hey, shadow, it's alright-"
"I just-" shadow now sobbing "I, killed people, people that did nothing wrong, for a false promise, being stupidly manipulated by others... i..how could be so fucking naive? i- I cant"
Sonic looks back at Shadow for a moment, thinking, concerned for his friend, then, he hugged him, tightly, not interrupting what Shadow had to say with it , but embracing him warmly, holding him in close, making him feel grounded and secure
shadow continued to sob into sonics shoulder,
for a while
needless to say, Shadow stayed over at sonics place that night, after the session of crying they ended up watching shadows comfort films together and sonic ordered a pizza for them both
they both fell asleep on the couch
