Warm Summer Nights

Summary:

[Lupin III] Goemon gets visitors at different parts of the night who share the same request.

Notes:

Something saucy last week, time for something snuggly this week. Aheheheeeee cuddle fics my beloved...this one took a while to write but I really love it. I just love cuddle puddles and wanted to write one for the boys. I just love the idea of the three of them are pretzeled up and being all cozy and sweet.

I have another fic that's pretty close to completion, but I think I'll save that one as a little celebration for when I graduate very soon.

Work Text:

It's a warm, quiet summer night. The crickets sing under the full moon, and the leaves rustle in the cool breeze. It's nature's moonlit melody. Goemon thoroughly enjoys it. He savors any form of peace and quiet he can get, especially with Lupin running amuck most of the time. He had spent a fair bit of time simply gazing at nature's splendor, but he'd retired to bed a short while ago. Now, Goemon is resting on his side, under the sheets with his eyes closed, waiting for sleep to take him.

Goemon feels the bed dip as someone crawls onto the mattress. Not expecting any visitors, the samurai opens his eyes. There's just enough light from the moon coming in through the window for him to see a familiar face, "Lupin? What is it?"

"Jigen said it's too hot to snuggle." Lupin laments as he perches himself next to the edge of the bed, his legs crossed.

"Really?" Goemon responds in a playful tone, aware of Jigen's pickiness when it comes to the conditions under which he enjoys cuddling.

"Yeah, can you believe it?" Lupin huffs as he crosses his arms. His lower lip is in a pout that would make Fujiko jealous. It isn't long before Lupin drops his facade of being genuinely upset, and starts to give Goemon some pretty serious puppy-dog eyes. Lupin doesn't like sleeping without having someone he can curl up to, Goemon knows this all too well. Goemon lets out a sigh, but it's one of amusement and affection.

"Alright." Goemon relents and lifts up the sheets, "Come here."

Lupin practically tackles Goemon as he slips under the covers and cuddles up to him. The thief wastes no time in making himself comfortable. Lupin snakes his arms around the samurai, practically clinging to him. Lupin's giddy when Goemon does the same, pulling him close, "Mmm, this yukata you've got is really soft." Lupin compliments as he rests his head against Goemon's chest, his cheek rubbing against the smooth fabric. Eventually, Lupin settles down and lets the warmth and comfort afforded by Goemon’s body help him get some shut-eye.

Truthfully, Goemon would be inclined to agree with Jigen. It's just a few degrees too warm to be pretzeled up like this. And, Goemon is much more of a cuddler than Jigen is. But, at present, the warmth is comforting. And, who knows? Maybe the night will cool off. Goemon doesn't give it too much thought, preferring to rest his chin on top of Lupin's head and let the lullaby of chirping crickets and whispering leaves soothe him to sleep.

~~~
Goemon wakes up a few hours later to the sensation of the sheets shifting, and a warmth tentatively resting at his back. At first, he thinks it's Lupin moving to a different position. Usually, as the night progresses, Lupin sprawls out a bit. Sometimes, he even moves around in search of the coziest spot. But, he swears he can still feel Lupin in his arms. The soft snores Goemon can hear as he becomes slightly more alert sound like Lupin's as well. Process of elimination quickly narrows down the only other person it could be.
"Mm, Jigen?" Goemon calls out sleepily. A soft grunt of affirmation from behind confirms his guess, "Do you need something?"
"Couldn't sleep. The bed's really cold without someone else in it." Jigen confesses.
"Strange, I recall someone telling me that you said it was too warm to share a bed. I can't quite tell, but I imagine it's gotten cool enough for you to change your mind."
"Oi, man, don't tease me, alright?" Jigen pauses for a bit as he searches for his wods, "Do 'ya mind if I...ya'know?" Jigen doesn't finish his sentence, but Goemon more than understands his request.
Goemon grants Jigen's wish with a sleepy shake of his head, "Make yourself comfortable."
The gunslinger welcomes himself under the sheets and makes short work of getting comfortable. Jigen isn't as aggressive a cuddler as Lupin, meaning that Goemon doesn't have to brace himself for impact. But, Goemon can tell Jigen is very happy by the way he wraps his arms around his waist and draws him flush to his chest. Jigen places a little kiss on the back of Goemon's neck. It's Jigen's way of saying thanks. Jigen settles his head against Goemon's shoulder, before letting out a sigh of contentment and drifting off to sleep.
With Lupin at his front and Jigen at his back, Goemon finds himself in a very cozy position. The three of them fit together just so. It's gotten cool enough that even with an additional body in the bed, Goemon isn't hot at all. That might change come morning, but it’s nothing that Goemon is concerned about. Already half-asleep, it doesn't take long for Goemon to fall asleep again, especially now that he's twice as cozy as before.
~~~
The morning sun is warm on Goemon's skin as he slowly rouses from his slumber. The first thing that he can recognize is that he's very, very warm. But, not uncomfortably so. As he starts to shift, Goemon notices that he’s not able to move very much. He opens his eyes and is greeted with quite a sight.

