Work Text:
“How long’s he been like this?” He whispers.
Molly whispers back. “I don’t know. He just swirled in a while ago and started doing this.”
They stare at Sherlock, who’s rushing about the lab in Barts, shouting to himself and dashing between computers, microscopes, and what are presumably results from whatever experiments he has going on. John sighs.
“I’ll handle it,” He says. Molly shoots him a grateful look before going back to her mortuary. He turns to his flatmate.
“Sherlock,” He says admonishingly, “Slow down.”
Sherlock just gives him a “mmhmm” as he swirls by, coat flapping. John sighs again when Sherlock takes it off and throws it at him, and just lays it over his arm.
“C’mon,” He says, “They’ve got to close up the labs soon, as you can do all of this back at Baker’s Street. Mrs. Hudon will be waiting up for us.”
Sherlock bolts up ramrod-straight. “Say that again.”
“Say what?” John asks. Sherlock blurs over and takes his face in his hands, staring into his eyes.
“Repeat what you just said.”
“Oh-kay,” John says. “I said that you can do this all back at home, and Mrs. Hudson will be waiting up for us.”
“Waiting!” Sherlock shouts. “Waiting, yes, that’s it! John, you’re brilliant !”
“Yes, I know” John’s about to say, but he doesn’t get the chance because Sherlock kisses him. He’s startled, at first, but it ends so quickly he barely registers anything else. Sherlock rushes out of the lab, a dazzling grin on his face, and throws a “John, come on!” over his shoulder.
John reaches up to touch his lips. He smiles, then rushes after his mad flatmate.
