Work Text:
Genie saw Aladdin's dusty vest, his worn and patched-up trousers. The boy was poor, that was certain, and poor men often used up their wishes in a blink of an eye, wishing for bags of gold (if they were simple) or unending supplies of it (if they were crafty), or the richest feasts they could imagine, or the grandest palaces they could conceive of.
Al didn't seem to already have a list of wishes, though. The boy paced a bit before finally asking the Genie, "What would you wish for?"
It takes a moment for the Genie to recover from his surprise.