He probably couldn't get up even if he wanted to, given that both Lupin and Jigen are practically on top of him. During the night, Goemon had shifted from his side to his back, which had in turn allowed his partners to rest atop him. Lupin's head is resting on his shoulder, with an arm wrapped around his upper torso. And, Jigen's head is on his chest, with a hand resting on the samurai’s middle. Goemon manages to free one of his hands and strokes Jigen’s hair, and the gunslinger subconsciously leans into Goemon’s touch and makes a soft noise.

Normally, Goemon would get out of bed to either train or meditate. That, or start making breakfast. But, he doesn't have the heart to get up and wake both of them with his absence. Not when they're sleeping so peacefully and all cuddled up. Goemon figures he might as well take a cue from his partners and get some additional rest. So, he lets his head sink into the soft pillow below him and closes his eyes.
~~~
Lupin yawns and stretches before he opens his eyes. It’s a beautiful morning. He’s just woken up, well rested from a night of being as snug as a bug in a rug. The thief turns onto his side, and sees a familiar face on the other side of Goemon. Jigen is awake as well, his hands tucked behind his head with his elbows up. Lupin lets out a little snicker and gives Jigen a small wave. The gunslinger adopts a deer-in-the-headlights look at being caught red handed.
"Good morning." Lupin greets Jigen with a grin, "Fancy meeting you here.”
"Lupin, about last night..." Jigen starts, but trails off and finds himself unable to finish his sentence.
"Hey, man, no hard feelings. So long as you repay me by letting me into your bed tonight." Lupin teases, giving Jigen a sly grin. Jigen concedes with a playful huff, but he knows that Lupin will be cuddled up to him before sundown tonight. Jigen notes that Goemon is still resting. It's not uncommon for Goemon to wake up before both of them and continue to rest for their sake. But, with the sound of conversation, he would think that Goemon would get up as well. Jigen thinks it's cute that Goemon is so dedicated to making sure they stay comfortable, even though the samurai would probably prefer to be up and moving by now.
"Goemon, We're both up. You don't need to pretend to be asleep anymore." Jigen gives Goemon a gentle nudge. Goemon’s face is half buried in a pillow, but the slight scrunch of his face at being disturbed is still visible. The samurai shifts for a bit before he gathers the energy to roll over and let out a yawn. Jigen is visibly surprised, as he didn’t expect Goemon to still be snoozing this late into the morning.
"Good morning." Jigen gives Goemon an affectionate nuzzle, “Sorry for waking you up, I didn’t think you were still asleep.” Jigen apologizes, but Goemon shakes his head.
"I woke up earlier, but both of you were still asleep." Goemon’s own yawn interrupts him, evidence that he’s still pretty sleepy, “I was just going to rest, but it would seem that I fell back asleep.”
"It's not everyday that you fall back asleep. Must've been real cozy for you to do that." Jigen purrs as he plants a kiss to the underside of Goemon's jaw. Not to be forgotten, Lupin crawls a little closer and starts kissing Goemon’s cheek. The two of them make their appreciation known, peppering kisses wherever they can reach. A pink flush quickly spreads across Goemon’s cheeks at the affection. It doesn’t take long before Goemon rolls his face into the pillow, which is his way of politely saying that that’s enough. At least, it is for now. Lupin and Jigen have no qualms with this, opting to curl up next to Goemon. The three of them rest like that for a while, cozy and comfortable.
"I can get up and start making breakfast." Goemon starts to push himself up off the bed, but his progress is interrupted by Lupin, who clings to him in an attempt to keep him from getting up.
"Fifteen more minutes? Pretty please?" Lupin pleads, cuddling even closer in an effort to pin Goemon to the bed. Once again, Goemon is confronted by those trademark puppy-dog eyes that could soften any heart to Lupin's will. Well, probably any heart aside from Zenigata's.
"Alright." Goemon complies with Lupin's wish, laying back down on the bed, knowing full well that those fifteen minutes are going to turn into an hour, "As long as Jigen doesn't mind." Jigen makes his opinion known by wrapping an arm around Goemon's waist and nuzzling his face into the crook of the Samurai's neck. Lupin rests his head on Goemon's chest, adjusting the angle of his head ever so slightly so that he can listen to Goemon's heartbeat. All of them perfectly content, the trio of thieves settle into the bed for a lazy and cozy morning.
